My favorite memory would be walking from the top of Hovey St with my Mama to my Grammy house… as a kid 3 or 4 being mesmerized with all the lights sounds and smells… especially when all the vendors were along Commercial St and not in the parking lot
I know that I appreciate having the option/ privilege to live, in any fundamental way to my day-to-day, with a good deal of separation from the "wilds of nature". When I choose to "go out into nature", I do so with a respect that it is not my "habitat",' to be a courteous guest and put in adequate preparation, so as to not create a problem that could easily be avoided (I won't hike in a blizzard or try to summit a mountain at 3p, with nothing but a cellphone, ask locals before going off trail, etc). This was fun, thanks for musing out loud!
I must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer. Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration. I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over me and through me. And when it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path. Where the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain. Frank Herbert, Dune (Dune, #1)
It van be so difficult to stare into the fear of the unknown especially if you have a certain "box" you've let creep around you over the years. I always thought of myself as an adventurous person...and then woke up "one day" and noticed I was not that person I thought I was...and hadn't been since my twenties and even then my adventurous side was "guarded". Waking up to your true self can be scary. When I realize I only get one "E" ticket ride in this big blue amusement park I feel as if I have to try to make the best of it and look to facing those fears that crept in. Thanks for being you...it's so refreshing and makes the world a better place.
They played by the rules, the stocks are rebuilding, but their quotas are too small, their market saturated with imports, and their fishing grounds threatened by shortsighted offshore wind. The deck is stacked, the deck has been stacked - it's not a partisan issue it's an overall policy issue that transcends administrations.
