After Dark is my channel where I just geek out about the all the nerdy things that I love, while still trying to create a space that tries to be welcoming to everyone but especially those from marginalized communities that sometimes get overlooked in fandoms. Here is where I’m going to do trailer reactions, tv and movie and episode reviews, lists and rankings like of Star Trek captains by sexinessness, book reviews, fandom speculation, news breakdowns, and even more. I tend to have a focus on science fiction, fantasy and horror, with a specific love of Star Trek, but I also just love all movies and tv shows in general, so I’m sure we’ll touch on all of that here. After Dark is just the place where I and all of us get to geek out with other lovely people. And I do at least one video a week right here, with likely me doing even more, especially if there’s a tv show or movie that I’m really excited about.
I seriously appreciate your perspective in this video, it was presented in a sincere and logical fashion, unlike the unhinged leftism I see on MSM all day. Why is it that this kind of content is never recommended in my algorithm?
In all honesty I really want Mephisto to be the big bad guy in this series. But, I'm pretty sure its Nicholas Scatch will be the primary antagonist in this series.
I feel shutting down this literary universe was unnecessary. These books always ran separately from on screen stuff. I cannot help but feel like this was a power play by the production company that shall remain unnamed.
I'm not gonna hold my breath about Sharon being saved. Her hair wasn't added to the antidote so that's probably why it didn't work even if they gave it to her on time. Pretty sure Aubrey Plaza's gonna replace her as their green witch at some point.
Yeah I noticed that too. That whole sequence I was like "Uh guys aren't you forgetting someone?" However, when she drank the potion the escape was revealed. So... it must've done *something*, right?
I mean the series is named after the song from WandaVision. Tad strange to be upset with the presence of a musical sequence. And, you know, they do have the musical team *from* WandaVision as part of the team. Edit (spoiler): I do hope that Sharon is *not* dead. That seems to throw away a lot of potential in the future. I know she seems like she's just dragging everyone back, but why did they even include her to begin with if she was just going to be dead weight? Treats her more as "in service of the plot" and less as a character, which is a shame considering her role in WandaVision.
I’d describe it more as “in service of the joke” that being she very clearly doesn’t belong and doesn’t know what’s going on (moreso than the others). But it would be a shame if that’s all she was there for, since there’s clearly room for her to grow and bond.
Love your Sisko statuette in the background, in his proper, grey uniform. I don’t get why a lot of images show him in his pre S5 uniform, especially from “official” channels. Anyways, I just had to mention it 😁 Agatha is great so far, I’m looking forward to seeing how weird this season will get!
This was an important episode for the show, as we finally get an idea/show of the concept of what will make up the majority of this show. It also helped fill out the characters more, which is what I had hoped to see. Good setup for backstory for a few, and nice dynamic building. Debra Jo Rupp was a highlight as Sharon Davis, but many were great. Agree this has a strong episodic structure. Outside of WandaVision, this is the only MCU D+ show that really feels like a show rather than a stretched and chopped up movie. Quite liking this show.
Btw, something about Jennifer Kale. Considering her magic was taken away from her by that men for CENTURIES, and the fact that he is white and she is black, I kinda don’t want to say the word but maybe he used to “own” her but she escape (and loss her magic).
I'm enjoying the show a lot. It's just a lot of spooky fun, but not TOO spooky for me. I'm not a big horror fan, but family horror is OK with me and this show hits that spot :) Something I thought of when Teen tried to tell the others who he is and one said the sigil was so that magical people couldn't understand him ... could Sharon understand him, given she's (presumably) not magical? I'm not sure if she was there when they said that. If she survives, couldn't they just ask Teen to say again, but this time in Sharon's presence, and she could maybe translate what he actually said? Just a thought :) Also, given we don't really know how the Road works, when Agatha asked who Sharon was, was that her just being herself, or had her memory of her gone? Like, every time a person dies, the others forget who the person was? Just another thought :)
This show just keeps getting better and better. It's the best thing since Hawkeye. Can't wait for next week. Hopefully if Agatha is a big hit marvel will start work on midnight sons or something similar to that
This is the best Marvel show since Ms Marvel. It feels like a perfect continuation of what WandaVision was doing, and I can’t wait to see what other aesthetics they play around with in future episodes, as the beach house in this episode felt very “costal grandma core”
He tried to be accepted with no disguise. They wouldn't allow him to learn from them, and kicked him out. Did you watch the movie, or run your mouth aimlessly the entire time?
