Mr. Gardener

Hi, I'm Matt, a self-employed professional gardener with over 8 years of experience. Through my RU-vid channel, I want to help you find the best gardening tools, whether you're a professional or just a keen amateur gardener.

There is a huge range of gardening tools out there, some of them very good, but others not worth spending your hard-earned cash on. So allow me, through my garden tool reviews, to sort the good from the bad so you don't have to.

I also share tips and advice on all aspects of gardening, from planting and growing to pest control and lawn care. So whether you're a beginner or a seasoned pro, I hope you'll find something useful on my channel.

Thanks for watching!

Great video👍 I've been looking for a direct comparison between the hs45 and hd60. Plot twist. Right at the end you mentioned the hs45 as a better choice. Ok mind made up. I'm getting the stihl hs45 although this husqvarna looks good. I'm afraid of the vibration and lack of an adjustable handle on the stihl, but I want something powerful and able to cut through tougher branches.

Hello Matt Im Mike from the great state of Alabama USA. I really like your tool reviews especially hand pruners or as you say secateurs so I purchased the number 8 size and I believe I will really like them I just wish some of these tools you share were sold in the USA. Please keep the great videos coming. God bless. Proverbs 3:5-6

Thanks for the honest review! I'm looking at doing this myself with an ego mower - how many batteries would you recommend to get through a days mowing? I'd like to be able to do up to 6 hours of mowing per day if possible or otherwise look at adding weeding beds/borders + planting and other services to put less reliance on the mowing side of the business
@MrGardener18
@MrGardener18 Месяц назад
It's always hard to say but for 6h you would want something like 4 7.5 possibly. The way I did it was to gradually build up and get the batteries as you need them. Not sure this will help.

The screws which hold the blades in place down the full length of blades, do these get fully tightened ? Or left with a bit of play to allow blades to move ?
@MrGardener18
@MrGardener18 Месяц назад
They do want to be tight but not over tightened so the blades can't move.

Like the instructions. At the bottom position there is a small screw on the interior sleeve that stops the pruner from coming apart. This screw is labeled as SP-452 “Stop Screw for the Handle”. How do I install this screw? Thank you so much!
@MrGardener18
@MrGardener18 2 месяца назад
@@chipkennaugh5716 the easiest way is once you've put the tools together handle and shafts est you then need to make sure the shafts aren't lock (as if you extending the but not letting the pin drop in locking hole) so they slide up and down freely this will allow you to push the handle into the shaft and secure with the said screw. I hope this helps it sounds really complicated when writing it but it's really simple.

Can you help....How do you repair a bent tooth on a hedge trimmer? Electric in my case.
@MrGardener18
@MrGardener18 2 месяца назад
@@sleepinglioness5754 Stihl do sell a bent tooth straightener kits for hedge cutter and I believe they've have done a video on its so worth looking for that. In practice you want to secure the blade on the vice with the offending tooth up then with pliers or something to grip the tooth just bend it back I've not tried it and I'm sure it is quite difficult to be it back perfect but worth a Go. Is your LM1903 still working? 🙂 I want the buy one. Now we have a special offer in my country that when you buy an EGO mower and than you buy another equipment you have a second 5Ah battery just for 10€. So when i want my second equipment EGO trimmer, is it useable it with 5Ah battery? Im worry about the weight. And why you dont use some of EGO trimmer? Thank you.🤝
@MrGardener18
@MrGardener18 2 месяца назад
My lm1903 is still working and I use it for rough cutting now. The only problem I've had with it is the drive is now very temperamental locking the rear wheel and generally not working that well. I'd still very recommend it though as it had a hard life. There are 2 reasons I don't currently use other tools the First is I don't have a dealer that closes if anything goes wrong and second is the weight all the batteries I have would be too heavy to use in a hand tool so would have fork out more on a lighter set. The 5h battery is just about ok for the hand tool but I'm weak so I'm sure you'll be fine.

One of the best "tools" I discovered for "gardening" work is: a pair of 10€ welding gloves. Pruning of all the smal, tiny brenches and sproats of cut of brenches? With those gloves and some muscles I´m just so much faster doing it like our ancestors: Fist around the brench and full force ramming it down, ripping everything in the way of by the impact force. It´s faster than a pruner, it´s fun and arms are getting bigger; no downside 😅

I have the hedge trimmer attachment.....im doing a service on the piece but have a problem....the 2 blade retainer nuts are deeply sunk into the chassis....7 mm if I'm not mistaken....very difficult to get a socket on to....most of my equipment is Stihl and this is one of the worst design flaws I have ever came across....once I get the 2 nuts n bolts out I will either use washers to push the nut higher or make the recess wider by drilling the edges giving more access

I took mine apart, cleaned it and regreased it. It moves slowly but moves. I thought I put in too much grease but see it was about how much you added. I went back and removed a lot of the grease I added in the gear box prior to seeing your video. Should I go back and add more in the port? What else could make it go slowly as I cleaned the blades very well and wd'd them again once reinstalled. Thanks
@MrGardener18
@MrGardener18 3 месяца назад
Assuming the blades aren't too tight. I agree with you and Add a little more grease through the port shouldn't do any harm. It can be difficult to get the grease everywhere it needs to be.

£120! well i would not even consider spending that on a boot, try Elten safety boots, they are well made and stand up to everyday work use, sometimes you have to blame yourself, i had never heard of U Power, i have just ordered a pair from Amazon, £ 29.50 Upower UC100, i won't spend much over £50 on work boots and Elten is my go to brand, there sizing is pretty much spot on and they last years of hard work.

@MrGardener18 3 месяца назад
We all have a budget and prices we are willing to pay. In my experience it has been a false economy to buy cheap boots which end up only lasting about a week and are heavy and unfortunately. I appreciate the suggestion of Elten I have seen them about but will look in more detail now. Thanks again.
