@@PaulReed-lj2ym glad you liked it I might do froggy went a courtin next because it’s related to this one. Also want to do Camptown races. The 1840s and 50s music is 🔥🤣
awesome! and can i have a question? i'm agonizing how do i press Fa on E(1st)string on normal tuning in oldtime fiddle posture. I can't reach my finger for 1st string Fa because of my hand is pushed to body.
Beautiful! ❤❤❤ Love your playing style. What type of banjo is that? I have a 1880s luscombe that sounds very similar, well it did before the head cracked.
Thank you Annette. This is an S S Stewart banjo (1890s). My playing style is learned mostly from Clifton Hicks and then also listening to recordings of other players that I like. And some things that I learn by accident just playing around. By head cracked do you mean the drum head ripped or do you mean that the metal rings that hold the drum head down broke?
@@Yallquietendown sorry, I meant the vellum drum head tore. Hoping the replacement vellum will have the banjo sounding similar, as the sound was pretty much perfect, IMO. Hard to find one as thin as the one that tore. Those old SS Stewarts seem to always sound amazing. 😍
@@annettemundy3640ah that’s awful. I hope you can get it back to how you like the sound. I had a calfskin on this Stewart and mine ripped too. I replaced it with a plastic white “frosted” head. I also replaced the original tailpiece with one that puts more pressure on the strings and got a more plinky sound which I like.
@@annettemundy3640white frosted plastic 100%. When I bought this banjo it had a clear plastic that I didn’t like. Also I like labella 17 nylon strings. That’s all preference though as everyone has their preferred sound there’s not a “wrong” sound. The right sound is the one you like
Let this 30 y.o. who's been playing violin since kindergarten say this. Keep practicing, you'll get better. Normally I'd be saying rude stuff, but as I just woke up, I'm not in that kind of mood. So just keep practicing my dude
I like that. Gotta get me one of them banjos and give it a try. I had a hard back banjo and put the picks on an learned some picken, but between the heavy thing and the cramping picks I just didn’t enjoy it. Love your sound.
@@darrengarlough5121 hey Darren - you should get one banjo is fun to play. You have any questions you’re welcome to email me I have it listed on my about section. A lot of the techniques I used I learned from watching videos of Clifton hicks
I got a sunburn watching this video and all the little hay fibers are making me itch. That was just two minutes, imagine doing it your whole working life. Thanks for sharing.
Man this is so good.. I love this song, I've spent a good amount of time working on it for banjo, its still got a little way to go before I'll record it..
