Welcome! My name is Lexi and I'm a stay at home mom of 4 that loves all things makeup! Here on my beauty channel I share lots of easy to follow tutorials, makeup hauls, makeup favorites and all the beauty tips I've learned along this journey of makeup application. I love creating videos that share my passion for makeup with you all! Please subscribe and join my amazing RU-vid family. I appreciate your time, love and support....it's the reason why I do what I do!
Thanks for the video! When you were talking about the mascara I stopped suddenly and thought wait, do I even own any Milani products and except for my jumbo setting spray which I adore, I don’t! 😂 ❤
I wanted that Prequel gleanser to work for me so badly bc all the things you said are true. But I had a terrible reaction to it! 😭 It broke me out in pustules and rashy bumps all over my face and I had the worst eczema flare from it. So weird! I'm the exception bc so many people love it 😢 I've tried most of the products you mentioned, and there are some nice ones! 🎉
Oh no...sorry to hear that you had a bad reaction. I didn't think it would cause eczema since it has the eczema association seal. I would contact the brand via customer service and see if there's anything they can do or even recommend for this reaction. That shouldn't happen especially with the gleanser. I hope your skin gets better. Thank you for sharing your experience.
@@GlamourbyLexi I was able to send it back for a refund (but I had to pay return shipping). So it worked out. The reaction went away after a few days. I love Dr. Sam so I was trying to support her, but the line didn't work for me unfortunately. That's okay, not everything works for everyone!
The foundation has a similar ingredient list to Double Wear, and I do like both foundations. I saw that you are weary of the paint smell, but it is not strong and doesn't linger. I agree that finding a shade can be difficult, but luckily I have a match for pale and tan for myself. I haven't tried the concealer bc I can't find it in the stores, but EmilyNoel has raved about it in the past. The lip products look nice and I haven't tried them yet, I'll put them on the list!
I didn't know the ingredients are similar to DW. I own the Double Wear foundation (it's one of my faves) especially for summer time. Thanks for letting me know about this! I'm apprehensive with paint smelling foundations bcuz in the past WnW photofocus gave me perioral dermatitis which was very difficult to treat with prescription meds. So whenever I smell a formula or read reviews that mention that...I'm automatically a no. Maybe some day down the line I'll be brave enough to just go for it 🤷🏻♀️ I will continue trying the other Hard Candy products and feature them in upcoming videos. Thanks for watching!
@@GlamourbyLexi wow that's tough! I totally understand why you wouldn't jump on trying it. I had problems with the WnW foundations too, but I've used 2 bottles of the Hard Candy without problems. You don't have to risk your skin for a video though lol it's all good! 😄
Lexi, I have never tried Hard Candy products. I've seen many influencers use the line but it never really spoke to me. Your makeup looks great. I think I'll have to try the eyeshadow palette. Those are my favorite colors. Have a great weekend my dear. 😉
Same. I never really had any interest in this brand until subscribers started asking me to feature it in my one brand series. Hard Candy does have some good products. Fun fact...this brand used to be sold in Sephora stores back in the 90's. And now, it's exclusive to Walmart. I did some research on them and I was shocked by that. Anyway, glad I tried them. Thanks for watching!
@@GlamourbyLexi I had no idea it was at Sephora way back! I am amazed by the things at Sephora and the prices they charge. In all honesty, I have never bought a single product at Sephora. I go the Ulta but even then I don't go over like $35 for a single item. I'm a drug store girl all the way but even that's getting expensive. Have a great weekend!
I agree, Sephora is getting very expensive. I'm realizing how far money goes on the drugstore side vs. high end. For the same price I spend for drugstore, at Sephora I'm walking out with only 2-3 products. But on the other hand, drugstore prices are getting ridiculous as well. I've spent over $20 for a foundation. Insane when I say that out loud!! 😳 I can only imagine where prices are headed in the next couple of years. I hope you have a good weekend!
