Electric Scooters Reviews, E-Bikes, Electric Cars and More. My name is Tim and I love all things electric! I live in Victoria British Columbia Canada on beautiful Vancouver Island. My goal is to encourage people to switch to electric micro-mobility, like electric scooters and ebikes when it makes sense. Not only can it save you money but it can be an enjoyable way to get to commute, cruise, grocery runs and explore your town and city.

considering getting the City 2024 after my Ninebot G30 just couldn't handle the hills of my city haha. how is yours treating you? still loving it all these months later? : )
OMG @TheCoastalAVENGER, love it...it's the perfect scooter for this big guy ....where I live the hills aren't brutal...but the dual motor zips me up...enough range for me...plus the experience is so smooth :)
I still can't believe the value of this scooter. If I was not as tall and as heavy as I am, didn't need to go far on a single charge, and had no desire for going fast, this would be precisely what I would buy. Unfortunately, none of those are true for me...
Thanks for this timely review, Tim! I’m getting close to pulling the trigger and have it narrowed down to this or the Sidekick Fat Pro. With a declining lower back I need upright and comfortable, which I think either bike is, but at 6’2” and 280, I’m pushing the upper limit of the Sidekick, especially with a little bit of luggage.
Awesome @facilitiesmaintenancebyarne, let me know which one you go with...I'll be on my Sidekick Fat Pro this afternoon to get to two different soccer fields (referee) still loving it...and it has the best ride in my opinion...the combination of rear shock, front shock, comfy seat and fat tires makes even the suspension bridge with wooden slats comfy :)
@@TimsElectric what a glorious day to run up and down the field for 3 hours! I appreciate the feedback and will keep you posted. As a short-legged tall guy (32" inseam), I am a little concerned that the cockpit might feel a little cramped for my tall upper body & long arms on a sight unseen purchase like the Velotric D2... whereas when I sat on the Sidekick Fat Pro at AlterEgo, I didn't feel cramped at all.
It's really all about the feel...if you feel comfy on the Sidekick..go for it :) And do say hello to the folks down at Alter Ego Bikes :) I don't think they have any discount codes but you can always ask..say you saw the reviews...are there any discount codes for TimsElectric :) Let me know which way you go :) :) Cheers
Tim my name is Andy i live in Orlando Fl, i been watching your videos about scooters but cant afford one right now. i had a crappy $200 amazon one that i was eventually to heavy for at 230 pounds that basically snapped in half from being used to go to and from work. i just had a baby and cant afford to get a new scooter and currently catching up on bills. i dont know if you do charity work. but it would be a blessing from god if you could donate me a old scooter or something that i can use to go to work. please respond im praying god give me a blessing.
thanks so much for reaching out. I don't live in Florida ...I'm about 5000 miles away in Canada ....but best of luck...hopefully a local reviewer can help :)
Awesome questions @betatoast2271, I'm not sure what you mean by long term...the next few years...hard to say as scooters haven't been around a long long time yet...but 2-5 years I would expect it would be fine :) Niu make solid scooters but if you have rougher roads or hills and you're 260 then I would look at the Apollo City dual motor...I've done lots of reviews on it :) love it :)
Hello and thank-you for you very good video, I don't know when you produced this video but I am posting this message to let you know that you can get this bike in Canada since a few weeks ago. I bought mine a few weeks ago and it is the same color as you show in your video, beautiful color. What a great bike, I am not no ebike expert but to me I have the same results as you mentioned, this bike is perfect for my needs. One thing I think you forgot to say is that the bike comes in 2 sizes for shorter or taller people. Have a great day!😄
@@TimsElectric Hello, for canadians on your channel,I bought my bike from Amego bike be limitless shop. They have 3 stores, one in Toronto, North York and Calgary, they have great service and fast delivery! Have a great day! Jean
Awesome question @mgm1411, I think it had suspension underneath at the back and then a small suspension on the front stem....but it's been a minute since I rode one :)
OMG…you found it on Best Buy?!! I swear I combed through Google results for days and never found that. Either it just became available very recently, or my research skills leave something to be desired…
Hey Tim, Thanks so much for the video, love all your videos and work, great info. I wanted to ask, as for this scooter, the drivetron, I wanted to know, do you NEED to download an app for it? Also, I'm about 15lbs. heavier than you... Should this scooter be fine with my weight? Also, I know what it says on the site, but I wanted to ask you, I am gonna get this for work commute... In your use of it, how long does the battery last, percentage wise, per mile? Sorry for so many questions, but it'll be my first 'real' scooter, and I want to make sure I get what I need. If it helps, I'll be traveling a total of 11 miles every day for work. If you could give me a remaining battery percentage for 11 miles (roughly) I'd be so grateful. When I do buy it, I'll buy it through your link. Thanks again Tim, and love and greetings from Texas. All the best sir.
Awesome to hear from you @christopherspalding6354,I don't have it anymore so can't do any actual tests for you sadly. But! It has a max weight of 400lbs....so 15lbs more than me is no problem :) I don't remember the app...did I use it on the video? It's been a minute and I don't even remember what I had for breakfast today...wait...I do...I haven't had breakfast yet :) It has a big battery so I would think 11miles would be fine...dual motor....60v (which is a lot) 24AH (so with quick maths about 1440WH) plenty of range.,,,for me I would think 25 miles without issue is what I would expect. I would bring a single charger with me...and only charge with the single charger. Honestly for the price...this thing is amazing value :) IMHO :) Cheers Tim p.s. Questions are great :) :) love them :)
Subscribed! I appreciate this and your previous review of the same bike. My wife and I were in Alter-Ego in Abby yesterday and I was looking at the Fat PRO 3 and she the Step PRO 3, and while we haven't test ridden them yet, I think we're sold. I'm 6'2" and 280 and sitting on the FP3 it didn't disappear underneath me, lol.
Awesome to hear @facilitiesmaintenancebyarne, I was on my Fat Pro today to get to a soccer game...love it :) :) so comfortable...hope you and your wife love your new ebikes...tell Alter Ego I said hi!!! :) Cheers
Yeah, I tried them last week for some little things .They shipped pretty fast, too ,thinking it would take a month.😊8 days later showed up going to be hard for company 's to complete with them.
Hey Tim ,I just scored an Ebike from a company named Tuttio. It's dual motor 1200 Rated in each. Dual Suspension! Hydraulic brakes! 52V 30AH battery 24"x4" tires! Colour display! and all for just under 1800 CAD or about $1250 USD! It's called "Adira" Can't wait till it shows up. cheers!
I just got mine and it can't be understated just how large the scooter is in person. I've come from riding one of those 25kph scooters which now looks like a kids toy next to the apollo. I'm 6ft and the apollo makes me feel less masculine just standing next to it xD
That was an interesting bike. We gotta stop trying out these super cool bikes...I'm worried I'm going to find something way better than what I bought and major buyer's remorse (hasn't happened yet, despite how cool this bike with CVT and a belt is). What a great day that was!
How does the Torque sensor + Cadence sensor work? What is the max speed on throttle only? What size frame were you riding? (it looked too small for you) What size tires were on the one you rode? Can you tell us anything beyond what is already on their webpage?
Awesome questions @mellowjammer and I wish I had answers for you...we just didn't have the time and space to do a proper review. I think you're right about the frame size...but sadly I don't know the answers to your questions :( A full review is really the only way for me to get to know the unit...I get to ride it for a few days and then do the review :) thanks for asking though and who knows...maybe one day they're reach out and ask me to review it properly :) Cheers
