Pharmacy school teaches a good amount of material, but what is key to learn is the condensed practical information taught by someone experienced. Even though this lecture is 3 years old, I think it still holds up well with age. There are a handful of newer antibiotics approved in the past few years that I will probably bundle and present in a future video. These are mostly limited use for MDROs. Thank you for your comments and keep on watching!
Glad that you are finding the information helpful! Thank you for your kind comments. Tell your friends about the channel! Good luck on taking the NABPLEX!
I suffered chills, flashes, and sweats for at least 20 years. I lose five hours of sleep each night from sweats and flashes, and for 15 years, I reported these problems to doctors. My doctors never gave me any treatments. This week, my endocrinologist gave me a sample of Veozah. I noticed that the night sweats stopped after taking the tablet. I can sleep without waking up with wet clothes, hair, and sheets or getting bone-hurting chills. I am crossing my fingers that the tablets don't cause any harmful side effects.
My sister is taking this medicine - she is down about 15 lbs in 2 months BUT most of the time she is on the sofa SICK... She feels so bad she can't do anything for 3 to 4 days after the injection then she's OK, injects next and bam she feels awful for 3 to 4 days. How can she overcome this? Please help...
I no longer have a thyroid. Mine was destroyed by radiation ablation after Graves’ disease. My endocrinologist did prescribe me outbound did not see any reason not to.
I've been on Mounjaro for 3 months (just starting my 4th month). No side effects and have lost nearly 30 pounds. Very frustrated about the cost involved! I'm on Medicare and I'm NOT diabetic; therefore, I have to pay full price for the prescription. I just wish Eli Lilly would help out with some kind of co-pay!!! My blood pressure is down, I'm not longer officially "obese" and on the way to being a much healthier person!!!
Eli Lilly DOES help out. Go to their website immediately and sign up for savings card. It brings the price down from $1200 to $550. You might have to switch to brand Zepbound which is exactly the same thing as Mounjaro. Zepbound is the one for obesity.
does that mean you are taking it continuously once a week over several months? I am interested in knowing for how long I can take this before I take a break
I am in 2.5 of Zepbound. It is my 3rd week and haven’t noticed much of a difference in my appetite or cravings. Is that normal at this dose? I had been on Wegovy for only one month at the starting dose and wasn’t hungry or having any cravings. I couldn’t continue the Wegovy due to the supply issue. Also, thank you for this very informative video.
The 2.5 mg dose of Zepbound is for treatment initiation and not for weight loss management. You will probably need to titrate the dose up to at least 5 mg to achieve a response. It’s always best to ask these questions to your prescribing doctor to be sure in your specific case.
Same for me. I just finished my first month and haven't experienced any wl or side effects really besides fatigue and headache. I just moved up to 5mg. After my first week still nothing. Trying to remain hopeful but for this price I better see something soon.
Did you eat healthier right away and maybe that's why you didn't have any side effects? I'm getting ready to start this and I'm a little worried about the side effects. I don't eat much already and not a lot of sugar. Did you start slow and go higher in dose??
I'm on dialysis 3x a week, heparin is given( not sure how often) but I'm concerned because now my potassium levels are high( was given Lokelma biocarb to drink to reduce) could heparin have caused increased potassium ? What questions should I ask my Dr.?
I stumbled onto your channel by accident. Dr. Ken, you are so knowledgeable and better in teaching than most professors. I want to get a Board Certification and your courses are better than the prep courses I have to pay hundreds of dollars . Thank you so much for making these videos and readily available for free.😀
I already had antibodies to PEG....who knew? I experienced CARPA anaphylaxis to the Moderna vax. I was out cold within an hour of receiving the shot. In the following days my immune system went into raging overdrive with painful joints, unrelenting headache, and blood pressure into the stroke range. I am left vaccine injured and unable to take medicines with PEG including IV fluids, use products containing PEG, (try to find personal care products that do not contain it), and have to eat a special diet careful to exclude any possibility of PEG. I had already reacted to four flu shots in the past and even though I always reported the reactions the party line answer was always, "You must have been sick when you received the flu shot." I reported this to the vaxers and received the same party line answer to why I got sick with the flu shot. Turns out I am allergic to polysorbate 60 and 80. I was not observed longer when vaccinated.. I made it home in time to collapse in my home alone. This is not RARE if you are the victim. Moderna was responsive at first, but now they have "upgraded" their computers and my report number no longer exists. Allergists and immunologists are using this data to say it is safe to take MNRA vaccines, but those of us with missing report numbers wonder about the accuracy of the data. Paxlovid and monoclonal antibodies contain my allergens....no safe treatments for me if I get sick.....not even safe Tylenol. WTF. The medical staff was woefully untrained to deal with special circumstances, and other scientists' pleas to find alternatives to PEG on the CDC and NIH sites were ignored. At this point why wouldn't we feel that mNRA is about money for big Pharma and their investors? Does Paxlovid contain polyethylene glycol?....yes, kiss of death for folks like me The following are the ingredients in the film coating: colloidal silicon dioxide, hydroxypropyl cellulose, hypromellose, polyethylene glycol 400, polyethylene glycol 3350, polysorbate 80, talc, and titanium dioxide.
I have my pharmacotherapy test tomorrow over parenteral/enteral nutrition and this really helped to simplify things for me!! Thank you so much!! I'm definitely going to watch the rest of your videos! :))
I started paxlovid on day three of symptoms. I noticed less inflammation in my sinus within an hour. All the body aches and chills were also gone. Giving me a chance to finally sleep. It did give me diarrhea. I ate Greek yogurt before the next any further doses and it helped. I’ve done four doses so far and feel much better. I do have drainage remaining but that’s manageable.
