good list. have you ever tried film straw hats in yamato? some decent cross over with the colors. new shanks makes the top end seem pretty good but I won't know until I try it.
thx! i havent tried film yamato but i know quite a few ppl were trying film bonney with the same idea and it seems pretty strong I'll def be trying a supernova yamato build in OP10 tho >: )
@@FudelioTCG I tried the fortress build. I only tried it into Smoker and Iceberg though. I'm still cooking. I played Enel for locals and had a lot of bad match ups.
Issue is we're now at a point where any decks outside the top 5-7 cannot win event's at all. The difference between the meta decks and non meta is too big. Say Pg doffy, you can beat maybe half the meta but get absolutely slammed by the other half to the point game's are unwinnable They really need to ban cards to lower the power level. All they're gonna do is give a yellow a busted card so they can catch up but then give another colour an even stronger card to catch and it'll loop I really think to make a more fair game for every deck they need to ban some cards from every colour
OP9 is currently one of the most fair and diverse metas we've ever had. Having 5-7 top decks is so much better than the last sets, where it was either 1, 2, or maybe 3 decks that even stood a chance.
you should do a review the cards and do another tierlist I love the fact that you added a tier list at the end of the video amazing work highly underrated
If they have a 2 cost punk hazard card you can just ko a 4k of less for 4 don every turn. If that 2 coat has power reduce…. Its over. For 2 don you get to play monet, rest monet give 2 rested to lead give opponent character -1k, use leader ability ko 4k or less (5k or less w monet) return monet to hand. Rinse and repeat every turn for 2 don!
That would def be a spicy combo 🔥 I think a 2c would be easy to get rid of though so idk if it would stick against anything with KO and removal, but something like that could cause a lot of troubles for certain decks 🤓
@@FudelioTCG No you bounce Monet back to hand when cesar attacks and k.o.s the opponent each time. So once you get Monet in hand you have that play every turn the entire game
I think Doflamingo is favored against Lucci so I put him below. Tons of ppl played Lucci in 08 even tho BY Luffy was still the best deck. And I still put him in second here. We’ll see what happens tho 🫡
I actually think GP Doffy could be in the spice row. He has a decent MU against blue Doffy with birdcage and can sort of handle Lucci with Sugar and 10c Doffy but struggles against other decks. Will be interesting to see if anyone can cook with him in 8.5 tho!
@@FudelioTCGhe cooks doffy and Zoro so hard it’s not even close. But yeah it’s tough into other matchups. It’s really hard into Lucci in particular. Haven’t quite figured what tech to deal with it.
Made a bit of a custom build for Pluffy. Not what others would be running. We'll see how it goes, but once 9.0 hits, watch out world. Purple is back, and I have been waiting for this day >:D
May I point out (and I could be wrong) that you rarely pressure lethal when your board is strong? In first game even if u don't have hody you could assign dons and swing. I think that 8 9 9 11 or 8 9 10 10 were decent attemps to lethal since you can assume that one card is nocounter (parfume). In the second game there were 2 turns in which u had the number of attacks to win and he was short on hand. Take the turn with boa and law rested as example. Your idea was to wipe board (2 pieces) and you had four attacks. The first 2 attacks in that case have to be face with low don investment so that if he doesn't counter like a 5 you almost surely have lethal with hody then. If he counters you go back to plan boardwipe and clear the 2 pieces with ease since he now has even less resources in hand and you can even drop some other pieces.
Hi, thx for the comment :) I agree there were probably a few spots I could have attacked differently or pressured his life first instead of board. But a lot of the time, I knew I wouldn’t lose the next turn so I was trying to be safe. If I went for lethal with Hody to rest his blocker knowing that i lose the next turn if it doesn’t go through, then it’s not worth it when I know I can take an extra turn or 2. Risking lethal when the opponent is at 3 life and I have only 4 attacks for example, and one of my later attacks is likely only going to be 8-9k, and my opp has between 5-7 cards since they’re getting more from life, it’s hard to decide to go for it when doffy runs plenty of counter and he’s already used counterless cards like weevil and boa for his board. I agree with you I probably could have been more efficient though with testing his hand for counter and potentially having a secured lethal turn earlier tho.
I think 5c Drake makes a lot of sense and I've been considering slotting him in as well. Especially since we're losing Bonney to help against BY, and one of the worst things for us is when they go 2nd and they drop a 4c Kuzan on curve. It can really derail that matchup, so being able to get rid of it on 5-don with Drake would keep things under control.
Glad other people have been considering him too! I agree, I think it's a good tech for 2c Uta and 4c Kuzan, but I'm just not sure if there's really enough space for him in the end. Gonna keep testing him out, even if I take out 8c Rosi, maybe just as a 2-of, and see how I like it!
I would say either Purple Luffy, Katakuri, or even Doflamingo bcus he's so strong! Purple Luffy and Katakuri are probably the 2 most straight-forward ones and are easier to play IMO Whitebeard and Uta are also good options though
It's good! and congrats the player who made top 8, loved seeing Yamato top that event and I watched the matches he was on stream for. That list is essentially the standard Sky Aggro list from 07 that was popularized over here in Japan by a player named Laundry, with 2 Kikunojo teched in and the cheeky 1-of Zoro. It's really solid, but not much else I can say about it : ) I have an OP7 sky aggro yamato vid that has essentially the same list in it if you wanna check it out!
I won my locals today with Yamato. It's a list based on your sky aggro deck that you showed but I added Mihawk and Cracker as my own spin. Cracker won me all my games today. Only 3 rounds: Kalgara, Pudding, BY Luffy. Three different and tough meta leaders but I had a good run regardless. Nice! GGs and congrats on the win, that's awesome to hear. Glad the vid I made helped in some way, and yeah i think adding your own personal techs and changes is always the way to go. I like the list. I'm not the biggest fan of Mihawk in the sky island package but i do think he can get you crazy value sometimes. I just hate losing a lot of cards out of hand and if you use him to play Ohm and whiff it hurts really bad. Cracker is strong though for sure! He can make or break games so I totally understand putting him in. Overall nice twist on the classic sky aggro build tho
@@FudelioTCG that's a fair critique. The other option that this deck could run would be swapping out the mihawk and cracker for Franky and Kiko, like the list that got top 8. Cracker wins me so many games on his own. And I don't like Kiko not having counter power. Kinda like how you don't like committing too much to field, but instead I don't like having a potential dead draw. I tend to only play Mihawk if I can Ohm and already have holy in hand or if I have Cracker. And he can be used with Asura in a pinch.
Yeah Franky is great in sky island as well. Kikunojo is nice but yeah the counterless hurts. Running it at 2 isn't too bad though for MU like black and Bonney, and you do run 4 0c events so can always discard your counterless for the +3k counter.
My LGS Had a deal where when you preorder all 6 at once you get the set for 20% off. I got two sets to guarantee a playset of everything and in total after tax it only cost $125. Even if I only needed 4 of the 6 starters it was to good of a deal to pass up.

