Seems like this brand has come a long way, C11 was infamous for campfires a few years ago. I was going to get a Xpeng G6 but now I'll have to go check out the C16, nice review, careful with that Moutai. Greetings from Zhuhai !
@@NiMareQ I wouldn’t be concerned about the brakes on road. But Xiaomi has offered a pad and brake fluid upgrade if owners want it. I’d daily this EV for sure. Rides well but it’s on the sportier side ride wise. But it’s not harsh. It doesn’t feel super cheap. But like I said some of the materials are plastic. But that’s the trade off for the driving dynamics you get for this price. Obviously it’s a new car from a new brand so I can’t speak to reliability or how it will hold up long term.
It's surprising the Xpeng isn't selling this car in Europe when they are selling other models which are more expensive than the Mone M03. In my opinion they should try to bring the best-value models first to appeal to consumers.
@@joelsnake8 This has only just come to market in China. Even if it’s plan to go to Europe they will first deal with the backlog of pre-orders in China.
Some features are not able to be offered. OS systems are changed to be compatible with Google services, ADAS features reduced. But which Chinese EVs do you think are only mediocre in the West?
I’m a *huge* NIO fan! I’m counting down the days until they hit the U.S. market. I need a car that’s fast, efficient, and keeps me moving-I don’t have time to be stuck charging forever like with Tesla! NIO’s about to change the game!
No. doesn't seem like it. But there are viewers whose first language isn't English. Either from Europe or Asia, places where Chinese EVs are being sold.
Great video, great car, great story, couldve been improved if the host had his eyes opened more, and created a clear structure for the video with timestamps
When a battery has issues you can get it out. Why would I buy a Tesla where it is more expensive than the value of the car to get a broken battery out? Makes no sense to buy a car without the swap function.
@@hishamarafa6780 unfortunately we don’t have all the specs before launch. So top speed for example was released when we filmed this. But top speed has been announced since 155kph. No specs on ground clearance
@@thomas8954 HP is in the video but it’s expressed as kW which is usual for EVs, Acceleration is also in the video as well as DC charge speeds. Nowadays OEMs like to fully release stats on launch which will be on the 19th Sept. This is becoming more common, as they try to drive those interested to watching the live launch event where there will be pricing, and launch buying incentives.
Well here in USA grandpa Joe and administration screwed over American consumers. USA inflation will not help our pockets as well. USA has seem to lost its business negotiating skills. Instead they are protecting auto union. Major hypocrites. Our stupid government is saying we want Americans to pay higher ev prices for American made not so great EV's. Very unfortunate what our government has become. Encouraging to invite china manufacturers to build etc. Would create jobs. Administration has to face it USA lost the race.
When something happens to a battery in a Tesla - you are forced to scrap the car. With a NIO you swap battery in two minutes. Which one of the two makes sense?
I mean apart from the central screen (which many EVs have, I mean where else would you put it lol) and the rear screen location, the comparison kind of stops there. I guess you can argue it has its steering wheel in the same place as a Tesla. Damn copycats. But in reality, the materials feel much nicer, the central storage design is not the same, the dash is three tiered, compared to the MY two tiered, there's "metal look" accenting all around. The Ambient lighting is far better then the new model 3 highland (I expect the Juniper to be similar) I mean how different can you make a minimalist interior?
@@ChinaDriven it's a copycat tesla.. even has the glass roof.. look at the inside of a Tesla then look at the inside of Ionic 5 or 6 or Mach e.. very different from each other.. this looks like a Tesla to me especially the interior..
I’m going to assume you are in a market where there are limited EVs on sale. There must be 100 EVs with glass roofs in China. from SUVs to sedans. There is no doubt this is inspired by the minimalist layout in a Tesla. but if you really look at both of them you’ll see there are differences. There are other EVs with wildly different stylings. There are EVs with similar stylings. the MachE sells very poorly in China. Its interior is not appealing to the market. And the Koreans have still not fully entered their EVs. So while I’ll agree there is some inspiration from the Model Y I don’t think it’s a straight copy. I think it proves that at this lower price segment this minimalist interior layout is popular.
@ChinaDriven you say inspired minimal design by Tesla I say it looks like copycat model 3 highland which they beat out tesla juniper release.. it looks the same interior wise. Exterior I am not gonna lie on the side kind of looks like Y. It's a few tweaks but your not fooling me it's a similar model y..
