I can’t believe that there is not one original piece of dialogue in this commercial. The fact that all of the lines are just references from older films feels so cringe and awful. The concept of this is great, maybe only on paper, but they executed it so poorly
Never in my whole life have I hated an ad as much as I hate this ad. I've hated it from the first time I saw it. How long has it been running? Two. 1:00 Five years now? 10? It feels like 40. To make matters worse, I bought the Regal Unlimited pass a couple of years ago now. It plays before every single movie. Every single movie. Every single one. With the pass I see a minimum of two movies a week, which means I've seen this cringey, awful, nonsensical, poorly conceived and poorly acted ad at least 104 times. And no, it does NOT get better the more you watch it. The first dozen times you see it, you just wince and wonder why, with all the amazing, hilarious lines available in the history of Cinema, WHY these in particular? The second dozen times you see the commercial, you are trying to make the best of it by saying the lines out loud with the actors in their cadence. The third dozen times you're seen it, resignation seeps into the popcorn and despair settles into the numb parts of the brain. Your life comes to a complete halt until it's over. Death and apathsy wash over you for the length of it. You try the lines backwards in reverse order as the commercial progresses. After a year of going to the movies twice a weekyou've seen it for 104 times, but then by year two, you've seen it at least 208 times. That's the real cost of the Unlimited Pass. You have to watch the commercial for the pass you've already bought until your eyes and ears bleed.
I remember seeing elemental with my siblings and when my sister saw Danny Trejo she was like “you are too good for this awful ad” and i wholeheartedly agree.
Did Gex The Gecko direct this commercial? Because it sure has movie qoutes left and right. The only thing missing is Penis hour at George Clooney's house.
When I walk in the room, my husband says “she’s beauty, and she’s grace.”When I spill, I say “that’s gonna leave a mark.“ For no reason at all I say “you sit on a throne of lies.“ I see a lot of people don’t like this commercial but I love it “which is nice.”
I really appreciate this! My husband and I have regal unlimited so consequently see this a lot. Not only are we beginning to memorize the commercial but now we know which movies they came from. We had a few figured out, but this settles it! Thank you.
In fairness, Maria Menounos saying, "it's like trying not to eat the candy before the movie starts-- I saw you" then doing the fakest laugh I've ever heard in my life is probably even worse. I'm extremely surprised that a director didn't say, "can we try that one again?" or at the very least I wouldn't be seeing that one ten billion times. They should have ended that one's run by now.
I mean I think it’s a fun commercial, I like the movies they reference. Some of the lines are absolutely forced and don’t make sense given the context, but it’s not as bad as everyone says
Today someone said "you got that going for ya" to me and this ad popped into my brain as well as every line spoken in it... This ad haunts me everywhere I go..
My wife recently watched Caddyshack for the first time and when Bill Murray says that line, it totally derailed our movie night and we sat there talking about this dumb ass commercial
Sometimes I’m just feeling chillin waiting for the movie to start and then this fucking damned add comes up with the “hey you guysss” apart and that motherfucker “you’re saying there’s a chance?” Guy is just stupid, no wonder why there’s only 2 people in each room
Time to change this to a different intro…. It was good for a few months, but it’s time to change it! For the love of god: change this intro!! Aaaauuugh!!!
Some of y'all are just haters. Literally in the context of what the characters are doing and saying the movie quotes work except for the "you cant sit with us" "so you're telling me there's a chance?!" That's the only interaction that doesn't work/make sense
Thank you for doing this, it was nice to see where all the lines come from, I thought I knew most of them, just wondering where you can find out who the actors are who did these lines in the Regal ad
This ad never made sense to me, because I did not recognize any of the quotes. Today I watched the latest Thunderf00t's video (about self-powered TVs), and then it dawned on me. And yes, I bet none of what I just said made sense to you either (if you did not watch that video).
