The comments on here are ridiculous. The United States went to war with the Middle East Iraq and Afghanistan over the 9/11. What happened to Israel is on the same level. The hate for Israel and the Jews is completely unrealized here in the United States. The fact that college students in this country are supporting terrorist organizations backed by Iran is absolutely unbelievable. Israel deserves our support and whatever is necessary to remove any threat to them on their borders. Israel is our biggest ally and we should support them through this. I’m a Christian and I stand with Israel 100 percent. God bless Israel. The Jews are hated in the Middle East because of Islamic extremism that is also infiltrating the United States
The emphasis on intermarriage is bizarre and recapitulates the failures of reform/conservative. These "mainline" movements had a strategy of near-total cultural assimilation while promoting endogamy, when they needed to emphasize a meaningful and distinct (modern) Jewish culture that Jews would be willing to convert their spouses into. I could go on...
Wow, I'd really like to hear what Tal thinks about American September 2024. Tucker Carlson on the far-right stirring up Nazistic apologetics and on the far-left you have literal pro-hamas bands of students seeking out Jews on campuses.
The same picture you’re speaking of now reminds me an awful lot of how Israel has dealt with the Palestinians for the past 80 years. It rattles me how the Zionists do not see the resemblance between them and the Nazis. As an American, if you believe or support what Israel has been doing with the Palestinians/Arabs then you have no place in America. The same goes for the groups backed by Iran who want all Jews dead. I listened to the whole video and I can tell you that while that may have been the case where Jews feel welcomed in America I can tell you that it is almost always with the older white community and majority of Americans after 10/7 feel completely different towards Jews. Jewish terrorism is very much real and people now understand what Zionism really looks like and it looks a lot like Nazism.
Very sad the level of hatred and ignorance of the left faculty the Americans universities 😢 So very sad times in America , the first world civil country 😔
It sounds like Rabbi Hecht is committing Lashon HaRah, by accusing a Jewish-owned newspaper, and Jewish reporters, of writing something "like" Mein Kampf or the Protocols of the Elders of Zion.
Here's what Shapiro had to say in response to charges like yours of anti-Semitism, in a publication by Harvard's Shorenstein Center: The Journalist's Resource How they did it: New York Times reporters show Hasidic schools systematically denied students a basic education A New York Times education reporter shares tips and behind-the-scenes insights to help journalists cover insular communities and private schools. by Denise-Marie Ordway March 14, 2023 ... JR: What conversations did you and Brian have with each other and/or your editors about how best to frame or tell this story at a time of rising antisemitism in the U.S.? Shapiro: We had these conversations constantly, at every stage of the project, from the first day we decided to work on this series together to the day before the article was published, and also in the months since. We are both Jewish and have been extremely alarmed by rising antisemitism, and we made sure to tell readers that Hasidic people have experienced horrific antisemitic violence in recent years. A big part of the reason we felt so compelled to tell this story were the pleas from within the Hasidic community. We spoke with scores of parents, teachers and former students who asked us to shed light on the lack of education and what it meant for the community. We spoke with many people who had given up hope that community leaders would improve the schools or that the government would actually step in and enforce education law.
Answer to bad speech is more speech but if you use “more speech” against bad people (Islamists for example) you get a very large amount of violence and law enforcement and judiciary are either not able to handle the increased workload or are suppressive of “more speech”. Islamists have been going berserk with their bad speech in USA since 10/7/24 but if Vivek follows his more speech prescription, he would likely face threats of violence and actual violence, and he knows that and he knows what law enforcement and judiciary would do in response. I think what we need is “more speech” as a response to bad speech by a lot of people spoken simultaneously. And any threats of violence and violence should be dealt with immediately, fairly and effectively.
The role epigenetics plays in establishing a certain "culture" and its promulgation needs to be further explored to provide a broadened understanding of nature, structure, nurture, culture. We, all of us of the human species, are made up of aforementioned nature, structure, nurture, etc. Its not about chicken or the egg but both.
I'm from Indonesia and I want to share something. So, Indonesia was occupied and colonized by the Dutch for more than 100 years. It was very brutal, and the native population were subjected to unfair treatment and dehumanization. And then in 1945-1947, there was an event deemed similar to 7 oct for the dutch, but on a scale that is far far more destructive than 7 oct. The event was called 'Massa Bersiap Massacre 1945-1947' (google for more details). During that period, the natives were finally revolted against the colonizer (dutch) by massacring any dutch people that the Indonesians could find. They went from house to house and massacred the dutch inside, it was literally a killing spree. Tens of thousands of dutch settlers were killed during the Massa Bersiap Massacre. But do you know what's interesting? The Indonesian government and dutch government never declared the perpetrators as terrror***ists, because they understood the situation. There is no justification for any massacres or killing of innocent people, but in this context, it is understandable why the natives did that, because the dutch were occupying and torturing them for too long! Oh, btw, during the dutch occupation, the natives were called as 'pro-republican terro***rists, extremists, radicals, etc'. This is also what happened during 7 oct in occupied palestine, even though it was found later on that most of the victims of 7 oct were military reservists and they were k**illed by IDF during crossfires. In conclusion, what happened on 7 oct is unjustifiable but understandble considering the brutal occupation and siege by israel against the native population (palestinians/semites). So if you dont want 7oct to happen again, the answer is easy, stop the occupation, treat palestinians as equal human beings, give them rights as humans and make peace with them instead of carpet bombing them on a daily basis 👍🏻
Jodi Rudoren is not anwhere near as smart as she thinks she is. I was a long time supporter of The Forward, having stopped my support when she called for a unilateral Israeli cease fire in an editorial. For many of us open minded (naive?) Jews, what followed 10/7 was a realization that the vast majority of Muslims who care about this conflict seek nothing less than the destruction of Israel and the annhilation of its Jewish citizens. The "As a Jews" and "blinded by their progressive values" Jews, like Jodi Rudoren, are on the wrong side of Jewish history. They see a government in Israel they do not identify with and somehow craft that into a vision that if only Israelis were more liberal and tolerant, they would find like minded Palestinians in the West Bank and Gaza. I encourage any intellectually honest like minded person who believes similarly to read and listen to some of the work done by Einat Wilf. She is a "recovered" Israeli Labor minister, no fan of Bibi, who sadly has given up any hope of a two state solution in the absence of a complete de-radicalization of Palestininan society.
It's only complicated for those who insist on doing mental gymnastics to justify jihad. Even if you believe the misinformation and distortions from the Palestinians, jihad should not be justified. Jewish people have been living in Israel and the West Bank for over 3,000 years. Palestinians invaded from Mecca and Medina in the 7th Century. Why can Palestinians (Arabs) be full citizens in Israel, but Palestinians won't allow Jews to live in Gaza or the West Bank?
