Honestly, the Apollo 13 is a magnificent example of a combination of crew, ground crew, technicians and everyone else working together to overcome what could have been a terrible accident. Equal to, or even more magnificent in its own way than Apollo 11 where everything went right - not to denigrate the huge challenges they faced of course, but 11 and 13 are inspirations to everyone.
8:30, "... oxygen ignited..." No, the capsule will filled with a 100% oxygen atmosphere, something in the capsule started burning and the fire took off. If the atmosphere was normal air (78% nitrogen 21% oxygen) then the fire may not ahve even started, or would be slow enough to allow the astronauts to escape.
I remember this. It was totally preventable. All the engineers and the astronauts would have known that the danger existed, given the flammable materials and the 100% O2 environment. They should have made the fixes they made After the first, Before the fire, and it wouldn't have happened.
My son had surgery when he was a baby at 6 months old to correct his skull, soft spot closing up too soon. He remembers even now 36 years later waking up to the people dressed in green scrubs and of course as a little kid having nightmares about it when he was three he thought an ugly green horsey was biting his hair. To this day he still has trouble sleeping because of it
I remember after my open heart surgery in 88, they forgot to tell me I’d wake up after it& still not being able to move! I was young and so afraid that I couldn’t move or speak after that my body started to sweat tons & they could tell I was aware, next time I woke up I was back to moving. That was so scary! For people during surgery , I can’t even imagine! I’m good it’s 36 years later- I went to Yale New Haven
I woke up during a complicated gallbladder removal. Look to my left seen a woman in surgical garb with dark hair. Before I could even focus the burning and tearing out of my insides caused me to say some pretty loud profanities. Then I was out real quick. After the procedure my children were told I was having difficulty coming out of anesthesia. I'm sure it was that they had given me a real healthy dose when I woke up on the table.
I was having carpal tunnel surgery and woke up in the middle of the surgery to extreme pain in my wrist. I was able to speak, however, and I just said that hurts and I heard either the doctor or anesthesiologist answered and said OK and that's all I remember they must've turned up the juice lol
I woke up during surgery years ago. I sat up straight on the table. I remember the most intense pain ever. There was a 7 inch cut across my stomach. I screamed and could hear someone yelling "she's awake, she's awake!, put her out, put her out!"
The wiring insulation they made afterwards would later help apollo 13 get back home. As it prevented any shorting from happening as the ice and frost melted.
Guys, I'm glad you're interested in this video. But this isn't the only thrashy space disaster. Because of people's stupidity or inhumanity, there's a lot of thrashy happenings going on right now. But to tell all of them to you I need your help, I do not ask a lot, just subscribe and watch new videos. Thank you.
Simply not true and not possible. You don't know what you are talking about. 100% oxygen, pressurized to 16 psi, in a small space full of combustible materials? We know from the experience of the Soviets that in a less constricted environment, a fire in 100% oxygen is rapidly lethal. In the constrained space of the Apollo capsule, death would have been quick.
