Owned the role for more than 20 years. Redefined who Wolverine should be. Brilliant actor who nailed it everytime in every movie. But this was a really lame audition. :)
've known plenty of charmingly seductive straight men who love having gay men compliment and gush all over them....why not, positive attention feels good no matter WHO it comes from...so I wasn't convinced Hugh is anything but straight even after all that eye contact, bearhugging, lifting and lips coming ever so close to each other. That is HOWEVER until he moved in and kissed the camera lens...I mean that's just WAY to "Marilyn" to be 100% hetero.
Ouch, that audition sucked. Amazing how every great actor had to start somewhere. Good for aspiring actors to see auditions like these and realize that they could be great, keep at it.
The greatest Wolverine ever "BuT hE's ToO tAlL" tf outta here he got the core personality of the character, the feral screams and the look down so fucking right that i dont give af
*Meanwhile at the auditions:* Stan Lee: _"This is a nice guy but Wolverine is short and ugly."_ 20th Century Fox: _"Yeah, but this guy's pretty."_ Lee: _"Okay. But can we find someone who fits Wolverine's description?"_ Fox: _"Sure. But this fellow is sooo pretty."_ Lee: _"How about someone who's 3 inches taller than Wolverine? I just want to be true to the story."_ Fox: _"Story, yeah. We're going to be faithful to all of your comicy books, Stan. Did you see how pretty this guy is?"_ Lee: _"He doesn't even sound Canadian. Just make sure I get a good cameo. Excelsior!"_ *Twenty years later, Hugh Jackman is still playing a tall, pretty guy who calls himself the Wolverine for some reason.*
