Freddie Fender was invited to visit our Elementary School (James Bonham) in McAllen,Tx. If I recall correct around 1975..!! His Rich Baritone voice intrugued me..!!He had just filmed a movie in & around Roma,Tx.
In fond memory of the late great legendary Freddy Fender LOVE this Song , always have and always will ! It was the Theme Song used in the 1981 Universal Film '' The Border '' with Jack Nicholson , Harvey Keitel , Valerie Perrine and Warren Oates .

Very underrated movie by Jean Renoir. Nice matchup of the music with the imagery. Love Robert Ryan, one of my favorite actors of the Old Hollywood. By the way, Bob met Ryan: he hosted a party for Dylan after one of his important early concerts.
All this story like around Harold was so beautiful, a true masterpiece actually. I loved that so much and was waiting new episodes to know more about that. This video reminds about good days and great story. I will always remember this story line with special warms in my heart hovewer ending was sad.
Absolutely marvellous. It is film noir-ish to the hilt. I see a solitary figure walking down a desolate rain-splattered streetraincoat draped over one shoulder and a fedora one sided on his head. His woman just broke it off. Sinatra would love to be in this.
What an incredible man, Hugh is. His trumpet playing’s phenominal as is his message to all of us about the struggle of truly downtrodden people. My family lived in S.A., during the Soweto riots. We are white Scots & English, who have witnessed & have absolute sympathy & actioned against the struggle for people wanting to be treated as fellow human beings, a God given right. Well done, Hugh, My love & care for all you represent, JaneR
One of the best themes in the show. I feel like it really presaged Akira Yamaoka's more chill tracks from the Silent Hill series. Dunno why I don't hear people talk about it more, maybe because people don't like Harold? Lol
J'espère que on va rencontrer la chance que le Malpertuis suite complète (c'est presque 40 minutes) revient devant le public dans une salle de concerts. On ne joue pas fréquemment de la musique des films. C'est trôp dommage.
Hovhaness composed at least 2 monumental MOUNTAIN symphonies & this one specifically for a Washington state peak that I hope to visit up close someday. Climbing it will not be possible for me, due to arthritis in my left knee & ankle but being near this wonderful mountain will have to suffice. At least I was able to climb St. Helens before it’s 1980 eruption. Hovhaness also paid tribute to St. Helens, however, for me the music is not as memorable as for either THE MYSTERIOUS MOUNTAIN or THE HYMN TO GLACIER PEAK. Maybe Hovhaness was under time pressure but the St. Helens Symphony has a too typical & cliched approach to the actual explosion despite some fine lyrical moments prior to it. The two great Mountain symphonies here are a wonderful & transcendent tribute to nature & have some of the moving spiritual qualities found in Hovhaness‘ THE PRAYER OF ST. GREGORY - perhaps the greatest 5 or so minute composition that I have yet to hear. The photos above are really appreciated & encourage me to visit Glacier Peak if only close to its base.
You could almost bet when watching the beginning of a movie and the music started, setting the mood and at the same time, whatever was on your mind, it all went away as you were enveloped in the beauty your ears were now telling you, yes it was a Bernard Hermann masterpiece..I have his CD on some of his best music writing and it is amazing all that he did. And yes, his music was haunting as once you heard it, it stayed in your mind never forgetting it.