I generally live your videos but I think it’s only fair for you to test the foundation/concealer options as well. Love them or hate them, it’s a makeup review
Thanks for the feedback. I didn't go into details as to why I chose to avoid their foundation/concealer. I generally for these one brand videos, use the foundation and concealer. I did mention the reviews online were off putting but didn't further explain. A little back story here.....One review I read out of many on this brands foundation was the smell of paint and it immediately reminded me of a really bad experience 7 years ago with Wet n Wilds photofocus foundation. That foundation from Wet n Wild (back then) had a paint/paint thinner smell and caused me severe perioral dermatitis. This condition was difficult to treat topically with prescription creams (for 8 months) so I had to stop trying to conceive in order to take the oral antibiotics usually prescribed for a 3 month cycle to cure it. But I will say, that I didn't personally smell Hard Candy's foundation to know for sure. I'm just going off reviews like anyone else reading them or watching them would. My hope in sharing this with you is that it provides a better understanding to my decision for this one brand video. Maybe I should've explained it in today's video? Anyway, sorry my response was a long one. Thanks for taking the time to watch. Have a good weekend!
@@GlamourbyLexi Oh I’m sorry I didn’t realize…so sorry you had that reaction to WnW😢 I now completely understand and respect your decision. Thanks for your thoughtful response to my comment!😘
Lexi, I found older videos of you on RU-vid; you are the genuine article! Oh my goodness, I watched a mascara video of yours from 10 years ago. I especially enjoy your one-brand videos, drugstore level. Your down-to-earth, calm and informed style are a pleasure to watch. I always learn something. ❤
Aww thank you!! You are so sweet. I'm so happy to hear that my videos are helpful. I have enjoyed doing the one brand drugstore videos. My audience really seems to enjoy this type of content. I have found many new affordable favorites through this series. Thank you for your continued support 😉 Have a great weekend ahead!
I've been hearing so many good things about the Prequel line. My favorite sunscreen atm is the Haruharu Wonder. I'm also testing out the Biore and that is one nice too.
Prequel is definitely worth trying. It's created by a dermatologist from California. Who better to buy skincare from than a licensed Derm?! I'm sure her knowledge and experience with patients, helped her formulate products that actually work. I have lots from this brand and haven't been disappointed. Thanks for watching!
In Haus Labs I wear shade 050 Fair Cool. The undertones in Haus Labs is different than other brands. Cool tones in this brand are more yellow based and the Warm tone are more pink based. It's opposite of what you'd think when comparing undertones of foundations. Haus Labs still offers the discovery kit as shown in this video which I'd recommend trying for shade matches. In NARS, I have Gobi for two of their foundations. Other brands....Hourglass Ambient shade 2.5 Cool, Estée Lauder DW shade 1N0 Porcelain, Charlotte Tilbury shade 2, Clinique WN01 Flax, Polite Society shade Fair Neutral, Smashbox Always On shade F30N....just to name a few. I hope this helps. Thanks for watching!
I have several physicians formula powder products and I like them all. I have the luminous powder that you used on your face in both the translucent and the pink tone and I like them both, especially in the winter when I like a bit of a glow to my skin.
I love one brand videos. I think the foundation looks great on you, and love the lip. Unfortunately for me the eyebrows just looked too thick and big for your small face. I hate to be negative l. Maybe it is just my screen. Other than that everything looks very nice on you.
Yup - I agree. The eyebrows look too severe. Maybe you can’t tell from your angle, Lexi. I think using a thin brow pencil to make softer hairline strokes in the brow and at the front would be much more attractive. 💋 Cannot stand a lot of PF products just because of their fragrance; kind of ironic for a “sensitive” skin brand. Also, the component for this particular concealer gets soooo messy - hated it.
Unfortunately, Physicians Formula doesn't offer many shades in their brow pencils. I think at the time of ordering, there were only 2 options. Not very good for anyone trying to get a better match. Thanks for the advice on the brows. Will try to make them thinner and see how that looks and feels for me. Thanks for watching!
The pale yellow square in the contour palette is a non shimmer highlight. You would use this to sharpen your cheek contour, down the bridge of the nose and such 😊
The e.l.f. foundation shades and undertones are difficult to find an exact match from my previous experiences so I ordered a few shades for this video. Thanks for watching!
