Excellent video!! This topic is searched a lot too so I have a feeling that overtime this might be one of your best videos, but don’t quote me on that 😊😅. I love how you are teaching and explaining. It’s clear and comprehensive, but not overwhelming. I often forget to put a light wash down over the white canvas and that is simply because I’m sooo excited to start a new piece and want to get painting and skip that step 🫣☺️🤔.

I really appreciate you sharing your knowledge- good video. Just a suggestion. I would find it helpful if you paused to show the brushes you are talking about and if you are talking about a brush stroke technique, if you would slow the video speed down to demo it once or twice as you are talking about it before you resume the time lapse. I’m an acrylic painter and am always wanting to learn more and improve my own practice.

@@cassydraws it's a small 30x40cm painting. The horse is trying to scratch its leg with its mouth :D You can see a whole body of the horse. I need more glazing on it... This is such a great breakdown! I think painting all black or all white subjects helps to train your eye to pick out subtle tones and color shifts! Question: is your wrist brace one of those compression ones? How do you like it? I am starting to have wrist pain, but the old school braces with the metal are so obtrusive. Thanks 😊
@cassydraws
@cassydraws 9 дней назад
Thank-you so much for saying that. I am so glad, happy, and relieved to hear it! You always hope you're making sense when creating these tutorials so this is excellent feedback! ♥ I couldn't agree more! After painting this jaguar, colour just seemed to pop off the canvas and became much more noticeable. Maybe I should tackle a white fur subject next! As for my wrist brace - yes! It is a compression sleeve I purchased from WS6. (On Amazon) I can honestly say it has changed my life and allowed me to work much more comfortably and longer in both painting and computer work. I absolutely despised the braces with metal/plastic inserts and found this to be the key to my relief! I definitely recommend getting one, it has been a game changer! Any more questions, please let me know. I'm happy to help! Cheers.

Might not be entirely related to this awesome lion painting, gorgeous job by the way 💜👍🏻, but when you sketch out your subject, how do you prevent the sketch from getting smudged? As for Timelapse videos…some people love them, others don’t. Really depends on your audience. It’s great ASMR.
@cassydraws
@cassydraws 28 дней назад
I truthfully don't do much to protect my sketches, which always is a cause for nerves when I start my paintings! I just pray and hope for the best. LOL! I use a heavier graphite like a 4B, so that there is a lot of graphite on my canvas that is much darker than a regular HB, or H pencil. So when I go over the sketch with my wash it may lift some of the pencil but not all of it. I hope this helps! I'm sorry it's not much of a magical explanation. LOL! ♥ Yes, I agree with that! Some folks really enjoy them, and others not so much!
@mimisart
@mimisart 28 дней назад
@@cassydraws Thanks so much for answering my question. I have asked other artists and often don't get a reply. I think it's sad when channels grow bigger, that the actual artist isn't hanging out in the comments. A pet peeve of mine. I might try a heavier graphite, thnx for that. And here is my game plan for the future...once my current channel is well up and running (fingers crossed) I'll start a second channel with either just timelapse videos (faceless and voiceless) or a different option: more show and tell type of videos (still faceless and voiceless) like you already see on RU-vid (like Chloe Art or Serena Art). I'd adjust my type of paintings for the latter option and might go with landscapes as those are typically a lot faster and easier for me to paint. Definitely a lot less editing involved ;).
