GAEA 2 is great, still with many updates coming, I think it is best to use any app for various needs, I have not had any issues with GAEA and I also do not like limiting my self to one app only and try anything out there as each one offers different features!
Thank you @UnchartedWorlds glad you are enjoying the Channel, each weekend regular uploads of new videos will be added to my channel, and I will add Substance Painter to my list, thanks!
Hi can you talk about the material for that terrain in UE5. I've had some issues importing the Gaea2 exported texture into UE5, I mean it imported but it did not look the same as exported map, I'm not sure if I messed something up when importing or if there is some setting I have to make sure is checked for the albedo map to look the same when imported into UE5. Anyways great content, I've put your channel on all notifications! please more of this stuff! Break down the importing and setting up the terrain etc :)
Thank you for the support! Here’s how you can address the issue with your terrain material uncharted make surethat your Gaea export settings are correct (16-bit PNG or TIFF for better quality). In UE5, also check the texture settings, and make sure the compression settings are set to "Default" for color textures. For your material, make sure the texture is plugged into the correct nodes (Albedo into Base Color) adjusting the material properties like roughness or normal intensity to better match what you see in Gaea, it never looks exactly the same, you might need to tweak the scale or UV mapping in UE5, hope this helps. You can join my Forum, as I have a dedicated UE5 space and you can post your questions there, and I’ll definitely create more content on this stay tuned!
@UnchartedWorlds, for importing Gaea2 textures into UE5, make sure the texture's color space is set correctly (sRGB for albedo maps). In UE5, go to the texture's properties and confirm it's set to the right color space. sometimes, textures may appear different if the compression settings/mipmap are not configured properly. I’ll definitely cover more on this topic in future videos. Stay tuned for a breakdown of terrain importing and setup! Thanks for watching and the support!
@@d369studios thank you, I am looking forward to next videos, I've set your channel to receive notifications when you publish new video, so that I do not miss anything! :)
Subscribed! Just the kind of information I need, Gaea2 and UE5 and Substance Painter :) Plz keep up the experiments and share with us. My favorites are terrains, large buttes and rocks and making them look realistic/cinematic in UE5, seems your channel focuses on that as well :)
13:14 ABC is an Alembic file. Re: 2:35 This is just a guess as I use C4D, the black shadows are probably due to not having global illumination on with just a single directional light.
@k_designs02 I think both apps offer unique set of tools and I don't like limiting my self to one app, they're both great, and WC has some amazing features as well
@@d369studios thanks...looking forward to it. The lack of good WorldCreator tutorials is keeping me away to buy this software otherwise would love to try it. Definitely more artist friendly as compared to Gaea. But dont have much time to watch those many 3 hour live stream videos on their channel
What maps are you trying to export? Did you hit F3 on each node you want to export? To keep comments short here, you can post your questions in my Forum here division369.mn.co/spaces/16324729/feed
@d369studios it's all good now, u managed to figure it out haha thanks. Though I'd asked how detailed should I make the height map, I'm currently developing an Archipelago for a game so working on each island separately.
I am extremely disappointed in Gaea2. It will not run on my machine and I have had terrible support from their team. I paid for early access and right now I am trying to get a refund. It is frustrating especially since Gaea 1 has been such wonderful software.
Thanks for the great overview. Next, you should try out the latest release of MoCapade --- our markerless mocap product. You just upload a video and you get back the animation. This way people can easily get exactly the motions that they want. It's just in beta and is constantly improving but it's already pretty good for getting rough animations. I'd love to see what you can do with it.
Hi Michael, thanks! Would using a solid white backdrop _wall) help the capture? Also, the hand motion could be captured better maybe if a separate ML network focused on just up-resing that area of the video for better finger motion. I will try the Mocapade next for sure!
@@d369studios Actually, no. The method is trained on complex videos with a moving camera and doesn't benefit from simple backgrounds -- in fact the current version may work worse with simple studio backgrounds (we will change that). Hand motion does use a separate network but isn't perfect in this beta release. We will be improving that and adding facial motion also.
thanks for the tutorial, I have a question about clay render, its instant crash for me , is it global bug for everyone? also I don't understand why quadspinner block comments on all their videos, very weird
Another cool trick exporting to Unreal Engine (or just Exporting) Using the node is you drag all the outputs to the UE/Export Node & an option pops up to add new input. A lot of people didn't know this.
can we just make tiled maps by stiching side by side with gaea and make irregular pattern other than grid? could we move seed by dragging for better seams?
In Gaea, you can create tiled maps by stitching them side by side, and you have some control over how the tiles interact to avoid repetitive grid patterns. However, creating an irregular pattern rather than a strict grid might require some additional steps.
Great video. I have never used GAEA but 2.0 kind of sparked my interest. Sadly there are basically no videos on it. Glad to have found yours. Although GAEA 2 is pretty buggy and unstable atm.
Welcome @Popkorn28, it was hard for me to find decent videos when I was starting out, will share more stay tuned! Again, welcome to the Channel, thank you for your support!
Awesome! And thanks alot! Can you tell me where can I get gaea 2.0 bridge? Since I can't find it in plugin's option? Where can I download gaea 2 bridge?
To install the Gaea 2.0 Bridge in Unreal Engine 5: Download, and get the Gaea 2.0 Bridge plugin from the Gaea website or the Epic Games Marketplace. Install and extract the plugin files and place them in the Plugins folder of your Unreal Engine 5 project directory. Enable and open UE5, go to Edit > Plugins, find the Gaea 2.0 Bridge plugin, and enable it. Then restart Unreal Engine for the changes to take effect. Hope this helps!
Awesome stuff. But whenever I export terrain into unreal, when you are for example in third person walking and getting close to the let's say mountain area there are a lot of "jagged" edges. Even if the texture is awesome you can still see those unrealistic jaggines on the peaks etc...and then I have to you use smooth tool...but then it breaks those peaks which are needed to be "naturally sharp". Btw I saw a guy using zbrush to create mountains and slopes...and those look really natural even in unreal. Hopefully you can make some tuts about how to properly export and make stuff for unreal engine. Keep it comming :) Cheers!
It may be a resolution issues, but it is hard to say without seeing some screenshots. I also do use the smoothing option sometimes in UE5, but this can be time consuming assigning it to the entire Terrain. I'll be posting more detailed videos. Thanks!
Thank you! I will be sharing more videos, GAEA 2 has a very simple & easy to use UI, and now some of their nodes have the erosion, and you can start creating really cool Terrains in a short amount of time.
