I don't know. Bad default banner is bad. Too lazy to go to ggl images. Also too lazy too write "google". (name copyrights or ideas go to YTPer Nopeify. Don't sue me)
"Upon its release in 1996, the album was considered a critical and commercial failure." This isn't true. Pinkerton sold less than Blue, but was well recieved critically. It was a much heavier album than the Blue album in terms of production and material. Pinkerton was to the blue album what In Utero was to Nevermind, or Insomniac was to Dookie. Those albums saw sales that were a fraction of the previous more commercial sounding albums. Pinkerton sold as well as you could expect considering how it sounded. Blue had only sold a couple of million by that point, so it wasn't shocking that Pinkerton sold half a million. What was everyone expecting to happen? It divided fans a bit, but the fans that stuck around became HARDCORE. I remember the '96-'00 era well. Weezer fans were insanely hardcore in those days. The forums and fan sites were amazing back then and we all checked them daily. Great time to be around!
@@eternalsourceproject while that is true, i feel as though people say sharp leaving is the main reason weezer's sound is different, when actually they just wanted to try some new stuff out because of pinkerton failing commercially. i'm sick of people calling post pinkerton weezer "bullshi*." when weezer experiments and tries new sounds such as Red or Black, blue fans hate it because it's not the exact sound as the blue album or pinkerton. i will say though, when weezer tries to sound like what's "popular" it almost always comes out sounding stale (pacific daydream or raditude.) but it's sh**ty of so called "fans" to hate on all their new music and say they should make the blue album again. hopefully van weezer will shut some of the haters up, but there will always be a group of them.
Rivers wanted to start works for the 3rd album and Matt was in Spain recording The Rentals' 2nd album. Matt didn't want to come back to the USA and Rivers didn't want to wait. Then Rivers started looking for a news bass player and went with Mikey who had already played with him in Boston.
