Reviews of Classic Science Fiction Films, Warhammer 40K, Planescape, Twin Peaks, Dark Souls, Bloodborne and Silent Hill. The reviews are typically in-depth analyses of the subject but I also post let's plays, and movie and game reviews.
What a fantastic video!! I've seen many reviews of this game and this one is def one of my favorites.. I loved how you you highlighted the world building and aesthetics of this game, truly unique 2000s material
Just watched this video. Excellent. Unfortunately, there is no chance of Dark Sun coming back to 5e. Their new editing guidelines won't let them have the word slave or slavery in their products, and half races like Muls would likely not be allowed because halfelves and halforcs are gone from the 2024 PHB. These changes are not the way I might have approached it -- i see DnD races as aliens compared to each other who through the will of their god and evolution have developed to fill certain evolutionary niches. Why only halfelves and halforcs? Look at nature and you find that only certin species can mate and have children. Chipanzies and apes are not the same. This has all been relagated to past as bioessentialism these days, but that is fine. Games evolve to meet their players where they have the most fun, and 5e remains fun - just not likely to update Against the Slavelords, or Dark Sun.
I don't know when I'm going to be able to make a new video. I got majorly sucked into Pathfinder Wrath of the Righteous and I'm thinking of making a video on it eventually.
39min 12 seconds, that is *_not_* a rocker chick hairdo from the 80s. That's the early to late 90s. Why does everyone born after the year 2000 think everything happened in the 80s?
Always wondered what a review of Shelly would be like if done by a woke person, insistent on using todays nonsensical jargon about abuse, "because of this" "because of that" with everyone now pretending to be a psychologist, who never saw these shows when they came out, never having to wait a week in between each episode to see what was next. Brilliant.
In the film "The Howling Man" the "Staff" was substituted for the Cross-[to avoid controversy]...! For if merely an imprisoned man easily could've reached down and lifted the Staff to be free; - only unrighteousness cannot touch Righteousness? - Jesus dying on the cross for us is the pinnacle of Righteousness subjected to the wiles of Satan who put Christ there reveals the brilliance of Gods trick on him when Jesus rose on the 3rd day as the key to the door for mankind's way back to God in this fallen world = thru Christ's Righteousness alone...! In the travellers delerious state he didn't think to ask why if Howling Man wasn't Satan but mere mortal man didn't he reach down let himself out-> reveal its a choice WE each make in our own lives to loose him...!
I was interested to play this game, but not anymore. This guy wants to say W8 is the best rpg, and yet he says so many negative things about it. Definitely not playing this now, it sounds like a nightmarish slog fit for masochists. Like who makes the first area in the game a long road full of enemies? That's shitty game design. "Games after this became pathetically easy!!!!" No, they just became playable and not an absolute sadistic slog like this. No wonder Wizardry died after this, I wouldn't be surprised if half of the people who bought this game didn't make it half way through before quitting. Thanks to the person who made this video, I really dodged a bullet here lmao
"La Revolution" was great too, more on the paranormal side with the undead concept, visually striking too... the only problem - it's unfinished, but I'd still recommend it.
Yeahh....not covering the UI up with your camera is a much better way to show the game. Do we really need to watch you play the game, if the game is what you're highlighting?
I'm not sure if you edited this with a visual footnote, as I'm listening to audio only, but i think Neeva was a human gladiator, if I'm not mistaken. Either way, thank you for the video. Very enjoying and relaxing.
The Create Life spell of Alchemists at high level will summon a Godzylli or Bloodwyrm, the former has 1025 to 1480 hp, causing issues for even the best bosses.
Cooper wanted Audrey the entire time, let’s be honest. It was just a far too taboo topic and therefore it was a big no since day 1. Cooper clearly enjoys the ladies, just ask dougie jones 😂
1:24:58 I actually heard an extremely compelling argument that the Camarilla is La Cosa Nostra (the Sicilian Mafia), with each clan being a mafia family. You're brought into a world that exists beneath human society. Your every waking moment is dominated by the need to survive outside the normal society. The Camarilla has its own laws, enforced in secret. 1. The Masquerade is identical to the Code of Silence. You cannot reveal yourself to anyone on the outside. 2. Territory is to be respected. 3. You cannot bring anyone into the organisation without approval from the bosses (elders). 4. Killing a made man (kindred) is punishable by death. This is one of my all-time favorite RPGs. I wish they would reimagine it into a modern style. I once attempted to recreate it using the editing tools from the Never Winter Nights 2 computer game. I was able to create one town and the immediate areas surrounding it.
Interesting that you went into it satirizing the "modern babby games" critic and then immediately pulled that point up seriously. Not sure which way to take that. Early games were made hard in the interest of two things- one quarter munching because a lot of them had arcade dreams, and two to be seen as a good value for the money, because the file sizes were so small the difficulty significantly lengthened the amount of time it took to beat. But, being difficult just to be difficult is widely seen as a mistake nowadays. However being difficult as an intentional game mechanic is seen as a good thing, like everyone's favorite critical comparison game is. Wizardry was the progenitor of that mindset imo. It was meant to be unforgiving, to see your team members die, to hit you with tragic RNG. Darkest dungeon is just a new coat of paint designed to evoke the exact feeling of Wizardry- constantly at risk of failure, party members dying, not enough space in the inventory. Wizardry was also just meant to be a challenge because the circumstances of the story said you were in an impossible situation and they wanted to represent that well, and boy did they. Difficulty back then was seen as more appropriate but nowadays having modularity is even better. Being able to specifically tone the difficulty to challenge yourself while not frustrating yourself, or to be able to take it easy when you want to, is absolutely fine. What matters more is the option to be able to turn the difficulty up if you are a player who is of that skill level. When games are tragically easy even on hard its awful.
I saw Hawkwind and Hawklords so many times I lost count. From the 1970's through to the 1990s (and the odd time since then). It was almost a religion to many of us Hawk' Fans back in the day. "It was like Star Trek with long hair" - Lemmy. Space is Deep, my friends...

souls players and elden ring fans should give this game a shot. Just like "Dungeon Magic" you have to grind, think, and really conserve resources. It's a frustrating, cleverly-made game with so much awsome replayability.