I'd like to hear an explanation for how boy becomes girl(mentally), but I'm treated like Walsh, if I ask. Maybe, y'all aren't helping the situation? If you freak out when a "racist, white, straight bigot" asks a question......
There is still not 1 top critic review of Matt's latest masterpiece... in his last attempt he single handedly killed the trans industry, so much so gender "treatment" is illegal in the UK now, now he's after the race grifters, what a hero.
...You're talking about the Cass Review? The same one that is currently being ripped apart by every major medical organization in the UK? Yeah, of course you'd celebrate the ban on pro-trans healthcare. Germany taught you well.
first, i want to thank you for your perspective, but i also want to point something out that you talked about in your video. I believe MW couldn’t directly come from a more borat-like character as he would be perceived as white trash by the people he wants to interview to begin with. While he might not fit who exactly would be with the left side, as he isnt a part of that side and has a conservative view on what american liberals are like, there is definitely a little bit of gatekeeping and that is seen within the movie from that side against white men, like how white men are banned from discussing at the race2dinner event. I believe he asked some reasonable questions too, for example, the moana scene, where he asks how he can navigate the womans double standard on kids and their favorite disney princesses. While the ending does try to paint a conservative perspective, i do believe that most of the movie comes from a “do what you what with it” sorta view.
So is there a number of blacks Walsh should have interviewed that would have convinced you he is not racist? What is that nunber, and why are you the arbiter of that? The trailer, Walsh: "Was it the 17 black friends? Maybe it was more like 15 . . ." Does this joke make him racist? Along with only having one assistant and a black singer for the soundtrack? Why do these things proveably make him racist? Of course he is trying to make merch for the Daily Wire. There is no concealment about this. Seems like a moot issue--unless you contrast this with the numerous DEI grifts in the movie that talk a good one but solve nothing--and charge hundreds of thousands for non-existent solutions. I'm on this journey. Help me out?
@@dariocarraresi1823literally no 👏one 👏 is 👏 upset. We are laughing at you 🤣😂😂. This is entertainment. Thank you for participating in making my day better with your rage
@@dariocarraresi1823 She calls the film lazy and pointless, then says it was about "making it out that calling someone racist in this day in age to be stupid." Which isn't what the film is about. - - - And the film never said it that "racism doesn't exist". But this whole culture of over analyzing and emphasizing on race and trying to make up for what people have done in the past ironically ends up being "reverse" racism (which is just racism) as well. Telling white men they should feel guilty...for being white men? That is absurd. - - - The *same community* that claims to be all about being inclusive ironically is the most decisive.
My problem with the concept of the movie is exactly that, its superficial and pandering. What was said about figures like the mainstream DEI profiteers has been said time and time again, free and legitimate criticism is out there. A lot of Walshs criticism from the right towards the conservatives™️ gets drowned out by the hordes. I am far far from a progressive or post modernists but at least i will acknowledge that their world view isnt consistent. Many of these discussions on these topics about gender/sexuality/race go over the heads of those in the mainstream, not exactly a new problem tho. If you remember Spencer versus Sargon, as Sargon now is now appropriating points from Spencer, but a big issue for the cons™️ is the fundamental denial of racial identity -and by extension denying sexual and gender identity- but straining the importance of ones ideas and opinions. Something something Martin Luther King JR Is infallible. But also somehow forgetting that "whiteness" "white people" is inherently progressive and has a basis in modern liberalism. Its also why i believe the term "abolish whiteness" is actually triggering to them because of the lack of understanding the fundamental concept of where that term comes from. I tried explaining this to some of my friends on the far right and many get it. But those who are lukewarm or reactionary dont. These cons dont get it, never have. They only started tagging on "but what about white people" because of the far right pressure put upon them. Anyways good criticism. God Bless.
the way you talked about having black ppl in the movie makes it sound like youre the racist. i think this is the point that the right makes very well, that you all seem to be stuck in the color of ppls skin rather than their character one of the many reasons i really dont agree with the left and why im slowly being pushed more and more towards the right. in my personal opinion i think the movie made me see how most left ppl think, especially Robin Diangelo, her part was shocking why do you think you owe someone something if you have never done anything to them at all? it was just too crazy for me to see someone kneel to something like that just because you think you owe someone something.....super weird imo
DiAngelo didn't pay "Ben" because she thought she owed him. She paid him because Matt kept insisting and insisting and making everyone - Ben included - uncomfortable. And this was after DiAngelo already told Matt that's not how reparations work, and that his idea was really weird. At least DiAngelo had the decency to ask Ben if he was alright with receiving 30$.
