I'm a lefty and drum open handed on the right since I started. It feels so natural I can play both ways but drum rolls are easier open. I got in my car and thought I would cross hands on the steering wheel. I now have no car😊 my advice do what feels natural
I'm a beginner, I'm functionally ambidextrous but right hand dominant with writing. So learning to set up my kit to feel right, and finding out that I, in fact, do not have to play cross-handed, is such a relief. I feel like I am doing it all wrong and experienced drummers are going to make fun of me for it. After watching your left-handed setup being played right-handed, I'm definitely going to have to give that a try. You're awesome! :)
My older brother is left-handed and growing up our set was often configured for a lefty. I would be too lazy to switch it for a righty. Thus, I learned how to play left-handed. I don’t actually think it’s that hard. I’m also ambidextrous with a lot of things. So maybe because I learned how to play the drums lefty early It helped me do a lot of other things lefty. Or maybe I was just born ambidextrous?
Had his instructional dvd Under the Table and Drumming back in the day and he was so incredible it made me not even want to try 😂 pretty sure that wasn't the intended effect
Your opinion is contradicting. You were playing that small drum set outside and is gonna be louder than a cajon when playing a small cafe shop or a restaurant. Cajon works best in certain situations but not outdoors.
Comment 3 on this video since it's come out: as much as I love Carter (tied for first place in my books) it was a bit "eye opening" seeing him night after night on this EU tour. Same hits, same kind of fills in the same places, same met mods in the same places (looking at you Madman's Eyes). I suppose he's getting old and there's really only so much you can do night after night but yeah
