This is how my mom bought her Singer 401, she did piece work for Vanity Fair making bras, panties, slips and lingerie. Working with those fabrics? and producing professional results? Made her an expert seamstress. I have 3 sewing machines, an overlock is one of them and.... once you get the hang of using an overlock and a cheap sewing machine you can make some amazing clothes that are on par with store bought. I do suggest if you want to clone your clothes to use a clean garment and to iron the example flat and use starch and pin it to brown craft paper and use the craft paper as a pattern. If I make a pattern that is 'darn good' I will glue two sheets together, I even have a few I used heavy card stock for the pattern. Card stock patterns, along with a clean brick or two, and a rotary cutter you can tackle a few layers of cloth at once. I thought of getting a power shear, might do it one day.
Not for me because I don't have a sewing machine, and fior sanity reasons I will buy them at the store. The Dollar store have them for less than $2.00 and the fabric alone cost more than that
