Hi BigBear. Thanks for watching and commenting! In short, my life has changed in ways that doesn't allow me the time commitment to produce the quality that we've come to expect from ourselves. On average, it was about an hour of editing for every minute of content that you see, not counting the countless hours of cataloging and organizing the many hours of film content we would grab during a shoot, difficult already with a very full time job (and I wasnt ready to quit). I've loved all the experiences and friends I've made in this process but there are just more important things in life now. I really appreciate the support you and others have shown us over the years! Thank you!

Great review and you’re spot on. I’m guessing 90% of owners aren’t tracking this and when I buy one used when I retire in 5 years i won’t be either. I’ve been on the fence between an RC F 2015-2017 and a 2019 or newer RC 350 RWD F sport. I will test drive both as I get closer to retirement, but I’m sure the RC F Will be my pick. I can’t pass up that V 8 Rumble. I heard to pass up on the TVD differential because if it breaks it’s cost $12k to replace (less if you get it replaced at a private shop) and It’s more designed for slalom and track use. On Back roads I don’t think I’ll need it. The flipside is rarely do Lexus/Toyota parts breakdown so My initial search will be to find one without the TVD. I currently own a 2002 ES300 with 169k miles. Bought it last April w 160k miles from the original owner. It’s been maintained very well and I’m doing the same. This is my DD and it will last me well into 300k miles

The people have spoken. The MS3 is such a phenomenal car in terms of raw old school power and easy modifications to unlock power safely. Yes the interior could be better, but take some time to actually look at the sophisticated detailing done on the exterior, and combine it with its hooligan nature. The mazda Speed in my book holds the glory of fast and fun hot hatchbacks. The other two are great cars, although the ST and Golf is still a much more mass produced car and has better technology in it, who wants to sit in a science lesson if you could be playing outside with the cool kids

Most people would agree that if they can get a luxury car for a cheap price, then they would buy it. I like VW because you feel like the company isn't cheaping you out. All ford's (besides the very top trim levels) just have that cheap feeling, and loosen up a lot more then a VW or even a GM car over time. They make their cars look good, but with mostly cheap plastic parts. That's the reason I'd never buy a Ford.
@143CAR
@143CAR 5 лет назад
Yeah understood. I guess it's up to personal preference and what you value in a car.
@mkimask
@mkimask 5 лет назад
To be honest I absolutely don't understand why everyone praises VW so much for it's quality - I've driven different VWs and I see nothing special about their quality - there is absolutely nothing to write home about. It's not better or worse - it's about the same as it's competitors (just a bit more boring).
@143CAR
@143CAR 5 лет назад
@@mkimask I don't think the "quality" statement is necessarily true, more so the perception of quality. I did find the interior to be quite a bit nicer than the other two (the MS3 and ST) in that regard.
@mkimask
@mkimask 5 лет назад
@@143CAR not arguing at all, but I see quite a lot of comments how VWs interiors are well above the competition, however in my personal experience I did not find anything special about them, at least nothing that would be important to me =)
@143CAR
@143CAR 5 лет назад
@@mkimask all good man! Just some discussion here =). I think for me, the GTI has a few more metal bits vs. the hard/cheaper looking plastics in the other two cars. I wouldn't say they are "well above the competition", but it is a noticeable difference. Agreed that for hot hatches this isn't hugely important to me, and i'd rather have a car that is more dynamic. That being said, i did quite enjoy the Mk7 noticeably more than i did the Mk6 i reviewed here.

Lol, too bad the “growly note” is fake sound into the speakers. I hate how ford puts things in their cars to make people believe they are good, but they actually aren’t. Ford customers have no idea what they are buying, they just buy it because they’re persuaded into the brand. The golf is way more genuine. The golf actually has a good engine sound, without having to pump fake sound through the speakers. The interior of a ford looks like a 6 year old designed it to. Typical ford quality at its finest.
@143CAR
@143CAR 5 лет назад
Hi Cory. Thanks for watching and commenting. If i'm not mistaken, i believe the sound is actually captured and just amplified, but its actually the real sound. The Ecoboost 2.3L motor cars however (Focus RS and Ecoboost Mustang) are fully synthetic. Have to agree the VW fit and finish is much better, but i found the ST drive to be much more engaging then the GTI.
@VigorousZinc
@VigorousZinc 5 лет назад
@@143CAR I don't think it's the real sound. My brothers Cadillac on the other hand, I believe he told me they actually have speakers and record the actual engine sound. I doubt it's real sound, it's a Ford we're talking about.
@143CAR
@143CAR 5 лет назад
@@VigorousZinc yeah a lot of cars have speakers that pump sound out now, but on the ST it is a "sound symposer", which is actually a valve that opens up during more aggressive driving to pipe the sound from the engine bay in. So its real, just channeled in. That being said, on the RS and Ecoboost mustang it is synthetic :(. @KLRGT500KR