Thank you for your review. I have some of the same preferences as you: powder blush and neutral tone for my foundation. I swatched Paris and London yesterday - they were both lovely. I have loved the B.I.G. Mouth lip plumpers - it stings so do not get it on your tongue/inside your mouth accidentally. I did while talking & started coughing 😂 I bought the blush/highlight palette, but the reflective case shows every freaking fingerprint & is too scented for my preferences, so I returned it.
I hope my review was helpful. I haven't tried anything else from Polite Society since posting this video. Based off of the sound of their plumper, I don't see myself trying. Thank you for watching and sharing your experience!
I never did try the cc cream or whatever it is. I didn't see many good reviews about it online. But I do enjoy their halo glow filter as a foundation, their original satin foundation and their liquid shadows are a stellar product.😊 Thanks for sharing.😊
Gorgeous. I may have to try Milani again after seeing them on you, Lexi. The lip stain is beautiful - and I usually find them too drying. Face products are a great match. Their mascaras have been a huge flop for me too. Thank you!
Aww thank you! Milani has some great products. The lip stain was surprising. I didn't expect it to feel comfortable. Unlike many other stains...this one has some moisture to it. I hope you'll enjoy it too. Thanks for watching! Have a great weekend 😉
Yup. Another “not fan” of NYX - used to like them when they were sold in Canada at Save On Foods. Their prices have skyrocketed. I’d rather use Wet n’Wild, elf or Hard Candy. Like the look but I do think the brows are too stark. (Just my opinion.) Thank you. ❤
I don't think eyeshadow is their strongest category of product. I will try this palette again using some of the colors I didn't use in this video and see what happens. A lot of brands' prices have gone up. Some foundations at the drugstore can go over $20...insane! Thanks for watching!
Hi Lexi, I enjoyed today's video. I really like your eyeshadow even though you didnt care for it. It seems that you don't usually go that dark on your lids, if my memory is correct. I like the smoky look for special occasions. I think the rest of the look is pretty too. I get it though that if you have to work harder than normal to get a product to work it isnt going to be your favorite. I go through that more than i like to admit. I cannot contour and use blush without making the outcome look muddy. Thanks for purchasing the products so that we can decide if we like them or don't want to spend our money.❤
Yes, I don't normally do smokey eyes day to day. I thought I'd try something different for this video and it didn't work out how I hoped. This palette was just too much work to use so I don't recommend it. I hope these one brand videos are helpful. Thanks for watching!
I actually think your eyes are poppin...... But I won't buy them anymorr...way too pricey.....I'm in Canada and for that palette it's probably like 27 buks .... Eyeshadow at the drug store are not the best.....it's really hit and miss.....I love ipsy for that reason and for skincare.... I just got a huda palette and a small blending brush for 25 us so like 38 buks and that palette will last for yrs.... New sub :):):)
Thank you so much! I didn't realize the price differences between U.S. and Canada. The prices of makeup (and other things) these days is getting ridiculous. I agree with eyeshadows from the drugstore not being the best. It's an area that needs improvement. Thank you for watching and subscribing...means so much 😉
I don’t use ELF because all of their products are made in china charges related to human rights violations (including forced labor camps), unequal treatment of women, conflicts with Hong Kong and Taiwan, and persecution of the religious in China
Good on you for coming out with a good look, despite the challenges! 👏 They changed those wooden lip liners, they're now made in Mexico. Have you had any issues with the new ones? I bought Nude Pink a couple months ago and couldn't get it to draw a line at all, not even on my hand. The "lead" felt like plastic and I tried sharpening it and warming it up and it just wouldn't go on, so I returned it.
I haven't had any issues with mine. Those are some of my faves from the drugstore. Sorry to hear it didn't work for you. Maybe you got some from a bad batch 🤔 I'll have to check mine and see if different colors are made in different places. If so, that could mean a difference in formula. Thanks for watching!!
I've had several people say the same. It's unfortunate that it's not working for us. I really love L'Oréals skin tint and true match foundations. Thanks for sharing your experience and for watching!
That L'Oreal Fresh Wear foundation is my favourite foundation. Interesting. I've been using it for years.. I used to have oily skin but now I have normal skin. However, when I apply it I use only a very small amount (far less than you used), and always immediately after doing my multi-step hydrating skin care routine. Not sure if that's what makes the difference.
