I know! The entire game was me trying to get rid of those guys! If I would have been able to kill one or two early I think this game would have been less of a trouncing. I think Rowan did a better job giving me bad characters, so I still would have lost. - Adam
Just getting back into Heroscape after more than 10 years. Glad to have found your guys' channel. Thanks for the time you put into the videos. Quick question, where did you get the dice from? Do those come in a certain set?
So glad to hear you're coming back into a great game! Thank you so much for watching and enjoying the videos. As for the dice. Heroscape started releasing flag bearers as Toys R Us exclusives. They came with a figure (and card), dice, and a bag.
With the cd sleeves that we are using we do need to trim them a bit. Also when trimmed they only fit in one direction for the sleeve into the cd binder, so orientation does matter. - Adam
I probably wouldn't have bought it sealed if I wasn't filming a video. However there aren't a lot of unboxings of original HeroScape, and I thought it would be nice to share. - Adam
This is such a fun idea! I’m the main map builder and all my friends just come over and the maps are built already. And my fiancée loves puzzles and never really gave her a chance to build. Which I should. But, I know my brain will cringe when she begins to start making mistakes and I’d want to correct her then she will get frustrated but!!! Any whooooo! Please do more. And the winner gets to choose which army to play between two different armies and then then next video will you guys be playing the map.
The pepper wasn't fun at all! I would love to see your fiancée build a HeroScape map. Rowan and I both make maps, and I tend to make them symmetrical, for fairness. I however think there should be more 'unbalanced' maps. Also reading HeroScape build instructions is hard lol. We hope to do more of these, a lot of maps require terrain features that we don't have, so next purchase for us is getting the required terrain.
Marcu feels like the MVP here for sure - 20 points well spent to stall that side of the board, giving Q10 all the time he needed to blast the other flank. Would be interesting to see the Samurai team up with a long-range threat, forcing the enemy to approach and face the counterstrike counterpunch
All it would have taken was one bad dice roll with Marcu and this game could have gone a completely different way. Rowan actually really liked this "counterstrike counterpunch" idea, might be a fun army to try out. Wouldn't mind hearing what else you would put in that army. - Adam
@@hexhalla It kinda depends on what models you have available, though an easy "core" would be Kravs and Kaemon Awa. Fill the rest with whatever fits neatly into the point total, with minimal points left over. I'd be looking at Nakita Agents, Phantom Knights, RotV Raelin (counterstrike and stealth dodge love a defense buff), Tagawa Samurai, Kozuke Samurai (though they're high-risk-high-reward), Tagawa Samurai Archers, Syvarris, Sharwin Wildborn (ONLY when paired with Raelin), and Q10. Marro Warriors, Eldgrim, Guilty McCreech, or Isamu are possible filler options, but you wouldn't want more than one of em. Izumi Samurai are also fine, but they tend to underwhelm in my experience. They exist to wall off choke points and tie things into engagement - they are NOT for killing. Of these, I personally recommend Phantom Knights the most, as they're also a reliable fallback option if the army's gimmick fails. But I understand Rowan's not a fan of commons lol
The Major "Cutie" (love it!) move was fine. He would have fit just fine at the end of the ruin if he had to stop movement (ignoring the issue of the terrain being unlevel so he can't stop movement there). I also love the commitment to Marcu in these videos. Provides some drama with every activation!
That's good to know! I feel like I am unprepared for the tournament side of HeroScape, and with Gencon, and Scapecon coming up I don't want to look like a fool. Also I feel like Marcu and Isamu are always picks for our armies. I do love talking about him loving or hating us. - Adam
@@hexhalla don't worry about the tournaments. The scape competitive community is unmatched in how awesome/chill they are. Yes, you will probably face a high level of play certain rounds and you can't expect a taksie backsie for a mistake you made (although you may be offered one) but you won't be playing jerks or cheaters.
I think that is what I am trying to hint at. We are looking for signs that there might be new abilities coming, and I feel like that wording is one of them. - Adam
I thought that the video was well done, and their learn to play was excellent as well. I wish they had a 45 degree shot of the board and figures, as with the top down you lose a lot of the height. - Adam
That was a fun watch. Love seeing drafted: Moriko, X-17 and, though he wasn’t needed, Guilty. “Defend-dead!” Is the best. Thanks for entertaining Heroscape battle.
Ha ha! It has happened! I thought for sure going second was going to be enough overcome less practiced hands building the map, but I guess not! Now to brainstorm the "penalty" for losing next round. Hmm...
Yeah I (Adam) am not actually very good with building maps. Let alone building them fast. We have been talking about possibly doing this, just with super sour candy. We will see if people want to see more or not.
Damn, this was like watching a training arc come to a *very* satisfying conclusion. It's been a long time since I was this invested in a battle report! Excellent work as always
So happy to hear that you enjoyed this video! Always looking to improve these videos, so if you see anything you really liked or didn't like, feel free to shout it out. - Adam
I personally thought it would be a worse map, because of all the hate. I found the height of the table actually allowed for the fall damage and height engagement to come into play. - Adam
Found my heroscape game after like 12 years and it was all good. The water tiles were discolored though. When I tried putting them together they started shattering 😭
We are so sorry to hear that. We have had a modicum of success gluing pieces back together. Another great idea is to use those tiles as custom terrain.
"Here's to more Heroscape." Well said. We all can have nitpicks, but what's previewed is solid so its great that it is arriving. Common squads are a great way to boost sales because they encourage purchasing multiples so it feels like it would be insanity to ignore them. In fact, if wouldn't be unreasonable for them to say something like "these are best fielded with at least 3 copies" and packaging them in package that includes 3 squads at a time. If you want that 4th one you'd end up having to buy 2 packs and trade away the spares or something. Not the most fan-friendly situation but production run sizes could require something like that to remain profitable.
Yeah I think those are some really good thoughts. I think with most things the introduction of common squads will require a lot of thought and nuance to make sure mostly everyone is happy. - Adam
Trust me, I have my reasons. Too many to type out here. But once you get me going on about common squads, it's hard to get me to stop. Just ask Adam 😂 - Rowan
