@aquodor I saw a video of picture of what Ann Blyth looks like today....and she still looks just as ageless and beautiful as she does here....but yes I agree she is really beautiful here! :D
@LittleOrca Actually, the tail was made of foam latex which is a type of rubber that was first used in The Wizard of Oz, and it's still used in makeup today.
@RaWrZzZz Yeah, I know what you mean, she sort of looks like Sierra Boggess as Ariel in the Little Mermaid on Broadway. Sierra Boggess also has a sort of baby face as well.
Ann Blyth brought both poignancy and mystery to Lenore, the beautiful mermaid and her singing voice was used to haunting advantage too. She was so lovely in this movie..and she still is. Thanks for sharing.
This is also made a long time ago, think 50s or even sooner, so the way to make a tail was not as adavanced as it we have it today. Some of the 'weakest' tails I have seen were in the Russian little mermaid movie from the 70s, but its still beautiful.
wow, unbelieveable, I was ten or twelve when I saw this on TV, never knew the title, but remembered ann blyth as the mermaid. that was my first crush on a movie star, early fifties, unreal
I just watched this movie today on my VHS.Its been one of my favorites for yrs. Probably the best portrayal of a mermaid on film, Anne Blythe is great. William Powell was excellent. This movie has comedy as well. Thanks for posting.
Oh! Thank you for posting this! It's the first Mermaid movie I ever saw!(waaaay back! Ack!)- It certainly did help greatly in shaping my eventual performance style. ~MeduSirena~
