I am surprised that this photo has not been challenged by the photography community, for instance who shoots at 1/8000, f1.6 unknown ISO doing that type photography. The 1/8000 the ISO would be between 500 - 800, tell me why a profession photographer who would have those stupid settings; something fishy going on😬😬☹

Trump just posted the Doug Mills photo as evidence, claiming the streak is a blood stained bullet right after piercing his ear. His right hand was on the podium when he 1st reacted. In the photo it is halfway to his ear. That took a minmum of .4 seconds. Wouldn't the bullet have travelled @ 1000 feet past him in that timeframe?

When I do protest or demonstration photography, I usually use a Lumix GH6 with a Panasonic-Leica 12-60 lens, although I sometimes use a Pan-Leica 25 or 42.5. When I need to be discreet, I may use a point-and-shoot camera like a Panasonic LX10 or a Fuji X-30.

Very interesting but why was he shooting static subjects at 1/8000 sec. At F1.6 there is also an incredibly narrw DOF. Just saying.
@MilmidStudios
@MilmidStudios День назад
@@RVNmedic You ask a valid question! In my recent video I replicate his settings while trying to recreate a similar photograph. His settings are plausible in my opinion. With it being a bright day coupled with him shooting wide open at f1.6, he would be required to jack up his shutter speed to balance his exposure. His colleague Evan Vucci was shooting a 24-70 and a 70-200. Both were shot at f2.8 and his shutter settings were at 1/4000. So I guess the better question would be why he was shooting wide open! The photo was faked in Photoshop. From the minor reduction in elevation from the video images, he STILL should have captured people behind Trump in the stands. And in THAT direction at that time, the sky was partly obscured with grey overcast clouds in the distance. The faked blue sky background serves to allow the "bullet" to be seen. And the last time I went to a political event to capture an image of someone speaking at the podium, I didn't need, or even consider, to shoot at 1/8000th of a second.
@MilmidStudios
@MilmidStudios День назад
Appreciate your skepticism, Mark. I for one do not believe the photo was photoshopped for a few reasons. Doug Mills works for the New York Times, which is a well-known left leaning publication that consistently endorses Democrat candidates. For the publication to photoshop the image to make Trump look like a victim, wouldn’t make much political sense. Secondly, the image was taken at 24mm. The one shown in this video was HEAVILY cropped. So the section of the sky in the cropped image may not include the overcast clouds you mentioned. Finally, his exposure settings… I just released a video where I expose similarly to Doug and it is plausible that those were his settings. If it was a sunny day with harsh light and he was shooting wide open at f1.6, he would need to have a high shutter speed to balance his exposure. Obviously this is just my opinion. I appreciate your comment regardless 🎯📸💯
@markmalasics3413
@markmalasics3413 19 часов назад
@@MilmidStudios For me there are just too many coincidences. He just happened to be shooting what he knew would be a stationary subject at 1/8000 at F1.6 on a harsh back lit day. And nobody that I am aware of has mentioned the ISO and it's not listed in the settings shown. He just happens to hit the shutter for a whatever number burst of images before he even knew a bullet was flying. He just happened to capture the bullet even before Trump knew it whizzed by him. I just find it very fishy in these manners. I would love to see the raw file.

I have one question, why is he at 1/8000 while at a speaking even? Unless he was expecting a bullet to fly across the frame?
@MilmidStudios
@MilmidStudios 6 дней назад
Hey! I think your question is valid. In my opinion the reason he shot at 1/8000 is because he was also shooting wide open at f/1.6 on a bright sunny day. In order to keep exposure balanced I think his only option would be to jack up the shutter speed, or use a VND filter. I’m sure he was also shooting at native ISO. Just my two cents 💯📸🙏🏽

@@MilmidStudios I totally get it and understand the numbers, but at an outdoor speaking "rally" event? f/1.6 at 1/8000 just doesn't make sense unless I am expecting something VERY fast to fly by lol. I just got done covering 12 high school graduations this year, these are "speaking events", f/1.4 lens at 1/1000 tops, and certainly NOT 30 FPS!...I wasn't expecting a bullet lol. Besides some of the smart-ass comments, Doug got incredible photos. It reminds me of the photo when Jack Ruby shot Lee Harvey Oswald with a Nikon S, a rangefinder film camera. You know, one shot at a time. He shot the photo 1/65th of a second after another photographer took a picture showing only Ruby holding the and Oswald just standing. That difference made all the difference in the world. The one who shot with the old Nikon got the photo and because famous for it. The other guy just vanished as it was not picked up for publications. Timing is part of it, being there and firing away has to help. I shot a lot of photos while working on USAF base newspapers. I got a few good shots of sports, etc., but nothing like this shot. This is why I love photojournalism and love still photography over videography, not that one is better than the other, but I just love stills. It's a slice in time permanently recorded on film or a hard drive somewhere.

The exposure triangle lets you pick 2 of the 3 parts of the formula and let the third be whatever it takes to get the right amount of light. So if you want a wide open aperture and a low iso you can adjust the shutter speed to get the EV you want, and on bright days you can easily get to 1/8000 with fast lenses and you'll get great shots with no motion blur for most things. I do this all the time at the zoo, it just depends on how much light there is.
