I set mine up the same way, Silverado 8 foot bed. Added a diesel heater for winter camping. I've found a diesel is the most efficient heat source. Thing runs 8-10 hours easy on extra battery pack. I used a second car battery but your setup would work as well. Check the vid, I camp in Colorado mountains ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-Z1yJWhRWBzA.html
My dad had a 74 F-150 Explorer that had a factory cap and had like a captions bed with drawers, 12 volt lamps, full indoor/outdoor carpeting, window curtains and all the neat stuff. It was 4wd with an extended front bumper for a huge cooler, fishing poll holders, winch etc. He had 35's and we would drive down the beach and camp on the weekends.
I like that setup. I did mine in a similar fashion. Wishing I would have put a taller topper on the truck. Headroom would make it awesome. It's Friday so I'm going camping.
I have heard that putting bolts and vents etc in the roof of a camper introduces possibilities of water leakage. How do you seal it and prevent this? great build. I am looking for ideas for my own build, I am going to borrow from you.
