The usual scutter, the lads and ladies making the real money never get their soft clean hands dirty anyway. Without quotas milking cows isn’t far off slavery.
Looks like too many cows in one group. And they have to walk too much to the robots. Would be better if the robots were in the middle, separating the herd in half into two groups.
More lely videos need to be explained in this fashion and emphasis on grazing routines and the range of cows that suit the robot, cow with 3 teats etc, the fear of robotic milking need to be explained and diminished.
I have a question. If you start changing over breeds of cattle from a high milk cow like Holstein to a hybrid meat and milk cow like Fleckvieh can you adjust the treat machine to allow for that? If you've decided to focus on introducing say the Fleckvieh due to it's long lifespan and end carcus weight it would be a shame to reduce the vitamin boost they get simply because they don't produce as much milk. Can the robot account and adjust the vitaminized treats to accommodate for that?
The Fleckvieh cow is the cow I'd use as well along with the Lely system. The only difference is I'd use the manure in an additional step with an Anaerobic digester to create electricity for the farm and perhaps connect it to the power grid to sell the resulting electricity as well and then fertilize with it once it had gone through the process. Just another income stream for the farmer because the manure of the calves etc and cows (especially during winter months when they are in the barn longer hours) could produce electricity. This would also aid in reducing the stigma cattle farming has as contributor to global warming when they'd become a solution instead.
Yes one huge maga/robot/concrete,cow barn, much better then having many small farmers letting cows to pasture. Yes industrial giants take all the money, yes wonderful.
