I had just moved to Sydney the week prior to this storm hitting from Illinois. It was biblical. Baseball sized hail that flowed through the streets. It was unreal.
I couldn't help but listen to the waltz of the flowers while watching this. Just an absolutely fantastic storm with a veritable dance of tornadoes over an open and empty plain...
This is criminally underwatched. I have heard musings that this might have been better classified as a massive wedge with its multiple vortices being the tornadoes observed. Personally, I wonder if that description holds up at the ground because I feel like that would necessitate at least an EF0 rotating windfield at the ground. Perhaps some sort of hybrid structure? Either way this is exceptional footage. Also, that horizontal bridge vortex that formed just before the merger was incredible, and I have never seen or heard of such a thing!
Great footage! I followed this storm from Fort Collins up into central Nebraska that night. Many of the angles look very familiar! We probably passed each other a few times on the road!
