Hello I’m Neil and welcome to Grandpa’s Workshop Uk. I am a hobby woodworker (I am not an expert I’m still learning.) Who enjoys making things I use pallet wood and reclaimed wood (occasionally new wood) to make things like signs, boxes. I work a full job which means my time in the workshop is limited to evenings and days off I will be trying to release one video each week. My workshop is run on a budget all my recording is done with an old Samsung mobile phone I use windows video editor on my laptop to edit.
I hope you enjoy my videos and thanks for watching.
I've got a few old drill boxes with the guts ripped out ,cheaper than buying storage boxes I looking forward to the new projects ,laser videos are ok but as they increase in popularity it's getting rather boring
Absolutely love this video mate rlly do love the the coster and the sign rlly do appreciate what ya did for me I've got a new machine that allows me to print personal pictures onto hoodies and cups so will be going to learn how to use it and that
Hope you like the tshirt and cup that I did u mate I rlly do love that signs and coster u did me my absolute favorite u rlly do make the best projects ❤
Hi Neil I got the same saw having bought the Evolution mitre saw two years ago I've been impressed so I hinted at Christmas and Santa brought me the track saw hadn't had a chance to use it yet ,I've bought the Evolution Jigsaw and wet and dry vacuum and love them ,
Hi Neil, I plumped for the Makita rail saw (bit of a blue nut). However, I bought an extra pair of Evolution rails on a special offer and cannot fault them .I am warming to Evolution and admire their customer service. Have almost made my mind up to invest in their Rage 5-S. Best of luck with it..... Bob (Weston super Mare)
I like the evolution rage 5s the only real issue I have with mine is the riving knife. I could never get it to line up with the blade but I've had no issues using the saw with out it. The casual diy channel has put out some very informative videos on the rage 5s 👍
Did you only receive one tool rest with this Axminster lathe ? I have a similar model and am thinking of purchasing a narrower rest’ as I see you have a large gap from rest to workpiece when turning short jobs between centres..
@@grandpasworkshopuk6120 my one came as a job lot, with a set of almost new turning chisels which need re sharpening, then I shall start on it. Thanks for the reply.
Thank you. I have wanted to try laser engraving for a while now but have never been confident enough. Having watched your previous video and this one, I’m really tempted to give it a try. And if I do, I will definitely return to your videos as a reference point. I’m now heading over to Louisiana Hobby Guy to have a look. Thanks again, Steve.
Try it mate, I'm the least tech savy person around. I've reviewed the sculpfun s30 ultra series 11w laser & this laser on my channel. I didn't think I'd be able to use either of them but even I've done some basic tests on them. If I can do it you can to
@@GrumpysWorkshop4 Thank you for the vote of confidence. It is the tech side that I’m most concerned about. But when I see other people’s work, I really want to do it myself. I’ve just been reluctant to spend money on something that I can’t use. I’ll have a look at your channel as I’m sure that will help me out. Maybe I’ll get my 16 year old granddaughter round to help too. She’s artistic and tech minded. Thanks again.
@@stevejeffery4951 seriously you will be able to use one. I don't usually use a laptop as I'm not very good with them. All my videos are recorded on my phone, edited on phone, thumbnails done on phone & uploaded from phone all using real simple apps. I was offered the sculpfun first for review & was reluctant to accept the offer as I didn't think I'd be clever enough to get it working. I was wrong. I managed to do a material power & speed test on some ply & I engraved my logo. The sculpfun you need software to use it like lightburn but the diy kit from algo laser has an app. My next video will be me trying the algo laser, trying the app & connecting it to lightburn.
@@GrumpysWorkshop4 That’s decided then. I’m going down to four days a week in January (a 60th birthday present to myself) and I think the laser engraver should be my first purchase in the new year as I’ll have more time for playing. I’ll let you know how I get on. Thanks again.
what about the interior dimensions of the pot without the liner. I'm interested in making wood and resin bowls and want to see how big I can make these bowls
I have seen others do a two resin pour for “ suspending “ something inside, they put a layer of resin inside mould then pressure potted it until firmly tacky and placed objects onto the semi cured resin and topped the mould up after. The tacky resin allows for a seamless bound between the two pours. Hope that helps ya in the future and keep up the sharing of your passion on RU-vid.
You pronounced it correctly 😊. Hope the negative rake tip works out for you, should stop those nasty catches I’ve found it helps no end when resin turning. Great vase love the Indian ink finish.
