I actually have success by doing this slightly differently. I take the honey crop off late August and then make loads of splits with new mated queens. The winter losses are very low and I set a few aside to sell (April/May) and then the others I pop into a full size hive to become a production hives. Then we do it all over again, seems to work quite well and turn a small profit from a ‘hobby’. Great when the bees can pay towards their expensive up-keep 😉
We just wanted to clear something up for those of you who may have some concerns… We’ve had people asking us to confirm we’re not a scam because Simon retired and the business closed down last year etc. So please allow us to explain and put your minds at ease: Yes, Simon hung up his business hat at the end of March last year due to health reasons and feeling it was the correct time to retire. However, Simon saw a lot of himself in Harry and decided he wanted to sell Harry the ‘Simon The Beekeeper’ brand, along with some other assets. Before the business closed under Simon's ownership last year, Simon sent an email out to all of his subscribers and posted on his social media channels a video introducing Harry as the young entrepreneur that would be taking over the brand: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-E6sZUI3F9EI.htmlsi=TS9BQqrt20ane0B4 Because Simon The Beekeeper Ltd under Simon’s ownership completely closed at the end of March 2023, it means that the business and brand ‘Simon The Beekeeper’ under Harry’s new ownership needs to be built up from scratch again. Things such as email subscribers, social media presence, RU-vid subscribers etc couldn't be passed over due to strict privacy laws - and that’s why we’re starting our online presence again. We are working very hard to not only give the same competitive prices, but also the fast delivery that customers came to know and love from Simon The Beekeeper, but obviously we had to start on a smaller scale and are now able to start leveling up having moved into our new warehouse. Simon still pops in to say hello and will probably be having some cameos in Harry's videos soon. There is editorial about all of the above circulating in the beekeeping world, so please be rest assured that we’re 100% genuine, honouring Simon’s legacy and trying to push everything forward to new and exciting places. We're also uploading all of Simon's old videos to honour him too - what's the point in making new ones when he explains things so well? Hi Simon,love your videos great equipment. So I ordered a poly super a couple of excluders, good products but I have a slight problem in that the two round veils ,one I gave one as a gift and the one I now have worked out how to attach(thanks to your vid)but my problem is the suit that I own, well it's a metal single zip, and will not no matter how hard I've tried ,will not zip on to veil because it is a plastic zipper. So any suggestions or solutions, because I cannot get with the fencing style veil they mess with my peripheral vision😢 many thanks, Anthony 🙏🐝🧿
