Welcome to Remakes Reboots & Revivals, an original podcast about unoriginality. Hosted by Rolando Nieves and Nicole Pometti, this podcast compares and contrasts media with their newer, fresher counterparts and discuss how Hollywood exploits our love of nostalgia.
This was an interesting listen. I feel like because of ppl's dislike for J.Lo, they will REFUSE to give her credit for doing Selena justice. In my opinion, it WAS one of her best role, if not her best role. When it comes to the Abraham taking control of the narrative for the movie and releasing it so soon, you tell me what you expect a GRIEVING PARENT to do when there are other studios ready to release movies based on rumors, which speaking of, while you said "I'm not saying these rumors are true..." you certainly perked up at them because everyone always wants the "dirt" over the good. Whether it was true or not, had nothing to do with the legacy of music she left behind. Do I think they should've made her more human in the series? Yes, but NOT in the way that y'all seem do want juicy tea about potential affairs and whatnot. I will say the best humanized Selena we'll probably ever get is from Chris's book, To Selena: With Love. And Chris did NOT say they were going to divorce over the doctor. They were having other issues. The comments about Chris's appearance were low, and "no shade" doesn't make it better. Make sure you're looking like god's gift if you're gonna start coming for appearances.
I've discovered, after 15 years of intensive independent research, that Charles Dickens wasn't the original author of "A Christmas Carol." His social reform was a public relations image; but the original co-authors, Mathew and Abby Whittier, were sincere. Actually, Mathew had long written for social reform, against such things a debtors' prison, poverty, animal abuse and capital punishment. Abby did charity work with Irish immigrants and wrote stories (anonymously) featuring her clients, based on that work. They would, as I believe, have written "A Christmas Carol" based on one of their earlier collaborations, in 1838-39.
Lol. Bad acting where? No chemistry where? The woman just want to hate the show. Who wants to watch a series about a white slave owner whining about feeling different? Who does it connect to? Let's be serious here🙄
Saying a lack of chemistry between is willlllld lol and you only watched 2 eps. You must have been watching with your eyes closed. 😂 The chemistry between them is what the whole fanbase raves about. Saying bad acting is absolutely crazy and just point blank incorrect atp. Seems like u just went in not wanting to like the show.
If they called the series something else, these fans would point out plagiarism, they would accuse it of being exactly anne rice's story, because it is! lol adding a few more layers doesn't make the material original! Now the idea that the two main guys don't have chemistry is a little crazy to me, because it's the highlight of the show lol
I'm surprised no one has mentioned this, John Larroquette won an Emmy 4 years in a row for Night Court. He requested to be taken out of the running after that.
So happy to see you guys back! My condolences on everything that happened and my heart goes out to you guys. Maybe you can talk on a minisode about all these shows having shortened seasons. I finally caught up on Flash and Supergirl, after being a season or two behind on each, just to have to wait till god knows when for them to finish their seasons 😩. My fave Kurosawa so far is Ikiru. And Throne of Blood has a special place in my heart. Also, so down for trivia! My team obviously hasn’t been meeting during all this, and hasn’t been doing anything virtually. So, yeah I miss it.