What part of the interiors look the same to you? They both have a single screen mounted in the middle? I think ONVO not having an instrument panel, rather using a HUD can make them seem similar. So in that respect yes, it is like a tesla M3/MY interior. But the difference in my eyes is the tesla interior on the highland and MY is very blocky and contrasting between black and white on the two tone. Straight lines. The Onvo follows NIO's styling more rounded soft edges with a more blended flow of the two tone. The example you gave of "different interiors" namely the ioniq 5/6 and mach E both have exteriors that look like they belong in ICE cars. As for the exterior styling, aero drag is going to play a big part in what you can do bodywise if you are trying to eek as much low drag as possible. It's going to have a coupish side profile, a small front section. But the interior space inside the ONVO L60 is massive compared to a MY. It's staggeringly different. You can see other low drag mid-sized cross-over EVs, IM LS6, Xpeng G6. While many OEMs have to stick to some sense of brand "styling" like Audi, BMW etc, NIO get to start from scratch, and we can guess that the shape of the Model Y & ONVO L60 is just going to be the best shape for that low drag.
When's that happening? I mean in China Tesla owners are still waiting, seeing a ot of companies pushing city ADAS here, but Tesla still hasn't given a timeframe or confirmation FSD is coming.
This is a Chinese domestic car. I'm in China... In my NIO the OS has an english version, and this car will have one at some point after launch. Unfortunately the AI voice assistant is mostly in Chinese on Chinese market cars. They do have english on those sold in Europe, but the full range of functionality is still far superior in the Chinese speaking system. So I'm not "obligated" I'm just in China...
Chinese can make cheaper evs If you guys whant someting electric , cheaper and you don't care about charging station , cameras safety fitures summon , fsd when you get tiyerd can berly drive , software update and more take a Chinese car . I hope the battery swapping machine are oraund the world not juste in china .
This has battery swapping...the Charging network in China is far more vast and robust then anywhere else. We can scan and pay on any charger with just our phones using wechat or alipay. It's quick, easy and require about three clicks. ONVO has OSD, similar to my NIO's NOP+, a similar system to FSD. But honestly Huawei & XPeng's systems are far ahead of NIO's right now. As for cameras these cars all have equal or higher level of cameras. Typical all 8MP for ADAS. There are cheap chinese EVs, there are expensive Chinese EVs. There are trucks, wagons, supercars, coupes, sedans, SUVs, full on off-roading EVs. There is something for everyone at every price point. That is why China is way ahead in EV adoption.
Nah Tesla Model Y is mostly outdated now in China. It's BMS is still pretty good. And the brand still has brand prestige. SkyOS which the OS runs on its built up from scratch by NIO. You can go read about it in more depth. But they claim its the first true ground-up in-car software. Built up from the microkernals. But I'm not a software expert
Competition or government mandated support to create a heavily subsidized sector, that is racking up huge losses to enable the China first mentality? Just like with the solar panels. Make 'm cheap, make 'm with slave labour, drive the price down so hard no honest company can compete.
Well other governments choose to subsidise other industries. China is choosing green energy and everyone makes out that's a bad thing...America subsidises...milk, so forward thinking. And its total BS since the US has also subsidised GM, Ford and others for EVs
@@ChinaDriven I know. All I mean is if you buy a Nio right now, you are paying more and getting less than an Onvo. I'm curious what changes they will make when they go to NT3 and how they will distinguish themselves as 'Premium'. As Onvo as of right now is 90% the build quality and 90% the performance of Nio. Nio has to make a big step to be worth the upgrade i.m.o. Also, something you didn't mention in the video: The main reason (I think) Onvo took such a big leap in energy-efficiency is they changed their heat pump system to something similar Tesla uses like the "super manifold" and "octo-valve". Most electric cars have standardized heat-pump systems that are inefficient. I'm no expert but apparently the heat from the batteries, motor can be used to heat the interior and vice-versa, also works for cooling. All systems are connected in such a way that there's almost no energy-loss. There are videos of engineers / mechanics explaining how it exactly works.
Thanks for the review, I like the efficiency of the ONVO. Amazing that they can make the battery thinner, and reduce the size of the motors. Also, such a low drag coefficient for an SUV coupe. No, I wouldn’t buy a Model Y if ONVO were available. Sadly it isn’t available (so far!) in Malaysia. The more I watch your reviews, the more I learn about car technology!😊