@@bigginsg8711 Maybe try asking black activists about it? Which is something that Waslh didn't do. Also, find me a black activist who pushed for reparations, and who explicitly asks for individual white people to pay individual black people. And keep in mind that Walsh isn't black and he's against reparations, so he doesn't count.
But that's what it is. D'Angelo made millions off telling the world that they are racist. What are you talking about? Does he have to tell you that for you to notice? So foolish.
@@Lunyore What do you even mean?! Why does talking to a right-winger so often feels as mind-numbing as a scientist feels talking to a flat Earther???! /rhetorical
@@moustik31 the fact that you can't understand what I'm saying speaks volume of your own incompetence. " race hustler." Someone who is using the topic of race as a selling point. D'Angelo talks about racism at every moment she gets, and in doing so made millions. Matt is objectively correct in calling her a race hustler. How is this a difficult concept to understand. She cannot admit racism has decreased over the years because it's bad for business.
The review is so bad. You already made up your mind to find any little thing to downplay Matt Walsh. He asks simple questions and exposes alot of things that are wrong with modern leftism. There is nothing wrong with being progressive nore conservative or left or right. All your review does is simply insulting Matt Walsh. And that on many personal levels "hes full of Shit". I learned to criticize through constructive points and not through insult. Most racist people nowadays are the ones seeking to fight it by putting up skin color as one of the most important things to value. Obviously as a reviewer you failed because your personal believes make your evaluation subjective which it shouldnt. Of course you can give your opinion but dont call yourself a reviewer if you cant really do it objectively.
You know you CAN sue for abuse of the DMCA. You may want to talk to Devin about that. Unlike most of the stuff he talks about on his channel, this is actually his main area of law. He's a copyright attorney. Because you don't just need a legal team...
Hey everyone. If you get triggered by this movie then it turns out that yup you’re probably racist. It’s amazing all the idiots hating on this film. Take some time off hating on the film and use it to better yourself. Also this review is kind of lame. Is the person reviewing this movie going to just review the movie or spend as much time or more crying about things being unfair.
@dariocarraresi1823, hey now sassy pants. What a lazy and stupid response. I bet you could do way way better. Try again. Now if the next time I’m not pleased with your comment. You aren’t allowed to use the internet for at least a couple months or until you learn to be a better human.
@7thZeppelin, hold up there sassy pants. You’re just the type of dumb dumb I was talking about. Thank you for proving my point. Dang and it didn’t take very long either. Best of luck.
MATT'S MEAT RIDERS™ ARE STILL SO FRIGGIN MAD AT YOU. THEY KEEP COMMENTING AND RESPONDING IN THE REPLIES. 😂😂😂😂 IT'S HILARIOUS. They think Matt will sleep with them if they harass you sufficiently.😂
No, it’s just that bullying idiots is fun. I like the self-tell that you believe that wanting to have sex with someone is the only reason others would comment. Most men don’t care about what others think of them nearly as much as you’d believe
Actually it's just because people like Jessie who are going out of their ways to do anything to put someone like Matt Walsh out like he is a disgusting human being is disgusting by itself and we are allowed to criticise that
@@natannick8308 Which is what none of you are doing. You're just insulting her. A bunch of you are deliberately misgendering her for fun. Y'all are pathetic.
"I'll try and be as non-bias as possible" - immediately starts talking about the movie with extreme bias lol. "Token black people" haha you can't make this shit up.
You didn't watch the video. Jessie said that Matt tried to dress up as a DEI activist to infiltrate DEI groups, but he acted so weird that everyone caught on pretty quickly that he was some kind of prankster or paid actor.
