William G sounds really pissed off at the end of round one when he says 'It could be a long afternoon....at the end of that round we've lost nobody' Ha ha ha ..pure disgust in his voice.
This is not correct. At 5.37 the equation should be T2/a3=4pi2/GM. This is Kepler's third law according to Wiki en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kepler%27s_laws_of_planetary_motion#:~:text=The%20three%20laws%20state%20that,major%20axis%20of%20its%20orbit. This inverts the final ratio to Ms/Mj which can be confirmed by calculation
Some of the questions are too vague. What is a butt and ben, a torchere, persiflage... there's a variety of acceptable answers to each of these and the host invariably wastes time giving further explanation, even after the contestant has given an acceptable answer.
I have to admit I don't really understand any of this (I'm sorry!). Dropped Maths after second year back in the day but had to carry on with Arithmetic & and take up Statistics (both subjects I enjoyed). Pretty sure I wouldn't be able to drop Maths after second year nowadays.
Terrible,s d used to be their gold standard service,my go to,you used to get a proper follow up if you had a problem. These are the results of the vision of the new management structure,I fear for anything being delivered by RM,they have a good workforce and they have totally destroyed them
Priceless movie, on par with Moonstruck. I love how they directed Kitty Carlisle's staging of Leonora, she looks more like a Medea. If that really was Kitty Carlisle's voice (she was Julliard trained and actually sang in a performance of Carmen), I'm impressed, but considering making the choice between a dicey operatic career and marrying Moss Hart, I think we can safely say the latter decision was the better one LOL.
The Met Opera HD streaming services features an opera (I forget which) wherein there really was a minor mishap with a wrong backdrop being used and then very quickly corrected, nothing like this hilarious insanity. Their wonderful production of L'elisir d'amore (Polenzani/Yende) has a minor mishap when a bottle of Bordeaux wine rolls towards the souffleur's enclosure and M. Polenzani expertly knows how to retrieve it without skipping a beat or a note and playing up the comic aspect of the opera, it was actually very charming.
Hillary and Tenzing weren't chosen as the first summit attempt climbers. That was Bourdillon and Evans who reached the South Summit before having to turn back.
Interesting but left out a major factor and major player. Eric Shipton's role should have been described in this film. Maybe producers were embarrassed about the whole Shipton-Hunt affair. Most specifically, the 1951 Reconnaissance Expedition led by Shipton. It is a little shameful that Shipton was passed over for leadership role. At least it is a topic worth discussing in a historical film such as this.
Racist British, calling the Sherpas coolies and personal servants. The Swiss had a different attitude towards the Indians/Nepali. The British were despicable and imperialists.
Just started watching these. Being American, the only one I knew here was Fort Sumter, lol. The question asker was particularly crochety and impatient this day, but I still like his style.
