Some time ago , I set myself the challenge of trying film wildlife and birds and to put together short HD films that I could share on youtube. Most of these are filmed on my small nature reserve in Wales, some are filmed in Mull. I hope you enjoy them. If you appreciate this channel please click on the "like" or "subscribe" oh and I love getting comments :) Best of all I love it when someone shares one of my videos on their facebook page. It means more people see it :) Thanks I'm on facebook here: facebook.com/alexsallyfilms/ Please call by, say hello :) .If you are interested in filming birds and wildlife you might like this guide I wrote on filming wildlife. www.amazon.co.uk/Make-better-videos-your-camera-ebook/dp/B008EV1U74 thank you and thanks for watching Alex Sally
Amazing footage, and also - looks like you were unsure whether to be happy about it or not hahaha because you got to see the goldcrest in the end but obviously it smashed into the window
We just had film fitted to our windows in Cyprus but the downside that we weren’t aware of is the birds think it’s open space as it’s mirrored during the day and we have already had 3 impacts that we’re aware of. Thanks so much for this advice - just what we need!
I went online and bought a roll of clear plastic film which has white stripes on it. It was initially a privacy thing as our living room is overlooked by several houses and it just looks as though you've got Venetian blinds. Anyway, you peel the backing off the film, wet it with water and it sticks to the window. The birds avoid the window now, which is good.
WOW. What a beautiful video. Thank you for posting it. I may have to watch this at least 10 times. 😊 It’s funny. I have been researching Whippets and everything I read says never to let them run off leash except in a fenced-in area. But the Internet is full of videos of Whippets running like mad in the open. I’m assuming that as long as you are not near a road and your dogs have a decent recall, it can be done safely. What a beautiful site to see them run freely…
Hi! Is there firmware available for this camera above 1.0? So far I have not found one, although there are updates available for many other cameras. Thanks for the reply! I've been thinking about the settings, but I've set your suggestion. Thank you!
I have put some artificial butterflies on my windows and hung some rainbow catchers..they work too.😊 I also put some tall plants(like colourfull 😮😮😅grasses) in my plant pots in front of the windows.. It worked I had no fatalities this season 🙂
We did this to our largest, most hit, windows last fall using a cheaper Posca knock off pen. Immediately had a 90% reduction in almost daily bird strikes. Just gave my windows a spring clean and thankfully the lines didn't come off. Highly recommend this method!
Lovely piece of footage. Only I'll say its he is a she. That's a female sparrowhawk. The musket or male is a lot smaller and more bug eyed as his eyes are big compared to his head. But this is a beautiful mature female.
thank you. I just found a bird flew into a window at my workplace. Now I just need to wear a disguise and sneak in some verticle lines as the cameras are watching.
I drew those lines on the outside of our south-facing windows two winters ago. They're still working, and we live in cold/snowy/wet Wisconsin. I probably need to redraw one or two this spring--but the only reason is I actually lightly washed the windows since to remove dirt. The lines stayed put unless I scrubbed. Amazing. There's been an occasional inattentive dove crash, but none of the little finches or songbirds--not even the male goldfinch that had been repeatedly trying to attack the rival he saw in the window. We had six quite tall windows, and I did find that the marker started to wear a bit by the last one, so if you have a lot of windows to do, you may want to purchase two markers--and wash the windows first if you can so you're not sliding the marker over dust and debris.
It probably work. A different trick I tested in very wide windows is black shapes of birds, I used flying swallows shapes and a howl standing on a branch shape. The material was a kind of vinylia with a nice fabric aspect so it doesn't spoil the esthetic
