I read MD accounts of various things concerning the soul, too. Can’t combat materialism for the world, can only live in the other way as it’s always been true for me.
Not sure if the alien theory can be dismissed because it sounds too similar to how ancient people described angels. As mere citizens we don't have access to good data, so instead we must rely on those that have had top-secret clearance. Paul Helier (former defense chief for Canada), Haim Eshed (former head of Israel's space force), Chris Melon (assistant secretary for Intel) , Lou Alzando , David Grush (cleared for presidential sensitive level material ).. and many more say something very similar: aliens are real BTW, I wonder if his dog perked up when he said, "I don't communicate with species that are completely different from me.. I eat them."
I have to give you credit, Ben, for giving a platform to this important academic... one of the few voices actually worth listening to in this whole subject area. I exchanged some emails with him a while back and felt he had an honest and inquiring mind. I know that you didn't really agree with what he said about NDEs near the end, but these are the correct conclusions I would say. I agree with him that personality perhaps survives for a while (though I am more conservative on the timescale... I would actually limit it to a matter of hours only, around the mortal event). We've been playing an elaborate psychological game of avoidance with our mortality, even including NDEs. Death DOES end all our fond attachments...Jeff is right about this, even though it's very much not what the internet wants to hear. But then, this is only as seen from consciousness with a small c, not with a big C. As persons we were only ever a kind of humorous javascript being run by big C.
People want certainty and that's why they believe science so much because that's all there is for "facts". There's more to it all. We may never figure it out as much as we would like to having solid answers. That's why belief is so hard for many people also

The story is a bit too American for my liking. If a European kid had a memory of a last life it would be against the Germans. But because the yanks fought the Japs, of course the kid is a pilot fighting the Japanese. A more extraordinary case would be a kid remembered being, say, a Pakistani fighter during the partition of India. Or a Chinese soldier fighting the Vietnamese. But an American boy being a soldier during WW2 can be answered by Dr Sudduth's paper.

An amazing case. 44:31 Powell's conclusion is ETH. 33:13 Powell says Stratton tried to interview the pilots and they said the UAPTF "don't have a need to know". The law now says everything has to be handed over to AARO. Hopefully someone in AARO has followed up on that further.
that so works with cheney being the gatekeeper. its the cia, office of global access. i noticed a lot of the ufo ppl on yt being very quiet about that particular office, shortly after it broke. telling me either they are working for or with intell. ufology is ate up with them. when i reported my sighting to mufon, they pretty much blew me off. the night it happened i thought maybe it was just something gov. but for the next 4 days, there were small black choppers flying over my town. that ltterally has 2 flashing lights. and we almost never see choppers. theres a small airport about 20 mils away. mostly private. and the next nearest airport is about 80 ml in one direction and over 100 in the other. its was about 8pm on mar 1, 2023 was driving to the continence store, maybe 1/2 mile away. headed west. I saw some lights through the trees. I dont usually drive at night. we live by a river. it didnt look like it was moving, so at first, I though maybe it was a new tower going up on the other side of the river. so I continued to the store. when I came out of the store I didnt see anything. on my way back to the house, when I had gotten past where I had first seen it, I looked in my rear view. and it was still in the same spot. I slowed to a crawl rolled down the window and look at it. it had a lot of smaller lights on it. I couldnt really make out the shape. but it look like it might have been a rectangle shape. there were 2 lights coming off what I thought were 3 corners, and some smaller lights in the middle towards the back. it made no noise. I still couldnt tell if it was moving. I was alone and didnt have my phone. i went back to the house and started telling my adult children. my son and I then walked out to the middle of the street. I was so excited that I forgot my phone again. but but that time it was now above the middle of the street. we went back to the house when I convinced my daughter to get in the car with me so we could go get a better look. by them it started moving more west. I tried to track it a bit but wasnt able to get a good look at it. it was probably 15 to 20 ft long and right above the trees, so maybe 40ft high at most when I had seen it. the next day when I was talking with one of my neighbors, after I had seen the 1st helicopter, I said "you're not going to believe me but I saw a ufo last night. that was when he tol me that when he was on his way home he had seen the same thing. I had 2 more sightings in the next few month, but nothing that close. the others were far off lights in the sky. but I have video of those.
this is one the best interviews yet because Marieta consistently refers to literature and studies when giving her answers. It would be great if the researchers were pressed on the specifics of the research data. in a few of the interviews they either give vague answers or personal opinions, rather than citing the data.
Thank you, Bastien. I'm glad you like that idea, I do too. I also liked another way of thinking of it, that Steve included in his book. It is essentially imagining you're sitting on a riverbank, and each boat that goes by on the river is a thought. Everytime you find yourself being carried away by the thought, you return yourself to the riverbank, and your place of calm observation. It is a good technique to observe thoughts rather than attaching ourselves to them.
Prof Taylor's insight that learning meditation via a physically absorbing activity, e.g. exercise, is super valuable! I learned how to be attuned to the present moment via cycling and later dancing, and did those for years before attempting regular sitting meditation.

Really good conversation. I can relate to a lot thats being said. My journey to spiritual awakening was maybe a bit unconventional? I was going through a bad time in my life and found my way to group therapy. I was at rock bottom. But I had an epiphany moment during my self analysis therapy. I became self aware and self resposible. Realising my own ways of being can be remoulded to a certain degree. Once I had this ability to be open with my own being. It was easy to shine this not just within but also without. It was also about being realistic about the undesirable imprinted responses I cannot change. Knowing what I am, and mitigating my immediate environment on a constant basis. To try and get the best outcomes for myself. I do not always get it right though. I am still Human. The only note of caution I would mention. Is that I have found my spiritual awakening in everyday society, does need a sense of balance. What is best for me balanced against what is best for others. Self care balanced with care for others. For example, I now understand the equal importance of all existence. I appreciate everythings place in the Universe. I found myself just stopping to study the detailed structure and beauty of the leaves on the trees. I had to stop myself standing there and looking in awe at a single leaf on a shrub or a tree. I realized doing this in your local park does set you apart from most people around you. We still have to exist with others that have not had a deep spiritual awakening. Some times I have experienced difficult psychological and spiritual incompatibility. We just need to be wise with how we live in our new spiritual awakened ways of being.
I've sat with both David Thompson and Scott Milligan - both at the Banyan Retreat. Given David was my first experience of physical mediumship I was slightly surprised to be asked if I would put the restraints on David but I saw this as a great opportunity for me to satisfy my curiosity and scepticism. Plastic ties were used (of the large variety) and cut the long tails off in such a way it would be damed difficult if not impossible to replicate in darkness I inspected the chair making sure it could not be broken apart easily feeling for any anomalies that might be a latch etc. I found nothing untoward. I even inspected the floor for a trap doors and given the room was newly floored with engineered board which shows up any defect. The circle required that everyone joined hands and we're given strict instructions to shout out if anyone breaks the chain. It was an amazing demonstration where I received a spirit form laying their hands on my head. But the best evidence was when a sprit form called out "Mum" and a lady in the audience recognised the voice of her dead adult son and they had a brief but intimate conversation. Whilst I'm a sceptic it's more to make sure that the medium is genuine - I have no doubt about the phenomenon. I've two seances with Scott Milligan having also sat only one person away and again experience wonderful phenomena with children putting there hands on my knee and whispering in front of me (there were no children in the room) playing with the toys that had been laid out in the middle of the circle.
Fascinating topic...I welcome a visit from a deceased pet...I have experienced a visit in a dream...but mostly notice messages will come through my intuition...it helps alot especially with the grief one experiences when losing a pet💙💜