I always go back and forth with Banish Yamato. Sometimes I'll add it in if there are a lot of Enel in the meta. But in a black-heavy meta where it can get popped super easily i don't really think it's worth it.
thx! yeah, i actually think samurai is very strong in 8.5 cus Aggro dies to Doffy OP9 i'm still trying to figure out the best build but it might be either fortress or samurai. hard to tell right now i'll be making some more yamato vids for 8.5 meta tho : )

Obviously I can’t forget about my girl Yamato but Bonney has been my favorite leader to learn since like mid op07 and I still like her in op08. Unfortunately pudding is falling off for me. I can’t wait for the starter decks to come out because I have a decent build for her with a few of the new katakuri and new linlin cards. I’ve been hard struggling on the sim lately though. It feels like if I don’t make a little mistake I’m getting seriously high rolled lately. I went from 300 million berries on op bounty down to like 87 billion 😭 it doesn’t even make since how many times I have the upper hand and all of a sudden everyone just has every single little thing they need to beat me. I’m trying to take it with a grain of salt lol but it has me second guessing myself super hard.
Yamato and Bonney are probably my two faves right now :) Sorry you’re having some struggles on the sim. Don’t worry too much. Sim games can be weird since it’s really not the same as real life games. I make mistakes on the sim sometimes that i never make IRL. I would suggest recording some of your games and watching them back to see where you can improve! I do that sometimes after I stream. Most of the time I see a mistake I made that cost me the game or a different route i could have taken. Sometimes there’s nothing you can do, but a lot of the time it’s a mistake we just didn’t catch :)
I feel like a tier list right now is still to early. op 09 is one month in in jp and purple struggles with board removal they aren't really designed for much just little bit of everything but nothing overwhelming unlss you high roll with 7c luffytaro. the reason bonney wins is because she has a variety of skills don recuperation, high end blockers, resting characters, and freezing. i think Bonney should be tier 1. up untill st18 and op09 pluffy got really good. there's more to it but this is just hind sight
It’s just an update to my predictions. I’ll be making more as the meta evolves. I agree that Bonney has more tools and Pluffy is very straightforward tho. So ppl can tech for him more easily. He is really strong right now tho.

Haha I’ve had some other comments saying that Spice to me doesn’t mean they’re not tier 2-3 worthy, just that they have potential but haven’t shown any results yet to back it up.
