Please note we try to be as accurate as possible but in many cases facts and figures have gotten lost over the many years. Old photos are very hard to come by also, so many of the same images are used in various videos. Times and dates get skewed over the years also, as do people and names. Remember, these videos are all about the story and are produced for entertainment purposes only.
Yes it sure is quite busy, Was there this summer and campgrounds were pretty much full and that was end of August. I'll be uploading a video on Cadomin in the next few weeks so stick around for that. Thank you for commenting and watching. It's really appreciated!!
My mom's family lived in Nordegg and she and her siblings were raised there in the 1930's. The drive west is quite beautiful. It is east of Nordegg that you first see the beautiful mountains rising before you.
It's aways a pleasure to hear from folks like you who knew of people who lived in these old towns. When I do videos of these old mine towns I see a lot of photos from a hundred years ago and more and see the people who actually lived there. They were real pioneers. Some of them had it pretty tough compared to today. Thank you for stopping by and watching and commenting. I'll be putting out a video on Cadomin in a few weeks also. Happy Thanksgiving.
The British Army had a semi permanent adventure training camp in Nordegg, i was there in 1987, no idea when i closed, i think its now a provincial campground.
Thanks for the bit of information. Something I didn't know. I'll be putting up a video on Cadomin in a few weeks so be sure to stick around. Thank you for watching. It's appreciated.
I was hoping to travel out past Nordegg this summer and go up the parkway to Jasper but the fires were through there in Jasper so I just went north of Nordegg to Cadomin and Hinton. Thanks for watching.
Just went from saunders to the dam on the boat a few weeks ago it's a wicked trip seen a 2.5 foot dead trout just below the dam and caught a little Brown Trout too
Very interesting story. In the mid seventies to the mid eighties myself ang and couple of my late hunting buddies overnighted in Nordegg almost every year on our fall hunting trip to the Opabin Creek area to the north of Nordegg. My friends have passed on now however I still have many memories of that area! 👍🌹
I was there sometime in the 70's and just went back through there this summer. Also did a trip to Cadomin and will have a video of that in the next few weeks. Thanks for watching!
Was there back in first part of August. Never saw any moose. Was up in Cadomin same time and lots of bears as usual. I'll be putting out a Cadomin video in a few weeks. Hey thanks for watching! I appreciate it!!
@@oldlostminer It's a reminder just how dangerous these boys jobs were back in the gold rush days. The Mollie Kathleen was checked annually by MSHA, had regular rehab work bring the bad parts up to regs/code (or should have at least) and was even employing people with actual mining experience to do daily inspection and scaling work. Them boys who did this before modern practices were as tough as a $5, dive bar steak to say the least!!
It's literally everywhere I like to jet boat all over this area and you'll see the hills smoking all the time in the summer huge coal deposits everywhere
Nice to see been to Virginia City for 4 days and you showed it 🏆 Now i might have go to these other areas thank you for the history explore and added adventure ⛏️🇺🇸
My friend and neighbour, started his Northern mining career at Port Radium, in 1981-82. Then moved to the new mine Echo Bay's Lupin mine at Contwoyto Lake NWT. I started there in late 88, after he left for Northern Manitoba. I ended up Moving to Northern Manitoba in middle 2000, and reside there to this day.
I worked with Wayne Zigarlic. His father was the mine manager for Echo Bay at Lupin about that same time. Thanks for watching! New video every Saturday.
I took my family there when my children were young and we rode the Verde Valley Railroad that's not too far away. Thanks for sharing this most interesting history.
Great story as usual. Sorry about all the post comments, you responded to. I was binge watching the old videos. I think I've watched a lot of them. You commented that you had mined in the past. Where, did you have a claim? Ive told you ,i did a little mine work on my grandfathers old ranch in Arizona. That was part of my interest in old mines. Keep up the good stories.
I use to mine in Atlin BC Canada. It's a small town about 2 hour south east of Whitehorse Yukon. The gold camp there was started in in 1898 same time as the Klondike in Dawson City. There are still a few miners there today but you need really big equipment to get into the deeper creeks. All the easy pickings are long gone. Do you still get out and do any prospecting? Thanks for watching!
When I did some mine work ,I was a teenager . Spent my summers on my grandfathers ranch. There were several claims on the ranch. I'm getting a little to old now to do any exploring. Living my imaginations now through your stories.
