Thanks for taking us along on your wonderful scenic hike in Georgia. Very enjoyable. Also brings back memories of taking the same route with my son in 2019. I also felt I was pushing myself to the limit physically, but the mountain views and ancient remote villages were unforgettable
Calcutta owes its existence to the British east india company. The city was itself founded by a British offficial named Job Charnock. Without the British connection Calcutta is just another city without any historical significance. The Bengal renaissance and the extended Indian renaissance which had also transformed hindu religion quite a bit, also owes its history to the City as the Capital of British India and through it the influence of european renaissance Without the Britiish presence Bengali would have been just another language among the thousand others. They introduced the vernacular system and made that official. Before that the official language of the region was Persian and before that Sanskrit or Prakrit none of which are in use these days. Without the British Bengal was just a side prick to the Mighty Mughal empire and before that just a region of another great empire centered around Patna So that should explain why the link to the British is very important for the city and for the Bengalis. ** I know many bengalis of these days do not think very highly of the British anymore and I can understand that happening with any subject breed where an empire has fallen, besides there has been regular, opportunistic, anti colonial feed through narratives, propagandas and schooling of young minds after the British had left which has shaped the psyche of many post independence generations. But older people would still recollect the loss of british or rather colonial values which has almost but disappeared from the city culture and I believe from many other places of the world. It may sound like nostalgia but well thats a fact too.
XD Ancient Bengal was the site of several major Janapadas (kingdoms), while the earliest cities date back to the Vedic period. A thalassocracy and an entrepôt of the historic Silk Road,[1] ancient Bengal had strong trade links with Persia, Arabia and the Mediterranean that focused on its lucrative cotton muslin textiles.[2] The region was a part of several ancient pan-Indian empires, including the Mauryans and Guptas. It was also a bastion of regional kingdoms. The citadel of Gauda served as capital of the Gauda Kingdom, the Buddhist Pala Empire (eighth to 11th century), the Hindu Sena Empire (11th-12th century) and the Hindu Deva Empire (12th-13th century). This era saw the development of Bengali language, script, literature, music, art and architecture.
Hello! Local from Budapest here. "Freedom" square is actually one that is kind of an inside joke for us hungarians. Most of the soviet memorobilia has been shipped to the outskirts of the city (like Stalin's boots which were the leftovers after the statue was smashed during the 1956 freedomfight) and are in a place called "memento park". The airquotes you've used are exactly how every hungarian feels when we look at that depravity, we are also "free" to keep it around =D . Setting up the US mission there and the statues were actually a small form of rebellion itself and made quite a stir. About the history of Budapest: it was actually 3 towns: Buda, Óbuda and Pest. Since then a lot of other smaller towns were absorbed as the capital grows. Lovely to have had you in Budapest! We need more people like you visiting! If you want to see a compeltely different country: visit the countryside as well :)
Seriously, one day in Budapest, and you managed to explain Hungary's historic "cross roads" status aversion and its strife for sovereignty! Bravo, kudos, welcome for ever!
There's a sign, that clearly says that absolutely no photography or videography is allowed in the Tutankhamun exhibit. The Cavern church is supposedly where Mary, Joseph, and baby Jesus hid after their flight into Egypt.
read good sir that state u are in was ruled by communist govt for 40 years who clearly wanted socialist reforms which center govt cant allow so the industries died because unions were too powerful for them to operate then enters the current cheif minister a lady dint married a proud citizen single handedly dethroned their regime. and gradually city and the state began developing in last 20 years with rest of india.
We are happy and proud of the past. But it is proved that we are unable to do better than the foreign ruler (i .e.the British). Thanks for the video. Sorry. I failed to see the whole.

If I well remember, the Christian part of Cairo is the poorest and the most deglected because the state don't care about the local Christians and so they live apart and do bad jobs like garbage collection. They are kept in poverty.
We moved from it because of strong leadership, it wasn't easy but it's possible with determined leadership, the cobblestone roads aren't a legacy of colonialism, when i was young, i saw many being built, they are not used as main roads, they are in some streets.
