As lifelong Jazz guitarist and author, I have spent decades marveling at this man's genius! Everything he plays is a wealth of knowledge and joy! Wha an artist! Thank you Howard!
That picking sounds shity. The key is to play legato, as here, and this IZZ so FAR superior. That last riff BLOWS both Sheryl AND Coltrane clean away....ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-cmELqhuwfCU.html
Great lesson! I'm a lefty who plays guitar and other things (baseball, hockey, golf) right-handed. You mentioned that the picking hand has experience in fine detail such as writing small letters. I cannot write with my right hand but I've been picking guitar with it for about 15 years. I'm just curious if you'd know if that makes any difference in how I should approach this technique. The song I'm trying to learn is Bleed by Meshuggah (extreme metal). The whole song is mainly based on riffs of hertas at a VERY fast pace.
The symmetry each of these ideas so pleasing. It allows the ear to latch on to while moving through the dissonance. Great explanation and use of this material. Thanks for stocking this book in the store in 1977 and selling it to me. Very soulful.
Great lesson on a great tune, that is credited to Miles but was actually written by the great guitarist, Chuck Wayne! ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-KQuZU2K_H9c.htmlsi=ebJfKp2O6mgb1ziW
How on earth did Jacobs become a professor? He's pathetically bad. In every conceivable way. No phrasing, no technique to speak of and no taste. Pathetically bad for a so-called "pro". Disgusting. And shame on a Mike Gellar for promoting a Jacobs...Mike hasn't the foggiest clue on just how poor Sid Jacobs actually is. It's just the classic blind leading the blind and proclaiming utter sub-mediocrity as "good". Idiocy run amok.
Despite this man’s talent, looking at that guitar makes me feel distinctly queasy. Why? What would compel you to make a Guitar look so completely hideous?
Melodic Minor #5 is also the 5th mode of the Hungarian Major scale. What about Melodic Minor b5? Is also a subset of The Diminished octatonic scale :) is the 5th mode of the Romanian Major Scale
Hi Mike, Great lesson. Can you tell me the exact model and year on your Tele. Also, what amp and if your using any effect? Your tele sounds really nice. Warm and Punchy. Thanks.
Thanks a lot! The tele is a Mexican 2010 Thinline 72 reissue and for lesson videos I plug direct into Abelton and am using a Bias amp plugin called "British 900 Clean" with a little bit of concert hall reverb on it. Thank you for checking out the lesson!
