Astro Bot is closer to what personality cores are to Valve than what Mario is to nintendo. If you want to stay within the realm of nintendo you could say Astro Bot is Sonys Cpt.McCloud.
I think the way the bots evolved is an interesting story, nobody expected them to rise as much as they did but I'm kind of glad for it (even if we lost Japan Studio in the process, what the fuck).
Ah man, really enjoyed Rescue Mission on PSVR 1. Still pissed that there wasn't a VR option for the new Astro Bot game. As much as I've enjoyed his previous iterations, I'm a bit skeptical of his ability to truly be the face of Playstation. Astro Bot himself lacks a distinct identity, mainly since he's pretty much limited to squeaks and gestures and dumb little dances; all of which are also done by the other bots in his universe. Maybe if they put him in a different setting where there weren't hundreds of other similar bots he'd feel a bit more unique? Even still, it would be a tough task to get audiences to bond with a character that can't talk imo. It's been done, but the challenge is real.
There's enough problems with porting over the new astro game to VR that I understand why they didn't do it. Rescue mission integrated motion controls into all the abilities and hid bots specifically in a way that works for a person in VR to physically look around for them. If AB was in VR it would just be like watching it on a big ass screen, and it's not like it's first person also which can help with immersion. I think the choice makes sense personally There are definitely still questions about the characters ability to be that mascot though, i agree. It's clear that's what they want him to be/what he is right now, but I agree that his design is a little too "default character" and the bots all looking like him doesn't help. But the foundations of the world/level style they have and the clear love for platformers it shows (plus the great use of the ps5 controller) is such a solid foundation that I think they can do a gradual pivot into a more standalone character and pull it off well. They have a talented team and I deciding to give them the benefit of the doubt
I wonder if the success of Astro Bot is enough for Playstation to consider letting Team Asobi work on different projects again. Cough, Cough, Gravity Rush.
That's the dream. That Japan studios closing down doesn't mean their IPs get traded in purely for Astro. But GR will probably never get another sequel, it just never got popular enough
I think the new astro bot could've pulled a couple things to make it 100% standalone with no references and still been a super fun game in contention for GOTY. The other IP stuff is fun but not what makes it great imo. The question is, will they ever actually make that separation? Or will they always tie him to other playstation stuff in some way?
Nah theres no need for a morality system GOT did a great think making your final choice morally grey, plus she wont have the same moral dilemma as Jin since shes not a samurai.
While I love the Mythic Tales, and agree they're the best part of GoT, and I love the Legends mode... the only supernatural things GoY needs is more Mythic Tales AND Legends 2 anything else would unnecessarily intrude upon the fantasy that GoT delivered, that being the spageti western/Kurosawa Samurai. And hopefully the combat system will be improved, I love GoT's combat but while I'll never be like the people who can do a no hit Platinum Survival or a no death Lethal SP run, I would like to see it expanded upon with proper mechanics instead of the 'quirks' that are used now.
No. You did NOT cook with this one, don't cook ever again, lad. If you want these things, just go and play assassin's creed... don't infect GoT with this woo woo magic bs
@@Mirror371 not to the point of it being gamebreaking, it's an exaggeration and stylization of things.... you're not fighting a 500 meter tall olympian god like you're in ac odyssey
3 and 4 is something i disagree. I personally do it do you think that the reason why ghost of tsushima is above the rest of current rpg feudal japan games is because of its somewhat grounded immersive combat. Sure there some fantastical elements like the guiding wind and getting hit by lightning but thats it. If you know that if the add more fantastical elements to the game you will become just a normal japanese game like rise of ronin and Nioh which i think would be a very bad move. Tho for legends mode go crazy with it honestly. Imagine you can travel to Hokkaido with flipped world instead of just normal world it's supernatural fucking crazy shit. That would be cool.
alot of people would have to disagree with few of these takes like supernatural stuff, turning into an animal, etc imagine you're having a samurai showdown and the opponent literally takes out 6 more arms with katana or turns into a wolf, that would be a horror to watch. Foundations of ghost of series lies in being close to real, for supernatural stuff you should play other games, not turn one genre into another, imagine how bad doom eternal would be if they suddenly turned into a stealth genre, pure horror.
Fair enough. I personally think there's a spot it can reach that's still a solid middle ground between fantasy/supernatural and realism, but I think the first game held back juuuust a little too much on that front
3 and 4 no… GOT is awesome because it’s not over the top, it’s fairly realistic (in a sense) and is historically accurate, even with 2 you just seem like you want GOT to be another souls like / Assassins creed RPG. The game is good because it’s in its own lane and we should be hoping it stays this way. You make good points too!
First game is only historically accurate on the very outer layers of it. Devs already stated they prioritise fun over historical accuracy. Otherwise I agree with what you’re saying, shouldn’t get too fantastical.
