I too can confirm that this improved the problem no end. Having come from the 1st generation model to the USB-C 2nd generation, the play in the case was too much to bare, I could literally feel it shift and creak under my fingers as I picked up the case. I used some 3M Magic Tape for the job, three layers of it in total - and the creak is gone, the play reduced. Just cut a length off to cover the silver plastic area, aligned the edge at the base, and using a sharp craft knife, cut between the silver and white plastic to fit the shape. Used scissors to cut the edge of the tape back to a straight edge, realign, stick down, craft knife cut again. Rinse and repeat a third time.
Thank u so much. I thought id get premium quality for 318Euros but the wobbly top really annoyed me to the point where i didnt wanna use them. A friend who works at apple told me that pretty much all of them wobble a little bit so exchanging them would probably not fix the problem. Thanks to u i can use em now without being annoyed by the wobble.
Thank you very much! It worked!! Disappointed with Apple for having this quality issue for an item that is so highly priced. I took them to service today and the guy there said it has highly unlikely that they could replace them. Anyways, thank you so much for sharing!!
im not sure if this is true or not but apparently its meant to be like that so the hinge is so stiffed which can make it snap I also heard its so it can direct impact away from the AirPods
Just want to add that I tried it and it worked beautifully. I bought the regular AirPods 3 and the first pair had this problem with the case and the edges on the earbuds were very poorly assembled with little bits of glue sticking out. I went back to the store and received a new pair after some arguing and the newer ones were much better assembled but the case still wiggled. It’s a shame how Apple has become so much worse then before. Probably new factories in China and Vietnam who doesn’t take the quality control seriously but At the end of the day it’s still Apples fault. Thanks for your advice, the wiggling bothered me very much.
I've never owned another pair before these and I was really bothered because they are the most expensive pair of headphones of any type that I've ever owned. Having a problem of any kind is really unacceptable to me.
Thank you man! I feel sorry for the new AirPods Pro, I switched from AirPods gen2 and it was a huge quality difference between them. I expected the premium-like quality feel like on the old ones.
Just a small note that I missed, some stickers are thicker than others. You should start with a thinner one and only if that doesn't work - go for a thicker one. You'll know if it is too thick as the lid won't close properly.
