I'd like a hull like that in 3/8tg steel plate. Maybe I'll build one. I like the ride of a steel boat. I bought one cheap on a whim once from an old guy who was not going to be around long and I've never went back to fiberglass. I've been thinking about building a big one.
I really like the layout of the Dixon boat's just not sure if they could fish the weather of Northern CA or Southern OR how would they handle a big sloppy fallowing sea or entering a 15' breaking bar.
We own a Dixon it was 45x20 with a 5 foot extension and that boat works off of Carmel and pt sur and we fish In sometimes 40kts of true NW and sometimes In swells exceeding 15-18 ft. These boats were built for rough weather and no place like Nova Scotia to prove it. We fish the boat there before we bought it and That boat is Bad Ass. OceanWarrior out of Monterey California.come check her out.Super Tough. No other lobster boat like them.the boat is 60x20 now . Amazing Ride cruises at 12 will get on step at 15knts and push 18kts. TOUGH!!!!
