When I want to feel better about the world and my life I spin this album. Every tune has it's impact and I always, without fail, feel better. Just puts me in a good place and god knows right now I need it. Today the 23 of Oct. 2024. AT 63 yrs old, I have been listening to Spyro Gyra for almost 50 years and they still touch my soul and ease my pain.
Funny story, Jay shared during a live show in South Carolina that this song was named after a ribbed condom in the bathroom of a bar the boys were at back in the day. They had the tune completed and ready to record but NO NAME for the number. UNTIL Tom came out of the head and told the boys there was a condom in the machine in the men's room named Cockatoo.
This music has influenced a whole world. Cant visit the Caribbean without hearing this on steel pedal drums. Magnificent that it has inspired a true music genre.