To each their own. Again I love Legends and the Mythic tales so I think the series could really thrive with some more supernatural stuff in the main game this time around. But totally understand why some ppl might disagree
I mean Jins' story is finished We got to see the climax between Jin and shimura, what actually happened to his dad, and much more in the side quest for the other characters After that, there's not much to do. If the sequel follows up after the mongols invading Tsushima and now Jin has to fight the shogun, it would be out of character for Jin to fight the shogun and all of japan because of what he did in the first game It's best that the game takes place 400 years after the events of tsushima, so that way, there are more weapons available, cooler stances like 2 swords, and the era that the sequel takes place in would make a great story line
@@mightycake3373 Yeah I stand by my original statement. It’s implied that Jin fully accepts the moniker of The Ghost, so who knows what that does to him over time. I would compare it to Batman; he starts out doing it for the right reasons, but as the years carry on the lines become blurred. It becomes more difficult to determine if he is in the right or apart of the problem. They could have continued his story in many different ways. They could have broken the mold of the character they had made and flesh him out more, which is something that his character seriously needed. Kazumasa had more depth to him than Jin did. They could have made him a more complex character that shatters the original perception on him in the first game. Make no mistake, I’m going to buy the game. Hell I might even love it more than Tsushima, but I’ll always be sour over Jin.
@@mightycake3373 But I see what Sucker Punch is doing. They will do what Assasins Creed can’t seem to do. Each game will take place in the same setting but during different time periods
Imagine if there was a Ghost of Tsushima game where the open world was set in the legends world. All that supernatural stuff. I think this would be awesome, but I'm still very excited for Ghost of Yotei.
Sucker Punch has said that they won’t lean too heavily into the mythical side of things. They’ll play around with it but they won’t go full Sekiro with it.
This could be a cool side game (miles morales-esque) but I agree with others that the mainline series still needs to be somewhat grounded to keep a consistent tone
I've been playing GoT recently and honestly wtv they've shown so far makes me really happy cuz it looks like an upgrade to an already good game. It's just too bad that some seem to be ONLY focusing on the female mc.
The MC hate is dumb asf, but I literally knew it was coming the second she showed up on screen. Super annoying but hey, guess they'll have to boycott a game thats almost guaranteed to be pretty baller so their loss
I have a couple sekiro related videos on my main channel (see description). My general thoughts: one of my favourite games of all time, my favourite combat ever. It's also the FS game with the most Quality Control, outside of maybe DS3
But deadlock has great character designs though... this isn't the debunk you think it is. This isn't about woke, Valorant is woke for example, but the characters look great, cosplayers are excited to portray them, there's plenty of fanart of them, etc.
Awesome breakdown of the game. Good job 👍 Maybe I'll eventually get to it someday (it's below Bloodborne on my unfathomable backlog), but copious invisible walls in this year two thousand twenty four of our lord and saviour Jesus fucking Christ?! What?! Bros need to put some rocks or logs or shit in the way, ffs. Not like they didn't have the poly budget for it! And if you can't walk into the little room, DELETE THE ROOM! Oh, unrelated, but I finally got a PSVR 2 and RE Village is pretty cool so far.
If you play this before BB I'll kill you lmao Yeah it instantly dates the game by like 10+ years even though it looks nice. Just feels like im playing a really amazingly held up ps3 game at points. Lot of potential though if they learn the right lessons from this game And ayy nice! What else you thinking of picking up?
Yeah I'm excited for this channel to just be casually talking about games I've been playing and quick thoughts that pop into my head. Really stripping things down to the basics
Pretty delusional to equate Deadlock to concord as the only thing they share is being hero based, but yes I also disagree it's solely the genre that made it fail, I'd say everything played together, from wokeness, boring characters, boring premise, oversaturated market, failed marketing, price point, offering nothing new, looking cheap as gotg knock off despite their graphics, not establishing character lore to make people engaged, same old game modes and being an easy target for ridicule. And I don't believe F2P will save it as it's become the Morbius of video games.
The actual gameplay seemed fine? I think the main problem (coming from a concept artist) was just the terrible character design. they had big colourful setpieces but so many of the characters were just bland, had basically just random clothes on or extremely boring armour and just, terrible and i mean terrible colour palettes - either drab and muted or like they threw darts at a colour wheel
Absolutely. Concord didn't LOSE a ton of players quick- it never got them on board to begin with. And considering the core gameplay looked fine enough to at least put up a halfway decent player count, the bigger problem was clearly the unappealing nature of the style/characters/setting
Oh shit, he do be speedrunning those video essays. I huh.. do think it was bad. But yeah the biggest issue is that nothing stands out (except that they wasted money on story cinematics??) but I really don't think they knew who their audience was. They couldn't even explain the game during the beta. It really feels like people had no idea what they were doing, or at least there was no clear vision for what the game should be (again, besides its story). And you probably can't sell a game is you don't even know who you're supposed to sell it to.
I'm sure there were some crazy changes that happened during the production of this game. This doesn't look like 8 years of vision, it looks like 8 years of turbulent decisions and changes that left us with a game that doesn't even know what it wants to be
I might be the odd one out here, but I usually find crossovers come across as try-hard fanservice. They're usually hokey and don't really make sense. I usually get shark-jumping vibes too, like a franchise is failing and will try anything to artificially drum up some interest. Occasionally they can be done pretty well, but it's not really something I'm clamoring for more of.
Understandable. I think a lot of video games are hokey and don't make sense anyways so if that's the case I might as well see a bunch of characters I love haha
Damn, im first to comment, subscribe, and like anything on this channel! Good Channel idea; I like your original video ideas and scripts a lot, so if you can make short videos without having to edit too much; just getting your opinion out there, im all for it.
