This is quite a strange video. You state a few times that the amount of skiing is limited (it is not). Lots of the skiing on the Cervinia side is left untouched, almost as if you didn't know it was there until the end of your week. You also seem to choose some very strange routes, with quite odd and hard to follow instructions/tips. Worst of this is you complain multiple times about the flat blue run once entering Switzerland, but seem to completely ignore the red alternatives. You also complain multiple times about the "boring" red to Furi - it is dull and has long flats. But completely ignore the black alternative (it is not at all difficult). All round a very strange perspective.
As a seasoned visitor to the region I bow to your experience. However the title of my video is “ first impressions “ If I return I’ll maybe have a different impression.
Absolutely loved this video. You mentioned some places being in the shade. Do you remember when you filmed this video? Maybe if I go at a different time of the year the sunshade will fall differently. Much love
@@blairmacdonald3657 that would be very difficult as it depends on the time of year, your budget and who you are going with. if I knew there was going to be snow, Saalbach Hinterglem would be my number one every time for the extensive and varied skiing with probably the best apres-ski and atmosphere, you’ll find anywhere.
Very good video, but maybe you should learn how to pronounce the villages you talk about. It’s not ”Hock-Gurgl”, it’s Hochgurgl. It’s not ”Solden”, it’s Sölden. Otherwise, great 😊
If you’d like really good apres ski , it has to be Obergurgle The Nederhutte is on the home run and you can ski home in the dark to most of the hotels. It’s an absolute banging Apres bar Probably a quarter of a mile up the mountain with an easy run home had an excellent House band.
@@garynealon6060 I have stayed at the Hausgurgle. Lovely people, great food and you can ski virtually to the doorstep with a short walk across the car park I don’t recall any noise. Our rooms are in the Annex. The downside is that you have to walk outside of the hotel to get into the restaurant and bar, although this was no drama as far as we were concerned. Up side-the rooms were massive It’s in a fairly quiet spot We also stayed at the Bellevue a previous year which was also very good and a slightly better location
@@garynealon6060 just noticed i replied with my work log in - oops. You probably saw Haus Gurgle at the end of the video so can see how close it is to the slopes.
My advice for anyone going to Cervinia, and starting your holiday , go up to plan Maison lift, then go up a couple of extra lifts and enjoy some amazing wide cruising blues back to Plan Maison , get your legs going and then decide what to do, I found myself spending loads of time around that section , really nice , also be aware that they shut the connecting cable car connecting Zermatt a lot !!! I loved Cervinia , some really good skiing
This review is amazing. You have a real knack for giving the right information for families to choose where to go. Now if you don't mind over the coming weeks going to about another 10 or so resorts and reviewing them for me to decide my next holiday. Tia
Haha thanks. I presume you have seen my other videos on other resorts My favourite is Saalbach / Hinterglem but limited accommodation and more for families with older kids. Serious Apres Ski I’ve not done a video yet.
I’m here right now and it’s a GREAT area. One tip - the bottom part of red 12 in the Giggijoch area is a LOT nicer than the blues after things start to get cut up through the day. A REALLY good confidence builder for lesser experienced skiers. The beginner in our group was on it on his first day.
Really helpful overview of the area, thanks. I did honestly find the music quite distracting - your explanation was enough to hold my attention without the music!
Brilliant content. RU-vid originally was for everyone to contribute to but it to some extent it is been taken over by highly polished production companies who do not really get into the detail which have. Many thanks for sharing.
I went to Cervinia in 1981 for a day because Prato Nevosa had melted😮 (it was in March) It was a very memorable day because our skiing holiday hadn’t been ruined after all. Thanks to the glacier, we had a great day. Great skiing! No mention of the high altitude though. I was seeing stars in my eyes at the very top. Still great fun 😊
by far the most useful video about getting from Cervinia to Zermatt, im heading there end of January start of febuary and have been looking for advice/information on how to get there and back from Cervinia to Zermatt and this video has answered so many of my questions so thank you.
Love this video. Super helpful for planning the trip and getting the most out of the mountain. Do you have any recommendations for traveling late Dec/early January? Anything is useful. Thanks!
Saalbach / Hinterglem is right up there with a massive ski area, great lift system, lovely mountain restaurants and amazing apres ski. The only down side is the resort height if it’s a poor season for snow. Saint Anton links to many other resorts so also great I also love the Porte du Soleil and Three Valleys. Downs sides are French prices and attitudes. Austria wins for fun and a great atmosphere on the slopes Sorry. Not skied the states or Canada but mets loads of people who come to Europe instead of skiing on their doorstep.
Very poor I'm afraid. Very disjointed, no real info and certainly no real understanding of this huge ski area. You didn't even begin to scratch the surface of Cervinia/Valtournenche (VAL_TOUR NENCHE, not Valtourneche). How you can claim this is expensive is rather laughable. You seemed to spend the vast majority of your time in Switzerland, which is damned expensive and everyone knows that. PS.. you can ski here for 22km non-stop, yes non-stop... all the way down to the cable car at Valtournenche!
So, how long does it take to get from the Bottom of Cervinia to the town of Zermatt? Do you have time to walk around Zermatt little bit and make it back to Cervinia? Tnx 😀
Going back next winter for my 4th trip. One thing I like about Grandvaleria is that you can always skip the ski back by taking the public bus instead - a single from Canillo to Pas is around 6 euros. Handy if less experienced members are tired out and don't fancy the 2hr ski back to Pas.
The whole area is just too confusing. I couldn't find an online piste map which is a bit ridiculous considering the Cervinia-Zermatt are is one of the most popular for skiing in the world.
Looks fun, but such was the bad experience I had the first time I ever tried skiing, it put me off it for life, so my skiing is now restricted to watching skiing videos on You Tube. Skiing, you're welcome to it.
A way to get off the chair (14:17). Take both poles with 1 hand when you touch down on the landing slop, half standing but don't try to ski off the chair yet. Put a hand on the edge of the chair where you were sitting (since you're not sitting on it) to get ready to push yourself away and let the chair keep pushing you forward until you have enough speed, then give a little push with you hand on the chair. That should get you off every time without getting hit by the chair. This works well especially with fast lifts. But even if you fall, you would be falling on the place beyond the reach of the chair (as the worse place to fall is on the path of the chair).
