Hi, great video. I've been wondering if i should try to get an X870E mobo. Currently i have a GIGABYTE X670E Aorus Master mobo with a 7950X3D CPU. I'm an enthusiast and also want to get a 9950X3D, when it comes out, and would like to pair it with the best X870E mobo. But i've researched that alot of these new mobos have the PCIE lane sharing for example when you populate all of the M.2 slots, the PCIE 5.0 x16 slot drops to x8. I really don't like this at all because currently on my X670E Aorus Master mobo, i have all the M.2 slots occupied with NVMe SSDs and the PCIE 5.0 x16 slot still remains at x16 which is how i want it to be. So far i've only found out that the only X870E mobo which does not cut lanes, is the ASRock X870E Taichi mobo. And that makes me wonder if there's any other X870E mobos like that or is the Taichi the only one? I also wonder if i should even bother getting an X870E mobo or just wait till the 9950X3D is released and only upgrade my CPU, cause i don't really need USB4 or WiFi7. Any advice is welcome. :)
Thank you! The last part, upgrade the CPU and keep your motherboard as is. That being said, the 9950X3D might not even be worth the upgrade anyway,... I expect you will, but wait for reviews first as the 7950X3D could still be the best AM5 CPU.
*A little PSA* - Sorry for the cut in the video, I tried to clarify some info on the Strix X870E-E, but it seems there was still part I wasn't right about, so have cut it out. These boards are extremely complex below the surface and there are still things I am learning about myself, so please bear with me.
Yes and no to that question If you are on on flagships of X670E, no If you are not, perhaps If you overclock your RAM past 6000 mhz you should definitely go X870E On the subject of PCIE Gen 5 x16 slots: RTX 5080 and RTX 5090 are already Gen 5 x16, so, if you actually want max performance out of your GPU that you purchase, then Gen 5 is a requirement, not a maybe Be that on X670E or X870E, or X670 or X870
For sure there are some other yes or no answers, but I wanted to keep the video concise. I've run 7200mhz on B650E, so I wouldn't say you need an X870E just for that. Yeah for sure you'll need Gen 5 for those, but not everyone will want to buy the 5080/90 cards. Most people that comment on my build videos and those asking for advice aren't even running a current get 40 series or 7XXX card.
Why every time i install Asus armoury crate , my pc start freeze Does anyone knows how to fix it ? I read a lot of forums i re-install i format i did all steps but this application still freezing my pc !! Only unistall is the solution ?
If the boards have what you are looking for then yes. Just know that the boards are usually overpriced and maybe a x600 series will be cheaper and still have what you are looking for.
There is no point of upgrading these boards do not give any sort of performance boost , the only thing they offer are the fast usb which is no big deal. What a waste of money and time waiting on something that is no better than a 670e series, very disappointed for me as i am building a unique custom pc in a corsair 1000d case. Well hopefully one positive out of this is that the 670 n 790 series will drop in price.
Yep, just for those looking for the USB throughput. Yes, I mentioned the prices dropping but cut it out, that'll be great for people upgrading from AM4.
@@jordanash I am using the 5950x right now with 128ddr4 and a 7900xt, i was going to grab the 870 boards cause i want to build a seperate rig purely for gaming but now seeing all these reviews and actually being tricked into something that is nothing i am going to stick with the 670e series. As for ram who in their right mind would want 8000mhz seriously i think its more bragging rights than it will actually give any sort of performance for gaming. Rendering and 3d creation sure, but not gaming. As for pcie5 no gpu out there uses it and its more a selling tactic like them adding AI into their titles.
I think the Nitrodimm thing would be more popular if it wasn't on the two most expensive boards, but some might like to have ram that fast, I guess if you can run it why not right. In terms of boards, X670E will be a banger to buy now, especially as it'll become cheaper
Hi, just a question, if I went for the white version would all three cables such as the 12vhpwr cables also be white? (Sorry I’m a beginner I’m not sure about these things)
@@jordanash ah, ok. i checked the site and there wasn't much info there to be honest XD. only reason i wanted to see if the 12vhpwr cable was white or not is because on the strix 4080 super white edition all the unboxes i've seen have had black 12vhpwr cables in it.
I do know that the NZXT white PSUs have white cables OR what I would personally do if you can afford the extra, get a Corsair RM1000 and the optional white cable kit with 12VHPR adapter. The white Corsairs might have white cables to be fair.
@@jordanash ah ok, might try that. I myself will keep researching tomorrow morning and see what I can find about this TUF psu and the next one. Thanks for the help!
Thats the only board i found around 300 euros ( 340 $ ) with 2xm2 5.0 slots so far.. Or am i missing something... The prices are bit off rnw to expenisve tbh...
@@jordanash sorry i don't really understand the problem with the "CPU lanes" thing, what is wrong with the Tomahawk ? Putting NVME in the first NVME slot will down the performance of the GPU ?
The X870 have one chipset and the X870E have two. The E just allows use of more devices, but for most people who only need to use a single GPU and NVME it's not a problem
Not sure to be honest, had it got the holes for the antenna? To be fair if you *need* wifi, go for powerline adapters. They allow you to keep closer to the wired speeds than wifi does.
Thanks for the video! Im running a similar setup with yours, and im trying to see how much i can game until i can get a dedicated gpu. Im glad it works fine in valorant I think this kind of build is really situational, its good for ppl on a budget but want to get on the am5 platform
You're welcome, glad I could help! Yeah it is, maybe also for teenagers wanting to get a PC and build in bits, as the GPU is generally the most expensive single part now.
So here is the review about this board and another video is about Asus Crosshair Hero, the conclusion for me is ........... ASUS IS EXPENSIVE AND ALWAYS WILL BE NO MATTER WHICH YEAR OR GEN THEY ARE HAVING, and i really feel like i have to stop buying anything from them if they keep that policy, prices isn't helping, people are mad and complaining, and careless rich just buy more from Asus to let them continue their s... prices going on, i do have their mobo i the past which is Asus Rampage IV Extreme, amazing mobo indeed, but nothing much special over other brands, i also have same gen from Gigabyte and that isn't any less, it was much cheaper, so Asus is for me like Apple of gamers, i have Apple in the past and i stopped getting from them completely several years ago.
very much considering buying this motherboard with a ryzen 7 7800x3d for my new pc, dumb 14 year old me really overspent on my current motherboard for my current pc for a now dead cpu socket and so i can't wait to actually build a new pc as compared to my current kinda crappy one
Asus makes the best pc components. Will be buying the hero paired with the 9950x3d once they are released. Then an rog matrix 5090 once they are released in early 2025. Should be good for a couple years
I really like the white. It has a very "Cyberpunk" feel to it. Too bad this, and the pre-built are not even available in the USA. I won't spend $400 on shipping for a mediocre case.
I don't see why not. Personally if you can't use ethernet I'd recommend powerline adapters though into the ethernet jack, no need to worry about positioning or anything and you can get more of the traditional wired speeds.
I really hope Acer decides to make this case in other colours for the DIY version later down the line. A gunmetal colour with the same decal scheme would be really nice. They could even include a cheap sheet of waterslide decals to change up some of the markings.
Hi, I have a question and hope you can answer my question! ☺ With this motherboard, I just need to buy a M.2 gen 5 SSD without heatsink and i can use it normally, right? Or do I have to buy a M.2 gen 5 SSD with heatsink for SSD?? 🤔
Very nice case. It would be even nicer if it included a PSU with suitably short cables. It's really annoying when a PSU has cables twice as long as they need to be.
