Do you find that doing Olympic lifts and training for power is beneficial in parkour? I’ve been weightlifting for a few years seriously, but mainly body building movements. I’ve been debating switching it up to more strength and power training, as opposed to hypertrophy focused lifting.
In my experience, I've gotten a greater benefit from OLY (Specifically PWR Cleans & PWR Snatch) and traditional strength work (Full ROM Squat, Deadlifts, etc.) than with Hypertrophy training alone. Most of my bodybuilding work is more focused on attempting to strengthen the connective tissues around my joints (i.e. Curls & Pull-Ups for my elbows | Dips & Incline Press for shoulders | Leg Ext. & Nordics for my knees). I'm not an exercise scientist or a CPT but these are the things I've been doing the past few years and I've seen the best results with this method of training supplementation.
I hope that answers your question 😅 What you see me doing here is pretty accruate to much of my S&C work (Still recovering from a massive ankle injury so weights aren't crazy heavy). Much of my bodybuilding work isn't shown here but if you'd like to see more of that too, I can try to capture more of that as well. Say the word!
I feel like I'm ready to end it. Do you really think exercise will snap me out of this? I've been fighting depression for years, but the past month, I've hit rock bottom. I haven't been in good shape since I graduated med school (6 yrs ago). Where do I start?? Please help!!
I think, if you're serious, speaking to someone in person can be a great start. Try to find a local professional if you can, but even a family member or a friend can help.
Thats awesome. Man that house looks like it was on a video game.. the first tomb raider. You could go train at her house lol if this room wasnt inspired by that game you should go look up the video. Keep up the hard work.
MASSIVE. P.S. Sorry to see you sitting out at SPL, but know once you're 100% you'll be back with a vengeance. Definitely watching the journey and that's all part of the comeback story.
2nd Place. I did enough in the previous rounds + I was the first person and only person to flash a finals challenge. I think about it a lot how if my ankle didn't break on the catch of the last challenge, I'd have completed the challenge 😭. But I learned a lot from that moment! Ready to show my progress at SPL³ ☝🏿!
@@ThaWaverunner That's whats up though. You killed that comp. Crazy that it was actually a break. Ankle things like that happen all the time, never seen it that bad. And yeah, you definitely had that. Do they know if the challenges are even doable when they're set? That second one with the lache -> one footed landing -> hurdle pre seemed insane.
@parkouratheight they're making their best educated guess everytime. They're not certain because they don't have anybody skilled enough to actually attempt the challenges when setting them. But they know us as athletes pretty well, so they try to set challenges we can figure out. Could be better, but it's the best event around right now forsure.
