Have you had any issue with the 3 freezing up with a 0411 when coming to a stop? Been in conteact with hp support and they cant seem to figure anything out.
Yeah with the Gen 3 stuff the scanner doesn’t like to have to many pid’s logging. Meaning if you’re doing idle tuning you need to log just those parameters. Same thing with wide open throttle or trans tuning!
I used Blue cat on my 6l80 and i put superior solution thermostat bypass valve which keeps tranny cool never exceed 70 degree C. Things i make changes : 1. For shift scheduling i use blue cat just put you parameters carefully in BC tool and of-course setup convertor lockup carefully and uniformly to all patterns. 2. under torque converter tab. Increase desired pressure, apply ramp and max pressure by 20-30% i put added 30% to mine. then under same tab put regulator gain value 1.00 and regulator off set 620kpa 3. under shift pressure > upshift > increase pressure by 20-30% on all patterns. if you gen 5 you have to be uniform to all apply pressure to all patterns. Shift pressure > general > pressure pattern mode > select special 4. Under torque converter tab set TCC Desired slip to 0 Thats all it been 1 n half years it shifts like butter but i recommend bypass thermostat before tuning 6l80 Never touch downshift.
I've watched a few of you videos and it mostly just clicking around in the software. ID like to see what difference the change made and the subsequent changes that got you where you needed to be.
I’ll be honest with you, it can be remedied but this truck has only been at arms reach (remotely) and is being worked on regularly since it is in the family but we haven’t focused much on it lately.
Good points. Nice settings for a daily. I too like the stock up shift table but the downshift table sucks. But if the customer is going to tow a lot, 4th gear is about useless and you might want some lockup in 3rd below maybe 40 percent throttle to keep trans temps happy while cruising but to keep it unlocked on heavier acceleration
Absolutely! I feel like the stock shift tables are pretty ok other than needing to bump the wot column the shift rpm. I feel like I always go back to the oem modeling and make adjustments from there. In the process of using some of the stock converter settings as welll just to see how it likes it
Great work! Thanks! Would love to see a base for a Gen 5 as well. I’m about to tune a bone stock 14 Corvette. I’ve got my own base file I have come up with over the years for gen 5 trucks but would love to see what changes you make as well.
Great stuff man not many people show the detailed parts of tuning, I need to get with you, I'm from the coast and do lots of swaps may need some tuning if you do remote tuning
The tuner I dropped my car off at is trying to figure out why MAF my is tapped over as we speak. Is this something that he should have known? Should I find a new tuner?
Having enough base running airflow in conjunction with spark timing to help soft land the stop. The throttle follower can sometimes play a roll as well. Typically commanding an idle that it maybe a little higher than you might like will work and adjusting the spark and air from there. The camshaft will decide all of that though. 750rpm is kinda my minimum for all cams. What are you working with?
In the editor… you mean? The BlueCat is (aside from 1st hand experience and knowledge) is probably THE best GM transmission tuning software available.. for free.. and as far as peak rpm in the BC program, it is personal preference, but as with all aspects of trans tuning, needs to match your power trains expectations. A gen3 trans may just flare, hit the limiter or not downshift as desired, but gen4/5 will literally leave you in the garage or worse.. the side of the road if not done properly. This program has never let that happen.
Misfire counters would need to potentially be adjusted! If the vehicle is running poorly it’s usually plugs and wires. A datalog would be helpful though!
So if someone else tuned after high performance cam and now idles good but when rpms reach 15 to 2000 number 7 and 4 misfire killing out cylinders are dead, input on this one please Sir!
Compression test and leak down shows great condition, also already removed and replaced with new lifters and trays it did come in with broken push rod on #1 exhaust!
Also have moved ,wires ,coils and spark plugs same thing no change,I was told the Tuner tunes for wide open Throttle and not setting perimeters per each cylinder?
Music in the background makes this unbearable, that sucks big grean weanys because i feel like what you got to say has value and i would like to learn but its absolutely impossible
It will if the throttle position to switch to the high octane table is set low enough! I set mine to .6 to try and get it to always referenced the high octane table
Yo homie Defintely giving that a shot now! I feel like even now I do it differently than I did before too. On my own truck illl drive around with all transients and PE off and just part throttle in maf only for a solid week to and from work and then do the ve. Maf only for the customer cars in the beginning Defintely gets it running the quickest and thankfully I have enough VE tables that run well enough on their own that those can be a good starting point for the blended mode!
Using a wideband O2 I pay the same attention to the whole rpm spectrum that exists and first get the fuel right. I tune it by disabling O2s and all other fuel modifiers like emissions test programs and make sure engine is warm. Tune MAF within 1%, then tune VE to match at around 2 to 3% richer than MAF. Reason is the MAF is current and steady data for ECU, the VE is the transient fueling go to. When you punch the throttle, it will be a tiny bit rich immediately and give the best response in my opinion. Love the video. Cheers!
It doesn’t matter what kind of tune you have. Your max hp is your max hp. The maf sensor and the map both have to calculate data. The maf is calculating voltage to the sensor the size of the intake tube the temperature of the air the coolant temperature and making a calculation
You definitely can with an afr/eq graph ! Use the controls special functions in the scanner to force closed loop into being off. Thst will make sure the closed loop won’t enable.
So if you're tuning with a wideband can you get the ve dialed in out to 6000rpm? I've been chasing my tail thinking I was tuning my ve but my front o2's were enabled 😂
