hey there! i'm cyd, and i'm a weird music enthusiast!! at the moment, i mainly use ultrabox to make my tunes, and i take a lot of inspiration from synth-pop and new wave of the 80's and early 90's (i'm a big fan of kidorikko!), which i also happen to upload on this channel. i hope you enjoy some of the stuff i share here :)
Are they kinda singing in portuguese in "a pimavera"? It does sound like it haha Edit: they do! I'll quickly translate the lyrics. It seems there's some wonky spelling, but I believe the title being "a pimavera" instead of "a primavera" is so it could have the same number of syllables as in portuguese while spoken with japanese quirks and accent. A PIMAVERA What do you do during off-days? I watch television,.. Wash my clothes, clean my house... Read books... Go shopping... Write letters for my family... Chat with friends on the telephone... Oh, the spring (4x)
Furthermore, if I were to guess, the song seems to do some mimicry of those reading comprehension texts in language courses, when you're trying to learn a second or third language haha. At least that's what it reminds me of. It does sound very sweet though. I thought the only japanese songs in portuguese were in that weird sub genre of japanese B-country music.
how interesting! and yeah, it is spelt "pimavera" on both the back of the CD and in the lyrics booklet. track 7, "E simples" also seems to be in portugese!
yeah, seeing that this album in particular had never been uploaded anywhere online was really weird! seems like EeL was releasing music very often during the 2000's, and yet around half of her discography has never been uploaded anywhere online. her stuff IS pretty niche, though!
I love Kidorikko, especially the Kodomotachi no City era, with other wacky and powerful bands such as ZIN-SÄY!, Papaya Paranoia, Gekidan Kenkou, Bachikaburi (there are more these are just my favorite from that era)
Thank you for the mentions of other bands, I have a playlist of songs that are kind of similar to Kidorikko or just Japanese experimental/synthy heavy art-pop and wacky new wavish style music or alternative rock/pop adjacent music made around the 80s/90s and I have been looking far and wide for new artists to add.
That is a clip from a live performance of Momoiro Kingyo!! Here is the link: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-omEBlQPBLFE.htmlsi=ob5bnxMnFV3qVUtk
hmm... maybe? i'm not a super huge chakra fan, and i haven't watched every single live recording of them on the internet (unlike kidorikko lol). so i'm not sure what i'd upload haha!
this was pretty fun, I've been making it a goal of mine this year to explore a lot more new music and part of that extends to tracking down music that seems to have a minimal audience. (usually thru random deep diving on RU-vid or Bandcamp) I enjoyed listening to this all the way thru it was honestly very meditative.
