Well hello there, I'm D3trois, welcome to the D3trois Variety Channel. I'm a french artist, writer, storyteller and doctor in condensed-matter physics.
Learn with me how to draw, sketch, write and more! Boy it's going to be a crazy journey in here. You can expect one weekly videos (Sunday is when I upload, alternating between digital art and abstract ink drawings).
This channel is for everyone. Here we are all about learning new things, being open-minded and making progress in any area that seems useful or fun. The reason behind this channel is to document the process of upgrading my creative skills, and maybe serve as a log for anyone who wishes to learn stuff like I do.
Subscribe for weekly videos, and welcome to my channel!

You hit the nail on the head when you said that they work best when you use them for the purpose they were intended for. So a second piece of paper is used for graphite or charcoal drawings. A glove meant for drawing on a Wacom tablet is used for that purpose. Use latex gloves for oil painting or airbrush. It’s not rocket science. But those rules are just guidelines so if you draw with wielding gloves and you like it, use them.
Sometimes when I'm in a slump I'll practice drawing shapes. Squares, circles, triangles, rectangles, ect... It helps with just starting with the basics and moving to more complicated designs. Most things are just basic shapes anyway.
I'll think about it, I'll have to remake quite a few of the cells that I put together on the fly and that probably wouldn't work in a general case. I'll add a pinned comment when I do it :)
Mobius style has become just that- a "style" like DC comics style from the likes of Kirby. No longer is anything ripped off when an artist emulates Mobuis but simply they are taking what has been done and carrying over for the next generations.
It's hard to say, most of the time it is random. Often, before filming a video I will take a notepad or post-it and scribble a pattern on it. Depending on what it is, I will try to change a thing or two, tweak it, such as the spacing, the width etc. Sometimes a similar pattern with a different pen will give a different result. Most of the time it is just a question of what feels good in the hand and wrist. For this video though I definitely tried to make a map, so it's a bit different, I already knewwhat I wanted. Even though you don't see it in the videos, I almost always make a quick scribble on a sketching pad before I decide if the pattern is worth it. You have no idea how many pages of scribbles that never made it to video I have aha
@RikThunder33 oh yeah I definitely sketched this one first, to make the various neighborhoods and the river outline. I don't sketch the abstract patterns but I almost always sketch when I want to represent something clear. Although I didn't sketch the buildings individually for this one
It is because they mostly wanted you to use (buy) Adobe Animate or Adobe Flash. Maybe it's designed this way to give you a taste of animating so you get the full product dedicated to it
I bought a similar one, I was in doubt because I had seen a lot of videos of people using an 8Bit Do mini controller. But I noticed that there were few buttons and that I would have to map the buttons twice, once for a simple button click and another for a button click and hold, just to have more commands mapped. I found it not very useful, and started looking for alternatives. Mine has 12 buttons, 3 clickable knobs and 3 layers. I'm loving it.
omg i came across his works on pinterest but never knew that the art had some age to it and who the artist actually was! thank you so much for this <3 loved your artist vision of it aswell
I have a Pilot G-TEC (C-TEC?) 0.3 and everyone who tries my pen thinks I'm mad for wanting to use such a thing. It's a skinny pen and I keep dropping it so the tip gets bent, but it keeps working
@@D3troisVarietyChannel I get a bit confused with the model names, it's G-TEC-C or HI-TEC-C _depending on the country_ - there is a good article by JetPens explaining this. I swear I tried a 0.5mm 10 years ago and I was obsessed, but I can not find it anywhere. Anyways - I would suggest you try each one _if you can find them_ 0.25mm, 0.3mm, 0.4mm, 0.5mm I liked all of them. Btw they're gel pens.
Ce dessin la a été fait sur iPad pro, dans le logiciel procreate. La plupart de mes dessins digitaux sont sur photoshop sur une tablette XP-Pen 22E pro
I loved the video ! A few questions though : Have you tried isograph pens ? I have a 0.1 mm one which is great ! What is the sketchbook you are drawing on ? And finally what is your PhD based in ?
Merci beaucoup 😄
