If I could offer my commentary without trying to twist God‘s words. In verse 15 Roman 5 Adam thrust the many/all people into death without their permission. 😔 In the same way God’s grace super abounded to the same many/all people without their permission.😃 Remember God‘s grace is not impotent Titus 2:11-12. This proves the receiving in verse 17 is passive in the sense that God brings it about in the many/all people just like the first sin brought about death in the many/all people and then verse 18,19,20,21 just mean what they say. Much love,
I like this teaching, especially the slides. It's extremely helpful, thank you! 🙏🏻 One minor point though, did you include John 3:10 because you believe this passage makes reference to washings/baptism? If so, I would probably challenge that a bit. I've heard it taught that the mention of being "born of water" in John 3:5 is in reference to baptism, usually purported by sects that teach baptism as necessary for salvation. I've heard another theory: We're all "born of water" as humans in the sense of how an expectant mother "breaks her water" when we're about to be born, as her amniotic sac fluid spills out. That's everyone's first birth. To be "born again" is to have our first spiritual birth as opposed to a natural birth (compare to Nicodemus' question in verse 4). If what you believe, though, is that to be born of the Spirit you also have to be baptized, then it would make sense why you would include this verse in that section of the study. I just want to be clear where you're coming from, if you don't mind. 🙂
This is exactly why both men and women are supposed to wear biblically appropriate garments. No yoga pants, tank tops, etc. The body is only for the husband and wife to see!!!!
I just preached about this in in Romans and I have not heard many people with the same understanding. Thank you for taking all of scripture into context and allowing the scriptual tension of God's Plan and Man's Free Will, to go side by side. The other two theologies actually limit's God's Power but what a powerful God we serve who can accomplish his plan and not harm our free will in the process. Truly amazing!
"leaven" is a corrupting agent, according to Moses. it makes something larger without actually increasing the thing... it puffs up with air, not with substance. Jesus uses this idiom when He speaks of the "leaven of the Pharisees," referring to their pride, which puffs them up without substance. And three measures of flour... that's what Abraham offered to God under the oaks of Mamre. I wonder if there isn't a darker, far more negative interpretation of this parable? If Jesus wasn't prophesying corruption in the church, like we've seen a thousand times throughout history?
I would've thought your message to the audience would've been more along the lines of letting people know that one person owning another person as their property is immoral. It is evil and it is cruel, and there are no excuses. Is this not the way you feel please enlighten me ?
Not a christian but I am getting annoyed watching this. Watching for philosophical reasons & these lines simply mean, that; if you live in a household full of unconscious people & start preaching about having good virtues & living constructively, they will crucify you out of ignorance. Scape goat you. I believe the biggest reason for this kind of primal & tribal behavior can be explained by literal "stupidity" which I used to refer to as "unconsciousness" & the other contributing factor I derived from sociological theories called "symbolic interactionism"
Are you saying that it is okay to use a little wine as long as we are discreet about it, not depending on it or glorying in the fact that they are drinking wine, use it in moderation?
Provided and supplement, same Greek word. From a reformed point of view, would almost seem as though God is doing both on either end. Perhaps Peters instruction exhortation is for us to want both these things. In simple terms, fruit and the result of fruit. But God does both for us, he just wants us to be willing to do his mighty work inside of us. What do you think?
He's talking about the gate to the sheepfold. The Way is the Shepherd, remeber, we are sheep. The Way is Truth, Christ. The way is being obedient to the Word. You weren't clear on the Way and what the Way is not. The Way is abiding in Christ and has nothing to do with out good workings neither has it to do with our sins.
We are always thankful to be able to listen to Begin in the Word each morning to start our day. What good studies!! We appreciate your work in providing the studies for us! Hugh and Judy Price
