I guess in 1998, talking about simplicity was still a selling point for computers. When it was the only internet device. Today smartphones need to be simple for all those people out there, who don't want to deal with anything. But simplicity is not a thing real computer users want to have in their machine. A computer is about complexity, possibilities and ways of customizing basically every particle and every byte. Simplicity always also means, less customizability. Perfectly demonstrated by Apple in 2024 to first introduce the ability to place your icons to iPhones. You couldn't do before, which was simpler but also worse for those who don't want it simple.
It actually was a huge point back then. There are commercials about the struggles of PCs in the 90s. Back then people were just getting into the computer game, it was hard for the average Joe to figure everything out. Computers over time became simpler and more user friendly. Today we still see this, but of course computers are also very capable of much more, so tech literate people can take advantage if they know how to
@@killerkitten7534 Yeah I very much think so. I got my first computer in 2005, when everything was already simple enough with USB plug & play devices. But I have watched many videos about computers in the 70s, 80s and 90s, and we got very spoiled after 2000. The level of hoops you needed to jump through to get things working back in the day, it was insane. So at that time, making things simpler was truely a selling point.
Pc is beter and cool ios dont get gaming ps verzion is so good os is beter and play fortnite minccraft and all good games in ipad no is so very big trash yo soooo very biger trash i f**k iphone, ios and iphone tv TRASH
2:39 isn't that a good thing though?? Why are they laughing at that? Also why does the pc user run a virus scan on his fresh install of windows? Wouldn't that contribute to the time to set up?
And 25 years later, it takes even longer because we have to do a clean install of Win10 to replace the spyware ridden Win11 with Total Recall built in, and do the install without the network connection to fool Microsoft that we dont have a Microsoft account, then once we are sort of setup, we will have to toggle off maybe a 100 privacy settings, and it will be different every time depending on whether we have a precise cheat sheet. And we have to install a few programs too. Now to avoid the awful ugliness of Win10 and go back to Win7 which has no support but looks so much better, we will have to find a special six gen Skylake motherboard and CPU, and use the slip stream USB driver method, 50% chance that will not work and it won't work on any newer machine. Or just install Linux, but bloody hell, which one to install, they are all as bland as each other and uninspiring, and Linus Torvolds said that. That will take all of 10 mins maybe.
Nowadays it would be the macintosh user taking hours to set up all of their dongles as well as downloading hundreds of software fixes to make the macOS better at multitasking. While the PC user would be struggling to find proper working GPU drivers for their massive RGB tower build.
my grandma with an imac g3 every time i come over she puts ready for school fisherprice cd in the disk drive and its for LITERAL YOUNG KIDS IM 11 AND MY GRANDMA USES DIAL UP STILL
I never seen this commercial way back then, but I couldn't help but feel nostalgic about that. I also couldn't help but imagine what could have been if my parents bought themselves an iMac instead of a Windows 95 PC.
Zu der Zeit waren Macs richtig schöne Geräte. Ich habe immer noch dem blau/weissen PowerMac G3 Irgendwie hat sich bei Apple sehr viel zum negativen entwickelt.
Prob why it was easier for the kid is because his Pc Comes In All In One And It's Not Just A Computer That Is Seprate with the pc and monitor and uses tons of cables the kids computer was the monitor and pc combined
Yes, but back then they weren't common, which made iMac extremely valuable for education and stuff where it's needed to buy a lot of PCs and set them up quickly
It’s not a commercial it was a contest to show what took faster to set up and go onto the internet and it was to show how fast the iMac can be set up and connect to internet And it wasn’t rigged or scripted.
@@CitizenCashier I guess it was scripted. Like, I doubt a 7 year-old would be able to lift the iMac G3 - it is a computer AND a pretty big CRT after all - it weights 18 kilograms or 38 lbs. But in all other details it was true - setting up an iMac was and still is really simple which is much preferred in many applications