I'm happy to hear that it's working for you. I think the skin prep beforehand is super important with this formula. I will continue trying it out with other primers, setting powders, etc. and see if it changes my results. Thanks for watching!
Lexi! You are not alone. I am not a fan of this foundation either; it soaked right into my skin, patchy. (I have pretty good skin, normal-dry.) You do look pretty though from this end of the camera. 😊❤
Thanks! It seems like this formula isn't working for many of us. I've had several people say the same thing. It's unfortunate bcuz L'Oréal makes such great formulas/products. Thanks for watching!
I got the Infallible freshwear foundation at a local drug store for about 3 dollars on clearance so I gave it a shot. It was dry and cakey and didn't work for me. Sone people swear by it. I tried it on a lark, but it's a no go. Thanks for the review.😊
Sorry to hear it didn't work out for you either. I will be trying mine again with different base products and see if that changes my results. What are your favorites from the drugstore? Thanks for watching my video.
@@GlamourbyLexi I use elf halo glow liquid filter, CoverGirl clean original, L'Oreal true match, Maybelline fit me in both matte and Dewey finishes, and a total hidden gem is Wet n wild photofocus dewey. Just to name a few. Thanks for asking.😊
Thank you for this review😘❤. I’m so sorry this didn’t work out for you😢. I know it’s a terrible feeling when you don’t like your base makeup. It’s amazing how foundations work differently for people. Thanks again!
You are welcome! I'm glad I was able to share my thoughts on this foundation. I will try it again with different skin prep and see if that changes my thoughts. You never know....I might find the right product pairings to make it work. Thanks for watching!
I’ve frequently had trouble with Elf products. I tried those bite sized mini palettes, and I agree that they went on easily and they come in great shades. I was curious about how they wore on you. For me the shadows faded faster than anything else I have. The truth for me is that most Elf products including the brushes (almost all I have purchased start shedding right away). I truly don’t have confidence in Elf.
I'm sorry to hear that elf makeup isn't working for you. As with a lot of brands, there are hits and misses. I hope with these drugstore one brand videos, I am helping you and others watching find the right product worth trying. Thanks for watching and sharing your experience with elf. Take care!
Same! I've never really loved their foundations or concealers. I'm hoping with the right primer, setting powder and setting spray, that Soft Glam foundation will work for me. I'll keep testing different primers, etc. and keep you all updated. Thanks for watching!!
Lexi, this was very helpful. I was wondering about the foundation. I may get by using it because my face is dry due to being 63. My entire body has changed to being dry, nails, hair, everything. ELF's products are decently priced but not everything is a bargain if it doesn't work. I like their blushes and the hydrating camo concealer. Some eyeshadows are ok. Your look was pretty but it always is. Have a great week! 💞
Thank you! You are so kind 😉 Overall, elf does have great products. I've been testing out some of my old faves from them along with the newer products to see how it all works out. I will be doing an elf in depth one brand look with category break downs and product recommendations very soon. Stay tuned for that one. Thanks for watching!
Thanks. The end result was pretty. I'm still testing out the Soft Glam with other primers, powders, etc. to see how it works out for me. Stay tuned for an in depth one brand on elf coming soon! Thanks for watching.
Beautiful put-together look. 😉💋 Now I will be trying those NYX blushes. The elf lip oils are awesome - true. The sheen in yours is gorgeous. Hard Candy also makes some amazing lip oils (I have the repair one which is clear - so good) and many other fantastic products. Lexi, would you consider doing a one brand videos on Hard Candy and Rimmel? Walmart always sells them, the later at 3 products for $18 (in Canada). Thanx!
Thanks! The NYX blushes are really pretty and the ones I've tried have blended in so easily. I've had a few requests for a Hard Candy one brand video. I bought products from every category except foundation and concealer. I couldn't find a shade from searching online that would match and some lighter ones were sold out at Walmart online. So I think I'll use everything I have and sub in those two products with another brand. As for Rimmel, I'll look into their products for a future video :) Thanks for watching and the requests!