Correction: It DOES NOT have a single-clutch automated, but a conventional torque converted automatic that shifts very fast. However, the clutch engagement feel comes in manual mode/sport+ where the torque converter is locked so that the power is directly transferred to the wheels without any loss for that manual feel. Many of the newer cars are ditching DCTs for ZF autos (Alfa, M5, RS5, E63 etc.) due to better torque handling. As far as power goes, what I did not see is you driving it hard keeping between 5500 rpm and 7400 rpm. it is a high-revving engines so the power lives at high rpms. You have to rev the cr*p out of it close to 7500 rpm to make it feel like a monster. Think of it as a Honda S2000 engine with double the horsepower and over double the displacement. I have taken mine to the track and it actually comes alive on the race track. The TVD really makes the rear lively and makes the car tail-happy on the steering.
@143CAR
@143CAR 5 лет назад
Ah sorry my mistake. Yes there is a trend on some cars to go back to torque converters for sure, but I still found it pretty clunky when the transmission was cold. And no, I didn't get to drive the car on track but I did rev the car out (we specifically didn't show me revving it that high for obvious reasons on the road). I understand your comparison with the s2000, but have to politely disagree, as the s2000 is a car that has a much lighter chassis and wheelbase so the way you approach the car in corners would be completely different. As an example, I would generally feel much less confident carrying speed into corners as the steering feel was quite lacking - something I feel is an indication of its GT like tuning. Thanks for watching!
@KLRGT500KR
@KLRGT500KR 5 лет назад
@@143CAR When I compared it to S2000, I meant how you rev out the engine and the powerband characteristics as to how the power lives all high up. You have to keep the engine near redline and it is making the most power near rev cut-off. Power keeps building and building until abruptly the rev limiter cuts in except it has a lot more power/torque than an S2000. Regarding handling, in a slow, tight corner a smaller and shorter wheelbase with a lot less power can be pushed harder as it does not have to worry about width of the road. Regarding steering feel, some of it is because of soft RCF-Spec MPSS tires. MPS4S have far more stiffer sidewalls (XL rated). Simple answer I put more air in the rear than front (38R/36F) and it always keeps the front tires loaded and pressed firmly. I get lots of feedback from the road with this setup. I can push it through the corner with a lot more confidence. I will switch to MPS4S tires next, which are 10x better than the RCF version of the MPSS tires. On a faster, bigger and more technical track, a good driver will be carrying a lot more speed with the RCF than in an S2000 (hence much quicker overall lap time). Anyway, the transmission takes a lot of time to warm (so does the engine to get to full redline). It takes roughly 30 minutes to fully warm up. Until then, the transmission will not get to its fully aggression. Also, rev matching once fully engine warmed up happens at over 5000 rpm. Below that, the engine because of the close ratios will simply downshift (even in manual mode) to a lower gear without rev match.
@KLRGT500KR
@KLRGT500KR 5 лет назад
@@143CAR BTW, the VGRS steering really becomes a lot quicker/tighter in sport+ mode especially at high revs. Not sure what mode you were driving in.
@143CAR
@143CAR 5 лет назад
@@KLRGT500KR I was in sport+ the whole time. Unfortunately it adds weight and speed, but not feel - which is really the problem with using electronics to 'tune' the feel of steering. Anyway, I dont disagree that the engine is best when it's revved out, and that is what I really enjoyed about it - the crescendo that happens at the top! Good to hear you are enjoying the car!
@143CAR
@143CAR 5 лет назад
@@KLRGT500KR I also think that while tires can have an effect with steering feel, the big component comes down to how it is tuned. And to be honest, I'm not sure it would be able to carry the same cornering speeds just due to weight alone; I think most of its advantages on track are due to straight line speed from power.

I think you hit the nail on the head with this review. I don't think Lexus ever intended for the RCF to be a BMW M-series killer. It is within striking distance of those cars, but it has a more comfortable drive and will have better reliability. I looked at Alfa Romeo, Audi, and BMW. In the end I chose The RCF because of its unique styling, luxurious interior, and V-8 engine. Plus it will have better reliability and lower maintenance costs.You are right, this is not a track car. It is a performance based grand touring car that should have be bulletproof . Toyota has some of the best engineers in the world. If they wanted this car to have been a true M-series killer, they would have reduced the weight before it even hit the market, and increase the horsepower. Their intention was to make the perfect GT car. In this sense I think they accomplish their goal, but the media was fixated on turning it into a track car. I just found your channel.Good review.
