Ngl parts of Systematic Chaos, mainly Repentance, parts of Ministry of Lost Souls, and In the Presence of Enemies Part 2 before the instrumental break sound like opeth, minus the death metal and harsh vocals. Happy to know both of these bands are (seemingly) close!! Ngl I could totally imagine Mikael doing death metal growls to "DON'T!! BOTHER TRYING TO FIND THEM!! THEY WILL BE COMING FOR YOU!!" from In the Presence of Enemies Part 2. The instruments in that part sound suspiciously like Opeth....
Portnoy's bloopers have been cracking me up for so long, lol. Good thing about him being back is we can finally see him play The Best of Times and The Shattered Fortress with the band live! Excellent job with this fanumentary!
I love Portnoy and Im glad hes back but dear god during the Systematic Chaos/Black Clouds era he was so insufferable LOL!! he seems that hes chilled out now and im happy for that
I remember watching each episode on Real Player. Elektra intro, and hype levels from another world. After "Scenes" every snippet from the new album was simply amazing. Thank you for this video!!!
fun thing is that, mike revealed he wished to fill opeth's drum spot, because he is a massive opeth nerd, its his bus touring gig i love axe, im sad that he left, but in between axe leaving and new drummer joining, mike wasnt back in DT yet, so they missed this opportunity, man... imagine opeth playing the glass prison
I don’t want to think that Mike stayed with them just to complete his 12-step process, him saying “ok I got this done I can go now” would break my heart. But it doesn’t matter now he’s back. Can’t wait for October 26.
5:42 And now for the AAR (After Action Review) with Jordan Rudess and Mike Portnoy. Here's an exerpt..... 5:49 Jordan Rudess: The audience was amazing. 5:50 Mike Portnoy: Just give me my wings and let me get the fuck out of dodge. 10 out of 10 for absolute freakin' hilarity : ).
Really hoping they did some documenting on this upcoming album. Also is it just me or is the bass WAY more prominent in this video when they bring in the full band? It sounds so damn good!
