For me, she was 100% winning that lipsync long before the rose petals, but i do think she needed that stunt to win because otherwise they would have just edited it differently. I also wonder about if she went up against Trinity with a great track record instead of peppermint with a not great track record in the final 2

A decisive lipsync moment that I think is still too underrated is in S12, when Jackie and Widow performed to "Firework." We all knew that Widow was a force to be reckoned with when she lipsyncs, and it really felt like she had it in the bag for a while--Jackie started off giving a really campy, funny performance, and she did well! But right around the chorus, you can see that exact moment when the lightbulb goes off in her head, and she realizes that she doesn't need to keep playing the lyrics as jokes to keep the judges' attention, because watching a drag queen in a red, white, and blue hijab look play the song as a straight empowerment anthem is all we needed to fall in love with her performance!

No matter how many finale showdown lipsynchs there have been since season nine nobody has been able to top that rose petal moment from Sasha. All the flips, splits, reveals don't compare in my book. If you think about it, it really was something so very simple yet Sashas conviction made it iconic. Still the best finale lipsynch ever for me.
